Chapter Fifteen
To Chase About a Girl– Part One.
Violet was anxiously sitting at the cave entrance, looking out over the snow.
She began this morning by marking the wall as she did everyday. Today was the 14th day after Aelius departed from the cave.
Reaching up, Violet bit her nail nervously while looking behind her, recounting that she has all the materials for the treatment ready.
The nine months before she met Aelius felt like child’s play compared to the last two weeks without him. It seems like it’s harder to go back to bitter medicine after eating sweets.
“Please, Aelius. Please, please, come on,” Violet whispered to herself.

Aelius took a glance at the watch on the wrist, as he braved the cold of the mountain ranges. It wasn’t an issue. He’ll get back before the sun starts setting; he’s already memorised the path back to the cave.
It just took a bit of time to check if he wasn’t being followed– he could tell Violet was anxious about someone chasing her.
As the time passed and he travelled swiftly, growing more and more familiar with enhancing his physical movements through Mana, he was speeding across the Ice Ranges and finally came upon the cave.
With a final jump, he crossed a dozen metres of snow and came landing onto the rock of the mountain. “Whew–” he looked up just in time to see a head of purple lunge into him. “Whoa!” he coughed, almost having the wind knocked out of him but Violet.
She charged him down like a bull before wrapping her arms around his back. “Goodness, Aelius. You really know how to make a woman worry.”
“Ah…” Aelius wryly chuckled.
“Come on, come on. Dump all the heavy stuff you’re carrying. We should get down to business straight away.”
“Okay, okay.” Aelius dropped his heavy backpack and, like he always did, laid down for Violet to begin working on him.
By the time Violet finished applying the doses of herbs, the sky was beginning to turn orange like her eyes. Aelius was finally allowed to sit up again, and immediately sprung to his feet, stretching his arms.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
“Mmm… nothing like a good old curing of the poison, wouldn’t you say?” He crossed back to his backpack before spinning around. “Anyhow, I’ve got a little something for you.”
Violet’s eyes lit up at the object in his hands. “You got me a backpack!?”
“Uhh… no. I got you what’s in the backpack.”
“Oh.”
They continued gazing at each other in silence for a short moment, before they both broke out in laughter. Finally, Aelius reached into the bag to reveal what he got.
“Ta-dah!” Like a rabbit out of a hat, he pulled out a large bag of dried meats and jerkies.
“Oh my… Goodness!!!”
“I wish I could bring more, but I can’t use Spatial Magic yet for storage,” Aelius wryly spoke, but Violet was too occupied otherwise to care.
“Meat! Meat! Meat!” She really was a meat-lover brain.
“Ah, I also got one other thing for you. It was a little difficult folding it up and getting it in here. And, I’m not sure if it’s the right size or not but…” Aelius pulled out the final gift and dumped the bag on the stone ground, before unfolding the linen to reveal a gorgeous pale green and purple dress. “You finally get a change of clothes.”
Violet’s eyes lit up as she received the dress, looking at it in her hands with a sparkling gaze. “Wow… such an amazing gift.” She turned to Aelius and gave him a wry chuckle. “Almost as good as the jerky you brought.”
“Hah… I’m not even surprised that you like the jerky more than this.”

Four months passed by. At this point, it had become routine for Aelius to depart every now and then on a small excursion, back out into society.
Violet also became more relaxed with letting him go because he’s always stuck to the 14 day deadline.
Though she still liked it more when he was around, than when he’d go on trips. But it seemed like he had a mission– this strange, strong determination, to achieve something. It came from somewhere of utter contempt and hate.
Aelius was a kind boy, but Violet could tell that whatever it was he was chasing, he’d turn into a Demon himself.
Once again, Aelius had gone on his trip. But this time, the worst thing Violet feared came true.
It was the end of the fourteenth day. The sun was setting. And there was no sign of Aelius. He had never been this late before.
Violet restlessly paced the entry of the cave, biting her nails. If he delays any further, he’ll begin to suffer the severe backlash.
All into the night, Violet waited for him. But when the next morning came and she was deathly tired, there was no sign of him.
The next day, there was no sign either. Nor the next. Nor the next.
After that, all the niceties in the cave he brought her didn’t matter anymore. They had some furniture that he brought back with his Spatial Magic. She even had a small closet with a dozen dresses now. They had a meat rack where they had a stock of dried meat for whenever she wanted it.
But now, all that mattered to Violet was for him to return safe and sound. And he has not.
