— Charlotte, level 20
— Class: Human [Common]
HP: 100%
Mana Pool: N/A
Stamina: 100%
— Evolution
— Stats
— Skills (2000 Skill Points)
— Passive Skills (2000 Skill Points)
Now, those two menus at the bottom were different from back when I was level 10. The Stats were usually listed all out, but now it was a menu I could open. I motioned a hand, but as usual, my hand fell through the translucent screen and landed on the dragon’s back plating. Did I look weird moving my hand to click it? I can just imagine it in my mind and it would open. And I had a plethora of Skill Points, now! I was truly lucky, wasn’t I? Well, I waved that thought off in my head. I was not level 10 for a very long time to tell how different the menus were before that… I felt my chest. That hobgoblin tore out my heart and ate it. I apologized to the old owner of this body. Sorry, Charlotte, something tells me you would not like your fragile body being crushed over and over by your new owner. I have been stabbed, broken and incinerated before in countless battles in my past before, but never has that happened.
Considering where I was right now, Evolution seemed too risky. The clouds were beneath us, and the moon was slowly turning into day. The orange glow was still new to me, but I did not dislike the view. Had the Jade Dragon not cast a spell to allow me to breathe, I would have been level 1 again after splattering on the ground. The Human Witch class seemed like an odd fit to me. I have been fighting the only way I knew how— with my bare hands. How does this Status know exactly what I should be? Were there other options other than Witch?
My Forbidden Spells required me to have tails and tendrils for the first two; My final spell required me to bleed a lot. I did bleed a lot, but in the midst of dying repeatedly I found that the final spell did not work since I did not cast the first two. To me, a witch seemed to be like Wisdom. A woman of pure magic, secrets, and hungry for knowledge. Unlike her, I could not grasp magic like she did. Was magic really something I could use?
The Stats menu was opened up, but I was interrupted by a sudden drop in the air. Right, I was on top of a dragon!
The dragon was descending, but despite his conspicuous presence there was no sign of anyone else in there. I felt like I had been missing for days. Did they expect me to live off of those boxes of food by myself? Who am I kidding, I lurched as the Dragon landed. I should be grateful for that food anyways. He landed gracefully, while I carried a shivering Frampton on my head. I guessed he was not expecting to fly so high up. Are you alive? I felt him breathing, but he did not say anything.
“Hmm,” the Dragon uttered, raising a massive talon to tap the Ward blocking the tower. A translucent wave rippled from where he tapped it, like a bubble threatening to pop. “This flimsy thing is blocking your abode from me.”
“Really?” I slid down his leg and never have been so glad to be on solid ground again.
“It’s not,” he mused. “But if I were to destroy it you would have no home.”
“O-Oh,” I paced in front of the enormous beast, sizing him up. How considerate of him. He was infinitely wider then the tower, and his frame was half as tall as it as well. In my previous life, Primordials would transform into demons to accommodate their size difference in order to visit me. “Can you transform into a smaller form, maybe a human perhaps? This ward only allows humans to travel through it.”
The Dragon contemplated for a moment, and then decided on something. A spell or a skill? His Jade aura changed, eventually enveloping his entire body in light. You could have warned me! I covered my eyes, but the brightness still stung. I still stole a couple of peeks to see what he was doing, but his aura was shrinking!
After the misty magic dispersed, I saw a man standing before me brushing off his shoulders. He was wearing a grey suit that had a dignified look, but it was not as decorated as Father’s. This was the Jade Dragon, right? The only Jade things about him were his eyes and the same overwhelming power that emanated from him.
Clothes Identifier: Servant’s Set [Ancient]
Oh, I guessed the Passive Skill was somewhat useful. Thanks, Wisdom. He passed a hand through the Ward’s protective barrier, and thankfully it did not destroy him or the house. The Dragon briskly approached me and opened the door, but did not go in first. Eh?
“After you,” he ushered me to go in first. I felt Frampton stirring on my head. He fell asleep! No wonder why he was not giving my advice! I guessed the only option was to take his offer, so I sheepishly skirted in with him following me. “So this is your home, human?”
