The melodic alarm begins to gently wake Hyun up, pulling him slowly from the world of dreams. He does not move, the song looping over and over until it becomes a mindless drone that would not wake even a sleeping predatory cat.
“Are you going to turn that off sometime soon?” I ask.
Hyun bolts upright, sleep falling from his eyes like rain from the sky. He is fully awake, alert, and clearly shocked, eyes wide. For a moment I think his the colour of his irises have somehow changed: they are bright against his skin, appearing as an almost startling, icy blue. But he shifts his head, and they fade to the tradition dark brown, the colour washing away to little more than a wink in each eye. Ah, it was the reflection of the light from the windows outside.

Interesting.
Something large and rotund flies at my face.
