23. The Tower and Tomb of Taragon

"We need to find something in Taragon's tomb to reactivate the tower's defensive magic," Merslin added.

Once again, Merslin and his party sought out information, and with Kyle's help, they discovered a legend stating that the tomb was hidden deep in the Gobi Desert outside of Sairent.

"To reach the tomb, we must overcome various trials. But if we work together, we can do it," Lisa declared with determination.

The party set off across the Gobi Desert in search of Taragon's tomb. The scorching sun and relentless sandstorms obstructed their path, but their strong resolve pushed them forward.

Serena readied her crossbow, keeping watch for dangers. "Everyone, stay alert. This desert holds more than just natural perils."

Elena guided them using the map they had received from Kyle. "The tomb should be about five days in this direction. Let's proceed carefully."

Lisa led the way with her shield and sword in hand. "I'll take point. Follow me, everyone."

Aria walked at the rear, preparing healing magic. "Stay strong, everyone. As long as we're together, we can overcome anything."

As they crossed the desert, they encountered a merchant caravan resting at an oasis, selling rare goods. The merchants welcomed them and exchanged both supplies and information.

The caravan leader spoke to Merslin's party. "You're searching for Taragon's tomb? You are indeed brave. Head north from this oasis, and you'll find it. But be cautious. Many dangers lurk in that place."

During their rest at the oasis, the party took the time to check on each other and strengthen their bond.

"The water here is so refreshing," Aria said with a smile.

"Yeah, this break is exactly what we needed," Serena agreed.

Lisa inspected the weapons available from the merchants. "It's lucky we found this place. These weapons will be a great help in battle."

Merslin nodded as he spoke with the caravan leader. "The supplies and information we've gained here will be invaluable. Thank you."

As they departed from the oasis and continued toward the tomb, they were suddenly ambushed by desert raiders. These notorious bandits surrounded them, attempting to plunder their belongings.

Lisa raised her sword and charged forward. "You think you can take us on? Think again!"

Merslin cast a fire spell, scorching the enemies. "Feel the wrath of flames!"

Elena unleashed her Lightning Spear (Beongaechang) at the raiders. "I'll finish this in one blow!"

Serena sniped the enemies precisely with her crossbow. "One shot, one kill. Don't miss."

Aria supported them from behind with healing magic. "Stay strong, everyone! I've got your backs!"

As the battle neared its end, a massive Basilisk emerged, threatening the group. Its venomous fangs and petrifying gaze made it a formidable foe.

Merslin attacked with fire magic, but the creature's defense was too strong. "This one's not going down easily."

Lisa aimed for its legs. "Go for the legs!"

Elena used Lightning Spear (Beongaechang) to slow its movements. "We need to immobilize it!"

Serena pinpointed the creature's weak spot, striking with a poisoned dagger. "Right here! This is the spot!"

Aria cast defensive magic to protect her allies from the basilisk's venom. "Be careful, everyone!"

Despite their efforts, the basilisk remained resilient. That's when Merslin devised a plan—to use its own gaze against it. He grabbed a nearby mirror and reflected the basilisk's deadly stare back at it.

"This ends now!" Merslin shouted as he positioned the mirror.

The basilisk, caught in its own reflection, was instantly turned to stone.

"It worked!" Merslin exclaimed in triumph.

Finally, they arrived at Taragon's tomb. It was sealed with powerful ancient magic, and riddles and traps lay ahead.

Stolen story; please report.

Elena studied ancient inscriptions and deciphered the puzzle. "These are ancient hieroglyphs. We need to match the symbols carefully."

Merslin sensed the flow of magical energy. "The energy is flowing this way. We need to align the symbols here."

Serena navigated the traps with agility. "Watch out—this trap needs to be disarmed."

Lisa used her strength to clear obstacles. "We need to move these stones to proceed."

Aria stood ready with healing magic, treating any injuries. "Be careful, everyone. We can do this."

Working together, they solved the puzzle and discovered Taragon's Staff in a hidden chamber.

"This is what we were looking for," Merslin said as he held up the staff.

With the staff in their possession, they returned to Taragon's Tower. However, as they entered, they found themselves facing a seemingly bottomless chasm. Unsure whether to use flight magic or turn back, Merslin had an idea.

He borrowed Aria's bag, crushed a dried herb into powder, and scattered it into the air over the chasm. A hidden path was revealed—an illusion meant to test their courage.

As they progressed, they found themselves unable to reach the upper floors. Elena summoned Will-o'-the-Wisps, revealing floating furniture and invisible walls that would allow them to ascend. Carefully maneuvering, they made their way up.

At the top, they were confronted by Taragon's Specter.

"Are you prepared to face the trials ahead? You are not yet worthy," the specter declared.

Even as a mere apparition, Taragon unleashed triple flame blasts upon them. Lisa blocked with her shield, Aria hid behind cover, and Elena conjured a protective barrier. Serena darted behind for safety while Merslin countered with an offensive spell.

During the battle, Elena cast Lightning Strike and smirked. "Now it's my turn. Taragon, let me show you that you cannot win."

Serena, providing cover from the back, grinned. "Elena, you're amazing. I feel invincible with you here."

Elena nodded confidently. "Thanks, Serena. Together, we're unstoppable."

Lisa deflected an incoming blast with her shield, turning to wink. "If we win this, how about a private celebration?"

Serena chuckled. "That sounds like a great idea. You're quite the warrior, Lisa."

Merslin, while concentrating on casting his spell, smiled faintly at their banter. "If we win, that celebration will be well-earned."

With precise coordination, Merslin launched Ice Blades (Eoreum Kalnal)—razor-sharp ice shards striking the specter. In response, Taragon unleashed Arcane Explosion, catching Merslin off guard.

Elena flinched and closed her eyes, expecting the worst. However, at that moment, the staff shone brightly, forming a protective barrier around Merslin.

"The staff is aiding us!" Elena exclaimed.

Believing in its power, Merslin launched another attack. "Now, Fireball (Hwayeongu)!"

As his Fireball and Elena's Lightning Strike collided with the specter, Lisa delivered the final blow. Taragon's specter vanished.

A final echo of his voice remained. "You have proven yourselves."

A chest appeared before them, floating toward Merslin's hands.

"This is Taragon's Amulet."

As Merslin held the amulet, it fused with the staff, glowing and pointing toward the tower's activation mechanism.

"So the Aether Staff was the key to reactivating the tower," Elena whispered in awe.

As the tower's magical energy surged, a powerful barrier enveloped the city.

"The city is safe now," Aria said, relieved.

"We did it!" Serena cheered.

"Yahoo! We pulled it off!" Lisa jumped with joy.

Merslin raised the staff high. "We will protect this land. And we shall continue to safeguard its peace!"
