Prologue - Chapter 1

"My name is Inari Jin, I like novels a lot."

There is no point in me randomly pointing out that I fancy novels, but I always happen to find myself saying this.

"My birthday is during Christmas."

"No one cares Joony"

The jolliness of a classroom unfolds. The sigh's were greater than the crickets chirping at night, kids spitting at each other, whilst cussing everyone out, this truly was the voice of a class. A voice such that it is impenetrable.

"Why is one your eyes so droopy Joony, please get surgery!"

Inari Jin. My name is popular around school premises for being a snob whose one eye is droopy, hence the title 'Joony'. My grandma had told me that my name represented the brightest star, only for dirt to get stabbed onto it. I am 17 years old, someone who loves to read novels, and sleep. If I was to be placed on a tier list for entertainment, my rank would most definitely be last. I would consider my life to be more narrow than other kids my age, my parents aren't the greatest people alive.

Looking around my class, this exceptional boarding school I was placed into, was no beckoning area. It was unusual, but typical of a high school. The same group of classmates joking around and howling on about, I was terrified to initiate a conversation with them.

"My sisters name is Mirai"

Mirai.

"Huh? What?"

"That was pretty unnecessary don't you think?"

Yes. It definitely was unnecessary, yet I still did mention about my sister.

Mirai, my older sister was adopted at the age of 16, with no obligation to take my father's name. My father is no prominent man, he lacks the qualities of what I would call a 'father'. My mother is very much the same, no rather... she is a more entitled to herself than her own children, a greedy and selfish women she is. A hatred I possess greater than any other.

I kept my eye on the lackeys, despite their rough and tumble they looked like every other adolescent kid. Maybe it was me being too observant and skeptical.

I got off my seat that I was reserved, approached them delicately the best I could with a topic in mind that might pique their interest. It's a novel I had recently read.

"H-hey, is it alright If I can join you guys?"

There was a slight pause after that brief initiation, for a second it seemed like my world was about to shatter with embarrassment.

I specifically chose this 'friend-group', for the reason being they didn't judge my lazy eye. Nor did it seem that they cared in any way.

"Yeah! We don't mind, you can join us."

”Ahー Thanks."

Whew. That was step 1 done in the playbook. Now all thats left is to keep a conversation going, that is fun on either ends of the table.

”Do you guys likeー”

As luck would have it, I was overtaken by the sudden succession. Perhaps.

Why is the world moving so slowly? Am I going to faint from the mere fact of trying to engage with mates?

And then it struck me.

"...Do you guy's read novels?"

"H-haha, took you an awful long time to say that Jin", The girl with auburn hair muttered with awkwardness.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"Well, I've been reading a book known as heaven."

"Oh! That book is really good."

Quietness. I wasn't sure what happens next, wasn't sure if it's always supposed to be this quiet, wasn't sure if it was due to me being there, but I was sure that the conversation and atmosphere had stopped in a matter of seconds. My fingers were tapping against the tip of my thumb in a musical rhythm with a weight, truth be told, I regret this approach.

The long school bell rang to prepare everyone for the morning, along with the class teacher prepping for the daily routine.

What I seemed to not have realised, the boy Tae Jun, a popular hotshot one can assume from just his appearance. Along with the saint auburn hair Ahn So-hee who actually tried to talk to me were part of this group I approached. Mission failed successfully?

I was too absorbed into the task of making friends.

Lunch break had started a few minutes ago and I'm sat here reading a book. What happened to my confidence?!

"Hey Jin!"

"Ah! Hello Ahn So-hee"

Since when did we start basing us off our given names... I'll keep the full name for now.

"Jin can just call me So-hee, you don't have to feel pressured."

"Is that so? Then So-hee it is."

Ahn So-hee seemed to care about others in such a way, in way she can understand. I would find it hard to explain but, I can tell she means good intentions. This feeling felt normal, a longing I achieved.

"What was the book you were reading a few seconds ago?", So-hee eyes widened with curiosity.

"Ah this is a fantasy novel book called the End of a World, the protagonist in this series is one of a kind truly."

"Jin-ssi didn't seem like the type of person to read fantasy, I thought perhaps horror!"

Haha... horror of all things.

"Haha Jin-ssi I was joking, never mind that, I want to know what the protagonist is like."

"Regressing back to change the fate of his loved ones." Conveying the message of this novel seemed impossible, rather it would take eternity for me to fully relay out the message. That's how pathetic I am, unable to boast about myself but a character that played impact on me instead. "To him I would be considered a shadow of his regret."

"Er... You don't have to be so harsh on yourself, everyone has a story. Honestly I get where you're coming from, even I would be scared to approach such a friend-group, especially since Tae-Jun is involved. I envy Jin-ssi a lot more that you think."

I was overtaken by a strange sense of loss and anxiety, my chest started to pump with pressure. What is this feeling? Definitely not love, but something else... something I'm beginning to expect.

The last bit of feelings I could mutter was,

"What?"

"I will strive to be a better person." and so she said.

Ahn So-hee looked distraught, but more motivated about a particular something. That expression of hers seemed to have snap me back, is reading novels the best I could do?

I closed my eyes gently whilst shutting the novel on the palm of my hand, hoping for a spark within me. This glaring white light, I suppose there is aspiration somewhere.

Something is wrong.

My eyes won't budge at all and I'm stuck in this ghastly void, free of life. Perhaps this is my zone. A cold-sweat ran through my exposed cheek, my body appears to be shivering in this chilly space. My vision of everything around me slowly started to grasp the nature, the light towards the end struck my vision blinding me of sight. The moment the space was uncovered with the blazing-white light, I regained my conscious back into the lifeless classroom.

Was that just a spaz. I didn't do anything weird did I?

I shifted my gaze on towards my left to where Ahn So-hee was supposed to be stood, in that split second her body had appeared to be uprooted.

"Huh?"

Not just her. The entire class, the students upper body's were split apart. No blood, no life but just empty shells that were perched silently.

"AHH!!"

Thuuuuuud-! A lightening strike struck the facility twice at the same place letting out a satanic roar. I held onto my desk for dear life wondering what was about to unfold. The thunderbolt striked numerous amounts of times, unlikely to reach an end.

I shrunk my body to the ground clasping both of my arms to my ears as tightly as I could to wither off the tremendous noise and pain.

Thud!

"ACCCKK!!"

My conscious had faded the very instant the final bolt had hit me. The surroundings had become as quiet as the ocean, no rather, I was back rested along the ocean. The sky gradient-blue with the hymn of a blazing sun, like threads that pierced the clouds.

"Where am I? Did I really just die?"

Sat in front of me, in what took the shape of a long sword similar to a skyscraper was a boy hooded up mysteriously.

"Hey miserable black-bean! I've got a slot remaining and you seem perfect for the role!"

It was all to sudden, I was in my classroom a few moments ago. Now in this grim area, I have lost all meaning to logic.

"What kind of bullshit is this-!"

"Shh... language."

His cold-blooded glare was heavier than that of a mountain, his eyes that gleamed blue trapped me into an abyss that felt familiar.

"S-sorry."

My body wasn't in control anymore, a possession of some sort to force an apology.

[Welcome Inari Jin, please bow down before the creator, God]

"Wha-what is this?!"

'God' had let out a smirk right beneath his pitch black hood, this forever had changed my life.

Get ready for a new experience! Inari Jin!
