The air was thick and saturated with dust, as if walking into an ancient tomb long forgotten by time. Creaks and groans of the old building fill the hallways of an old lecture theatre. Slouched in a chair without a care in the world sat a man who decided to bring his nonchalant attitude to where he studied, he obviously didn't care about the lecture he was sat in. Laying face down on the desk, fast asleep.
He was sat at the back as to not be seen, hoping he could be unnoticed and still get attendance at his daily lectures. His skin is pasty white as if the sun had never seen it, a baggy blue hoodie riddled with small holes resembling burn marks is draped over him giving the impression of a local delinquent, in contrast to the student he was supposed to be. A worn black leather jacket adorned this uncouth youth, paired with some blue jeans and heavy brown boots, his attire would suggest the clothes were thrown on hastily as if he'd picked the first thing he saw. With a stocky build and large thick shoulders the baggy hoodie did little to suppress his physique which gave the young man a noticeable presence and intimidating aura. Whether you like it or not you notice someone you have to walk around! He was large enough to be considered tall around 5'11, messy unkept hazel coloured hair drapes down to eye level giving the impression as if he’d rolled out of bed 5 minutes before arriving, adding to the already shoddy appearance.
However if one was to make eye contact with the sloth currently slouched on the desk, they would meet piercing green eyes which seem uncharacteristically sharp and calculating for a man such as this, a fox-like grin splashes along his face giving him a mix of an unrefined yet strong look, resembling a predator sizing up its prey or a person who had just swindled a man out of thousands. What made it worse was that it was hard to ascertain which one was worse! The room he was in could hold up to 200 but was rarely used due to the poor condition and the old dusty smell that permeated throughout the room, saturating everything in a musky blanket.
A couple dozen of students had gathered and scattered throughout the decrepit building listening to a lecture that was currently being held. “The simplified shell model that we have discussed reproduces the observed numbers" Glancing up the room the lecturer spots a slouched figure snoozing. "Eli! Will you wake up!!” with a simple pry over folded arms he peeks at the lecturer, sneering Eli retorts “Fine but can’t say I’ll be listening” other students turn and give disdainful looks, a fairly young female student wearing a displeased scowl grunts aggressively “be more respectful to the lecturer! some of us are actually trying to learn something today!” with clenched fists she seethes. “Alright! Fine just leave it already” Eli sighs dramatically, annoyed that his peaceful slumber had been interrupted "Just get on with it already, i have an appointment with my bed” he remarks waving his hand in a shooing manner returning his wary head to his thick arms that now acts like a perfect cushion. Eli never really got along with people, 'They're to complicated I'd rather be alone then with people who put on a façade, then again I guess that's what I'm doing too' Eli thought to himself mockingly. He'd never truly let free and allowed his emotions to surface, always repressed. Scared what would happen if he might let them surface.
The old and dilapidated lecture theatre was the one place he could relax, other then the occasional looming gaze of the lecturer he had a pleasant time snoozing and day-dreaming his way through the semester, although the smell was unpleasant Eli was used to it. Once your in here long enough you became accustomed to the heavy stench of rotting wood and damp filled rafters which almost gave him a comforting feeling whenever he was in the room, as it meant usually uninterrupted sleep, usually...
Rumble!!!!
The room started to shake, dust unsettling from the rafters being shaken loose, falling through the air like dirty snow.
Rumble!!!!
Re-arrangement imminent. Commencing shortly
“Wh-what the fu” before Eli could comprehend what was going on an earth-shattering sound, literally earth-shattering suddenly shook the room. The sound resembling a sonic boom swept across the theatre

Crack!!
Screams echo around the large hall as parts of the building begin to crumble and fall, rafters coming loose as if they were never joined in the first place! People desperately cling to whatever they can or hide under their desks whilst others try to flee for the assumed safety of the outdoors “Damn it!! What the fucks going on!!” Eli shouts in astonishment, flinging his chair back he turns and bounds forward making a mad dash for the exit, meters away from the door to the corridor fear creeps in as he draws closer! It was too late, everything went black.
Eyelids heavy and body aching Eli slowly comes out of his impromptu sleep “Hughhh, feels like I’ve been hit by a truck” Waking up on the floor, covered in pieces of debris from the fallen roof Eli glances around cautiously, trying to wrap his head on what he was witnessing. The room was poorly lit with a slight hazy light coming from far above of what used to be the ceiling, shining and illuminating the room enough for Eli to notice something he wish he didn't. Blood was splattered around the room haphazardly, as if someone got paint and threw it around making this feel more like a dream then reality. Eli's eyes grow wide in shock "Holy shit" he mutters through dust clogged breaths.
The smell of iron filled the air wafting around the room as blood pooled in shallow crevices made by the fallen debris, clearly today wasn't going to be a good day for Eli. As far as he could tell from the cursory glances throughout the room at least a dozen or so students including the teacher had been brutally but thankfully quickly dealt a swift decisive death. He ascertained this through the sheer amount of blood pouring from the gaps in the debris and the occasional hand or foot sticking out from fallen roof parts, he recognized a few through blood soaked clothing. Whilst he slept mostly during lectures the regular attendance of his fellow classmates brought a sense of comfort to him seeing the same faces day in day out. that had now drastically changed! Looking up and around he notices that the entire floor of the lecture theater had fallen through, from the entrance to the now deceased lecturers desk at the front had collapsed down a good 20ft below, as if a sink hole had suddenly swallowed the entire room. Before Eli could make sense of the horrifying sight in front of him a screen pops into existence.

Welcome to your New World, Only those who grow strong, Survive. Good Luck!!
The message didn't inspire hope in Eli, "The Fuck is this??" he winces in pain *cough* *cough*. Lifting his hoodie and feeling his ribs he'd definitely fallen hard as small welts and bruising began showing upon his torso. Before he could question the insanity of the blue screen and what it said, another popped into existence. Astonished and puzzled, Eli began to read.
