Chapter 44

Ju stopped at the Inn reception. He saw that Madam Pang was attending to a couple. The man and woman's voices were relatively low, and Ju could not understand what they were saying. Not that the boy was interested in other people's affairs.

After a few minutes, Madam Pang gave them a room key, and the couple quickly hurried upstairs. The Inn only had about ten rooms, and people who usually used the Inn did not stay more than a day most of the time. Ju and MoonFlower were anomalies. But the young boy was grateful for this sort of scenario; it felt safer.

He approached Madam Pang and asked softly.

"I want to craft a new dagger that can withstand much tougher foes. I am unsure if these regular weapon-smiths can do the job for me. Do you have any suggestions?"

Madam Pang arched her left brow a bit as she heard him.

"Hmm, the young wolf wants to sharpen his fangs… Well, I know someone here in Ender Town who might help. Though he is a bit of an oddball, I am unsure if he would help you. But you could give it a try. Let me tell you how to find him."

Ju moved closer as Madam Pang whispered next to him.

In Ender Town, several shops sold Inscription or Magic weapons activated with Essence. However, these pieces of equipment gradually became weaker with each use. This was expected, as the materials used to construct them were not high-quality, and Essence was a powerful force.

Inscriptions placed on weapons allow users to channel Essence for a boosted effect. Still, one can also decide to refrain from activating the inscription every time to preserve the life span of the Magic weapon.

This was basically how all Magic tools in the world were used. Ju had never used a magic weapon before, but he had seen their wondrous effect many times, especially Zabel's bow. Zabel was generally a weak Essence gatherer, but she could stand on equal footing with Tylen and Aron with that bow.

Madam Pang had given him directions about an inscription master named Harkimo. Ju decided to try his luck.

The shop was located in the farther reaches of Ender Town, very close to the dark forest. It was deeply embedded in various alleyways, so much so that Ju was bothered that he might have gotten lost. As one might expect, the people here were relatively scanty, but their auras were not weak, as Ju observed.

After about an hour of back-and-forth, Ju finally arrived at the entrance described by Madam Pang.

"The shop entrance looks desolate, and it seems people passing are deliberately trying to avoid it."

Ju noticed as he entered. Immediately, he was assaulted by loud and rough voices.

"You fraud! The set of Inscription explosives you made for me was fake! They did not have any effect at all. I might have lost my life if it was not for one of my trump cards!"

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

"You idiot! Why would you battle against an Essence Artist from the Anli Family? Have you not heard that they are the best at manipulating spiritual pressure and Essence control?! All of them can easily dismantle basic inscriptions used on magic weapons."

"Are you not just admitting that you are a fraud? Your inscriptions are not profound at all."

The two men were arguing when they noticed a third party. It was a young-looking figure with white bandages across his face and arms. He also had an eyepatch across his left eye, while the right eye shone purple like a rare gem.

"I want to inquire about Armament Master Harkimo."

The older of the two men rolled his eyes.

"Kid, I don't know what got into you, but you have no business in a place like this."

Ju assumed that this was the man he was looking for.

"I want to make a dagger with the simplest inscription. My requirements are not much at all. I don't think I would take much of your time."

"Oddly enough, I like his tone."

The man who had been arguing with Harkimo previously chuckled when he heard Ju say something.

Harkimo ignored the man's statement and said in an impassive voice.

"You are new to Ender Town, aren't you? Well, whatever, it's not so bad if I let some things slide. Yet even if I lend you an ear, can you afford my services, little one? I don't accept gold coins."

Ju's continence was calm as he brought out three spirit stones.

"This is all I have."

"Oh! Three spirit stones. That's quite a lot for someone as weak as you."

Harkimo said with a brief look of surprise on his face; he paused a bit before continuing.

"Okay, boy. As you know, no money is too small in these parts. Come back in two weeks. I should be able to put together something that suits you."

The weaponsmith waved his hand, and the spirit stones vanished.

"You are a shameless old man. The weapon you crafted for me was so deficient,t yet you have the guts to take the poor kid's money still. I am getting a refund today or pulling this place down."

"I'd like to see you try! You..."

The two men continued arguing, not sparing Ju another glance. Ju stood there for some time before turning to leave.

As he exited the small shop, Ju felt cold inside.

"They are both Essence artists. No wonder he said I was new in Ender Town; only Essence artists would dare go directly to him to request weapons."

No wonder there were not a lot of people lingering around. The fear of angering an Essence artist ran deep.

When he first entered the shop, Ju wanted to leave immediately after sensing their aura. However, a faint spiritual pressure prevented him from doing so. Ju was unsure whether the angry customer or Harkimo was responsible, but he had no choice but to speak out loud and drop all his money.

The young boy sighed lightly, hoping that an Essence artist like Harkimo would not be shameless and scam him of his money.

Ju soon put the matter at the back of his mind.

"I guess I should use the period to stay with Moonflower," Ju muttered.

Meanwhile, back at the small shop, Harkimo and the customer have stopped arguing.

"You picked the worst opponent to use a magic weapon against. I can not recreate that set for you at no cost, but if you can find the core of a rank one spiritual beast, I can infuse it and make a much stronger inscription, but it would cost you 30 spirit stones." Harkimo sighed

The angry customer rolled his eyes.
