The sound of their footsteps echoes on the dark ruined hallways. Their only light source is the flashlight that the girl in the lead is pointing forward. The two girls walking are armed with stylish and colorful guns.
"Ruri, are you sure it's here?"
"Of course it is, just trust me!"
Their voices echoed on the silent hallway, the noise they make are the only thing that disturbs the peaceful and damp air of the building.
"But we've been walking for awhile now. I think it is just an urban legend after all."
"Come on Yuki, don't be pessimistic!" The one leading them said. "It'll be bad if it's not true."
"Can't we just go out and take commissions. I think that'll be more efficient than just looking at something that we weren't even sure exists."
The one leading them, Takane Ruri, stops on her tracks. The one following behind her, Takane Yuki, also followed along.
Ruri turns to her with a grave expression. Her eyes are seriously gazing at hers.
"Are you crazy? That's like the number one thing we should definitely avoid!"
Yuki frowns. "But if we didn't do it, we will be forced to sell our consoles."
"That's why we're looking for the hidden treasure. I know it's here somewhere!"
"How can you be so sure?"
"Well. You saw those things roaming around this building, right?" With her nod, she continues. "I am sure they are hiding something in here. Access to this area has been restricted by the Administration, so there must be something important within!"
"Also, there is that legend about the ancient civilization and great riches. So I am sure we will find something."
Yuki slowly nodded. "Okay. But I still think this is just making it more complicated. What if there is nothing in here?"
Ruri grins. "Come on now, I know your always trying to be the big girl here, but just indulge me for a bit."
"Also, we're Gamers, so working is out of option!"
Yuki raises her finger before slowly letting it fall and nodding. Satisfied, the two of them continues on their trek.
Though, when they took a few steps, they heard the sound of heavy footsteps on the dark hallways beyond. In a practiced movement, they quickly took aim with their guns.
Then a large silhouette appears, easily covering the whole width of the hallway. It was a metallic being with a crimson glow on it's visor.
"Contact!"
The two quickly take their time to take firing stance and pull their trigger. Ruri is shooting laser pulses with her assault rifle-like gun, while Yuki is situated on the back and is pointing her sniper-like weapon.
Their shots are enchanted and is leaving trails of green and red on the air as it wheezes through to the golem, clinking through it's hardened armor like it was nothing.
"Shoot the eyes, shoot the eyes!"
With Ruri's yells, the sniper behind her focused her sights on the golem that is quickly closing in on them, and mutters a word beneath her breathe.
"Gradient Pierce"
Her voices echoed, proclaiming her order of the world. Her eyes glowed for a bit before some sort of wisp weaves through her body, going to her arm and then moving to the barrel of her gun. Then she pulls the trigger, the bullet spinning and passing through the air as it leaves a flashing green light that seems to leave more greenish particles.
The shot held true and the golem's red orbs has been pierced, breaking through it's defense once and for all. It stumbled on the floor before slowly kneeling through. Then it fell face first on the floor, unmoving.
The two girls sighs before they pump their fist to the air.
"We are victorious once again! If this is a game, we would have taken some EXP and loots!" Ruri stated.
Then Ruri turns her attention to her sister who seems to have become a bit more exhausted than awhile ago.
"Uh... sorry." She scratches the back of her head with a sheepish look.
"It's fine. My magical reserves are still on the green. Though I think we should bail out before something bad truly happens."
Ruri shakes her head. "No. Let's go deeper for a bit more."
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
"But..."
"It's fine. Just a single room. If there is nothing in there, then we will call it a day. Is that okay?"
Yuki stares at her for a bit before slowly nodding. "Okay." She says with a sigh.
Ruri smiles brightly. "Thank you. Your truly the best sister I can have!"
Yuki can only shake her head before the two of them continues on their trek.
----------------------------------------
A few minutes has passed before they arrived at an entrance to a room. The door seems to be broken and many large debris blocks it, though it seems like there is enough opening for the two of them to pass through.
"So. What's inside?"
Yuki is kneeling on the floor and is peering through the small opening. She can't see much, only some sort of pedestal that seems to be being highlighted by the sunlight. Other than that, she have to pull herself inside to see more.
"I'll go first." Yuki calmly stated.
"Okay."
Ruri look at her surrounding with her stance ready while Yuki crouches and forces herself from the small opening.
"Mmmph!"
With a bit of an effort, she manages to get inside. After a moment, she manages to pull herself, she takes the time to stand up and wipe the dust off her skirt before looking around.