“Charlotte,” I told him. “I am called Charlotte, now.”
“Indeed, but you don’t sound sure of it,” he countered. It’s true, I am still not used to having a name, but I’ve got time to practice!
I led him up to my room and turned to him. The Dragon looked at it in disapproval! Come on, man! It’s somewhat cramped, but it’s clean and nice! For me, anyways. I expected Wisdom’s Intervention to prove me wrong, but she did not show up this time so take that! Behold my—!
“It’s too cramped,” he noted. Gah! I sighed. I guess for two people it would not be so accommodating. Wait, I remembered the room Frampton crashed into!
“I got a room up top,” I moved up ahead of him, but realized how foolish I probably looked. There were really only two ways to go inside this tower: Up or down. We headed upstairs to the beaten up door. Before he could express anything, I rushed to explain. “It was locked, okay?”
He chuckled. I studied his face for a moment. Humans called the grey hair forming around his chin and mouth a beard, right? It was uniform, set around his muscular jaw, and held power in it despite him looking old.
“I’m not old,” he scoffed.
Gah! I keep forgetting he can read my thoughts! That’s really intrusive, old man! A knowing look crept in his smile, but we continued in. The room was still barren, save for the chair and the dusty table next to it. Well, it was spacious enough for him to survive in. You like this?
A low growl rumbled in the Dragon’s throat. Approval? Good, I supposed. Though there was one small thing: My stomach was growling! Excuse me! I ran all the way down back to my room and beheld the perfect boxes containing all the food I could devour! I threw the sleeping bat from my head on my bed and tore one box apart.
“Fruit?” I noticed humans carrying these foods around in their packs, but I never thought they actually ate them. Oh well, I sank my teeth in one, only to be met with a powerful sweetness wetting my tongue. I shall continue my conquest of all human food! Starting with all these boxes! Getting killed over and over again was enough to make any young human girl hungry, you know! My head bumped into something as I reveled in my meals. A leg? Can I eat that too?
A low growl hit my eardrums. Gah! I whirled around to see the Dragon standing there.
“H-How long have you been standing there?” I asked him. He glared at me. “If you were expecting food, you should have asked!”
I looked at the boxes to offer him and found them to all be empty. How did this happen!? I could have sworn those servants brought many of them! I lifted one up and flipped it over, but nothing fell out of it! A disapproving growl hummed in the wind. At least, I did not need a Skill to identify this dragon’s mood.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
“L-Look,” I explained to him. “I will be hunting soon. It is daylight and most of the Goblins have been destroyed, so…”
“I could go retrieve their bodies for food,” he finally agreed. That was a great idea! I can’t believe I never thought about that. He stopped at the doorway. Wait, going so soon? “I’ll be back tonight. Then you will hunt. By the way…”
The Jade Dragon shifted uncomfortably. Was this place not up to his standards? Or was being a man difficult? I could relate to both of those things!
“It’s a name. I would like to….” he trailed off. “I would like to have one.”
Oh. Some Demons had been assigned names, like Frampton. He was an Imp Bat. I did not have the heart to tell my humble servant that it was a practical joke. Did this Dragon truly want a name from me?
“I will have to think of one,” I guessed, pointing my fingers together. “There is still plenty of time to think, though I don’t know of many options to begin with.”
This seemed to satisfy the Jade Dragon, so he took towards the exit, leaving me alone. With my belly full and cursed daylight still hanging, I was prepared to go over my Status! Nothing could stop me now! Hah! My mind scanned for the first magic window I could see in my Status.
Evolution
— Charlotte can evolve into the Human Witch [Rare] Class
“Hmm,” I mumbled. Could there be any explanation for the class, or should I go for it because it was my only option? Could I even acquire other options? I am significantly stronger now. I could tell that by the way I could move around and not feel fatigue. The stamina stat, despite being at 100%, seemed to drain a lot less over time whenever I did anything. Suddenly, Wisdom’s sweet voice echoed something in my head.
— Wisdom’s Intervention: The Status has been Rolled and Ordained. The Human Witch [Rare] Class is the only path forward.
