Chapter 17 Beaten

Chapter 17 Beaten

“Did I miss anything?” Yuna asked Ryota.

She had just made it back from her little excursion.

“Your son will fight Reiner after this match, I pity the elven girl.” Ryota shook his head after watching the current match.

“It’s to be expected, I’m sure my son will end his farce.” Yuna said with a smirk before looking at the current match.

“Get up you slut.” Carter yelled at Ariel.

The last ten minutes had just been Carter viciously beating Ariel, each time she got up he would kick her back into the ground.

“You’re pitiful, you green house flower.” Carter had nothing but disdain for royalty.

“I’m. Not. A. Flower.” Ariel managed to stand up while leaning against her sword.

Throughout her life she had always been looked down on, only to be used as a political tool. She had hoped that she could become strong and control her fate, but that would only come to fruition if she became stronger than her father.

“You feel miserably weak don’t you? This is why I love dark magic.” Carter said with a huge grin on his face.

He walked forward and kicked the sword out from under her which in turn made her collapse.

“It lets me step on worms like yourself, let’s get this over with.” Carter tossed his sword to the ground and climbed on top of Ariel.

“Try not to pass out, I want to savor this.” Carter reared back and began punching Ariel over and over again.

Many affinities are straight forward but Darkness is incredibly difficult and mysterious. Darkness had many fields you can go into so it could be hailed as one of the most broad fields of magic. You could learn necromancy, curses, shadows, diseases, even soul magic falls under this category, the ceiling is incredibly high but also incredibly difficult. Carter specializes in diseases and curses, hence why Ariel couldn’t fight at full power. This is how Carter had mercilessly beaten every opponent he faced, with the help of something else too.

“St….ahhh…p.” Ariel was mumbling after being beaten by Carter, but he still wouldn’t stop. Blood was flying all around them, both of her eyes were completely swollen and had blood leaking from them. Each hit made blood spray to the point that a puddle of blood had formed, yet Carter wouldn’t stop.

“Beg me.” He said as he kept punching her, his fists were covered in blood.

At this point he aimed at her jaw and completely shattered it, preventing her from saying anything else.

Minutes passed and everyone in the crowd was silent, nobody wished this upon a young girl. These kinds of trauma could affect someone’s mentality and make them unable to advance. Even the elven king who was watching from inside a special booth was gripping his chair handle in anger, you could even see the chair beginning to give out.

“I want him dead.” Vaelir said to the guard next to him.

“We can’t interfere in this, sir, you know how the Headmaster would react.” The guard pleaded with his king.

This statement made Vaelir lose it and completely shatter the chair he was sitting on into pieces, he was flaring all of his mana.

“Quiet down will you?” Said a human next to Vaelir.

“If that was your daughter, would you let this happen!? HUH LEO!?” Vaelir yelled at his human counterpart.

“Of course not, that’s why I forbid mine from taking part in this.” Leo said.

Not all continents were united, especially the human one. It was separated into three kingdoms and were constantly at war, only on the central continent would they cease fighting. Most races had one king or queen except for the dwarves and gnomes, they had a council to make decisions.

“It will be handled.” Suddenly Yuna appeared in the special booth assigned to VIPs.

“How do you plan to rectify this?” Vaelir visibly calmed down after seeing Yuna appear.

“I’ve already spoken to someone, my son will take care of this.” Yuna said with a smile that could light up the room.

Vaelir nodded his head in affirmation and fixed his regal robes before sitting back down in his battered chair.

“And who might you be?” Leo asked curiously, no just anyone could appear in the room they were currently in.

“You could say I’m an adviser to Lord Vaelir.” She glanced over at Vaelir.

“Indeed…” Vaelir was in an incredibly foul mood so he didn’t bother trying anything stupid.

“Will you be staying? The other kings didn’t make it to this show so I have a free seat next to me.” Leo gestured for Yuna to sit next to him.

“My apologies, but I have a meeting with someone.” Yuna bowed before leaving the room.

“He better stomp that kid's skull in.” Vaelir muttered to himself.

Back in the arena Carter was still smashing in Ariel’s skull in until finally a judge stepped in.

“Stop.” Suddenly the judge grabbed Carter and threw him to the edge of the arena.

“WHY DID YOU STOP ME!” Carter roared with anger.

“She has lost consciousness, the match is over. Return to your seat and await finals.” The judge said with a hint of anger.

“Tsk.” Carter shook the blood off his hands before sitting right next to Dante.

Dante and Reiner had watched the match and Reiner was visibly angry.

“Why aren’t you angry?” Reiner asked Dante.

But he got no response, it was as if Dante was in a trance.

Reiner looked down at Dante’s hand and noticed his fists were clenched so tightly that blood was profusely pouring from it.

“Next match.” Aaron said.

Both Reiner and Dante made their way to the arena, but Dante was still utterly silent.

“Say something, I refuse to let you win if you don't retaliate.” Reiner said.

Reiner prided himself on being level headed, but after seeing how much Ariel had suffered he lost it. Nobody deserves to be beaten that badly, no matter who they’re.

“There is no redemption for the wicked.” Reiner muttered to himself.

“Begin.” As soon as the judge said this a blue barrier was instantly erected.

“Huh?” Reiner was confused, Dante had vanished.

All of a sudden a hand touched his shoulder.

“I got it.” Dante said with no trace of emotion.

Dante was feeling an emotion he wasn’t really familiar with, being alone in his last world made him very emotionally disconnected. But seeing someone whom he considered a friend being violently beaten woke something up inside of him.

“Humans truly are disgusting..” Dante thought to himself.

Suddenly Aaron appeared above the arena and clapped his hands together to gather everyone’s attention.

“I just received word from the headmaster, the final match will have a different set of rules.”

Everyone who heard this was confused, they had never heard of this before. Every year Unity Academy stuck to the same guidelines and never drifted from it, the headmaster was someone who was very smart and wasn’t someone you would want to upset.

“There will only be one rule.” Aaron held his breath for a moment. The entrance tournament was a place where future prospects always gathered, so changing this rule was something that made no sense to him. But he never questioned his headmaster, clearly something was going on behind the scenes.

“Only one is allowed to leave the arena alive.” Aaron said with bated breath.

“Is he serious….?” Duke Reinhardt was confused, but inwardly he was pleased. Nobody in this stadium wanted Carter to continue living in this world, his display angered many and made them worry for their children’s future in the academy.

“It’ll be fine.” Ryota waved off all the nobles who were curious who would win.

“What makes you think that?” A noble asked.

“That kid hasn’t exerted himself at all honestly, maybe around twenty-five percent? I feel bad for that Carter kid.” Ryota shook his head, he had never seen Dante angry but he could sense the killing intent radiating off of him right now.

“I doubt a teen could kill another living being, that’s something you have to prepare for.” Duke Reinhardt said.

Riener had the same issue when he was slightly younger so his father allowed him to execute heinous criminals, this was how most nobles went about mentally preparing their children.

“I guess we can just watch.” Ryota wasn't here to argue with these nobles, he just hoped the girl would come out okay.

“Make your way to the arena.” The judge said.