"... Wow..."
As she marvels at the surprising scenery in her face, Ruri follows through and quickly manages to get inside, being shorter than her sister.
"What is it... oh..."
As she got inside, she stands besides her sister before looking at the pedestal. The sunlight seems to have been directed at the pedestal on the center of this ruined room. It seems like the ceiling of this building is totally destroyed that the sunlight can enter.
On the pedestal, there lies a sleeping beauty. A girl with long black hair and a body that suggest someone of their age. She is also naked by the way.
"Who is this? What is a girl doing here sleeping? Also, why is she naked!?"
As Ruri is being confused about this sudden situation, Yuki has taken off her coat and uses it to cover the sleeping girl's body.
Then the two of them stands besides the girl, trying to think of about the enigma.
"What should we do?"
"I think we should wake her up. Ask her what is she doing here?"
Not seeing anything wrong with Yuki's logic, the two of them decided to take that option and nudge the sleeping girl awake.
"... Hm?" The sleeping girl stirs awake by their touch and her eyelids moves before slowly opening. Her crystal blue eyes met the two sisters' face, her eyes dazed.
The two gulped, seeing the beautiful girl waking up and staring at them blankly. They don't know what to do next.
"Uh.... hello?" Ruri said weakly.
"..."
"Uh..."
Ruri felt queasy just being stared at by the almost naked girl. She don't know what to do next.
"Where am I?"
The two perks up after the girl finally asks that. She seems to be confused about her surroundings.
"O-oh... you don't know?" Seeing the girl shakes her head, Ruri quickly responded. "Oh no, what if she have amnesia? Isn't that too cliche for a plot!?"
"Wait, let's stop going to that conclusion. We're still not sure if it's truly the case." Yuki sighs before turning her gaze to the mysterious girl. "So, can we know who you are? I am Takane Yuki by the way."
The girl just stares at her for a moment in confusion before slowly shaking her head.
"Ah! She don't know! She is truly amnesiac!"
Yuki just sighs before asking. "Do you remember anything?" Seeing her deny it with her timid shakes, Yukie felt sympathy to the girl. "I see. Sorry about that."
Then the two of them steps back before going to the side to talk privately to each other.
"What should we do? She seems to have awakened without any memories?"
"I don't know. But I feel a bit hesitant to just ignore her."
"Right! But if we take her..." Ruri frantically waves her hands. "Impossible, we can't support another person! We haven't even paid our rents yet!"
"So what should we do then?"
Yuki took a moment to think about it. Then she looks at the girl who is just wandering her gaze around in wonder, and she looks so lost about it. Then she looks at her sister. She also seems to be gazing occasionally at the mysterious girl in concern.
"Okay. I think we'll just do this...."
----------------------------------------
"Why did we take her back with us!?"
Ruri can't help but blurt out her thoughts like that. They have left the restricted area using the passage that they only knew and sneak back to their apartment along with the black haired girl. The girl in question has been carefully dressed by their own clothes after they got back to their room.
"We can't just leave her alone. If we try to report it to the Administration, they'll know that we entered the Sector 888."
She didn't say the other possibility of just leaving the girl alone. They are not heartless enough to do it.
"I know.... but.... what should we do?"
They look at the girl who is staring around the room in wonder. She seems to be so engrossed at looking around that she is not bothered by Ruri's loud voice.
"Maybe we should really take a commission." Yuki once again raised that option.
"Rejected!"
"Right of course..." Yuki sighs.
As they are just sitting there and trying to brainstorm ideas, the mysterious girl in question seems to have become intrigue by something lying on the floor. She walks on that spot and kneels before taking that something and peering through it carefully.
Noticing what she is doing, the two gasps at what she is holding.
"What is this?"
"Ah! That's my MyNet S2! Please be very careful about handling it!" The girl just tilted her head. "As for your question, it is a game console."
Seeing her becoming more curious, Yuki took charge of the conversation.
"Are you curious about it?" Seeing her nod, she smiles. "Then, why don't we show you how to play?"
The girl is curious and intrigue. She nodded at them. The sisters quickly go besides her and pointed to the power on button below the device.
As they are teaching her about the device, the two have thought of setting aside their problems for now.
They haven't thought at this time, that this chance encounter will overturn the Magical Society, and break a lot of status quo. Just by the mysterious girl's presence alone, they will be embroiled on conflicts and conspiracies running rampant on Theia, the City of Mystic Pinnacle.