Well, that sure seals the deal on those questions. I grumbled and moved up the stairs into the Dragon’s room. That letter ordering my death still lay on the floor, but I believed I had time. If I was to evolve now and something bad happens, I’ll have more space to deal with the evolution’s consequences and have a chance to fight off assassins. I trust you, Wisdom. I closed my eyes and selected the option. If I was supposed to become a Witch, then a Witch I shall be!
— Charlotte has chosen to evolve!
A surge of unknown energy and uncertainty lanced through me. I felt like my being was being torn apart as cyan light enveloped me. Was this what the dragon did when he turned into a man!? This feels too weird! Rings of light flashed in my vision, and as I lifted my arms to block them from blinding my sight I realized my arms were also bright white! Was it too late to cancel now? I suddenly found myself feeling the wooden floor pressed against my face. My shaking hands pushed me up before I realized I collapsed on the ground. A ray of sun trickled through the window pane. I checked myself over, but noticed a towering window floating above me, much larger than any I've seen so far. I stumbled over to the chair for dramatic effect, but the truth was I felt much lighter and better than ever!

Oh boy, I breathed in. Perhaps I was not feeling better than ever. I wanted to take a quick nap after reading all of that! Still, all those menus shall be taken care of. I swiftly opened my Status once again.

I rubbed my chin and eyes as I squinted at the windows. Human writing was one thing to get over, but numbers as well? What was this Status’s creator thinking? I could not even count that high? I checked the amount of fingers I had, and those could not even reach those high numbers! I swiped angrily at the status. I theorized that the numbers were associated with the letters by the stats, and increasing them would eventually change the number. That seemed to make sense in my head, so that’s what I am going with! Next window, Wisdom!
— Wisdom’s Intervention: Spellbook is locked. Bond with a Familiar in order to use.
Okay! One less window to worry about! Wait, Familiar? I turned back to the magical window I dismissed.
— Wisdom’s Intervention: Learn about the Summon Familiar and Bond Familiar Skills in the menu.
I can almost hear your exasperation with me, Wisdom! I growled. Of course, the Status remained quiet. Skills! Go!

— Transmutation [Epic] [Rank F]: Change materials.
Gah! This was a lot of stuff! Was I supposed to use all of these Skills? All of them had their own menu, too! At least, Martial Arts was Rank S. That Skill seemed at its limit, which must mean that my Stats were all graded to this so-called S rank. I wondered if I inherited that Skill from my previous Demon Lord form. Humans were lucky with these stupid Skills… And now that I was one of them, I cackled as I realized my potential was a lot bigger than I previously imagined. I remained in an empowered trance until I felt a pair of judgmental eyes were upon me.
“I assume your celebration is because you have come up with a name for me, yes?”
I nearly jumped out of the window, but realized it would not kill me completely. He’s been watching me cackle this whole time! I cringed from embarrassment, then shook out of it defiantly. Was I wrong to be happy about getting stronger? No! His eyes locked onto me and a scowl was threatening to break his neutral facial expression apart. Wisdom, help me out here! A name for a Jade Dragon, please!
— Wisdom’s Intervention: Name him Attor.
Thank you! I nearly choked after realizing Wisdom might actually be watching me struggle. The Dragon could read my thoughts all he wanted, I sighed until I learn some kind of privacy Skill or Spell.
“Attor,” I said, pensively. I may not have come up with it myself, but I wanted him to have it. “Your name… It’s Attor now. Do you like it?”
He raised his hand suddenly, making me duck and cower. Did he dislike it that much? I felt a strange sensation on my head. It was soft. Gentle. Tender? A small pat, from a powerful hand that encompassed my hair seemed to stir something inside of me. This was a good feeling.
“I like it, Charlotte,” Attor’s voice finally broke the silence. That was good to hear, now unhand me! I’m going to melt from how comfortable this feels! I am supposed to get stronger now! His hand quickly released my head. He heard my thoughts! “Speaking of strength, I have brought them.”
“H-How many?” I realized he can transform back into his true form at will, which meant he could hold that entire village of— Attor chuckled and led me to the door downstairs. Before he opened it, he let out another amused snort.
“All of them, of course.”
