Chapter 2

I stood standing in the back of the dark cave, illuminated slightly by the glow of my Aura's psychic glimmer and the other mechanoids' light fixtures. It was kind of like a roll call. A head count of robots.

Standing before me was my Aura, one tunneler, one fabricor, three constructoids, and four lifters. There was of course, the empty halo portal sitting on it's pedestal. It remained dark, but a slight ever so distinct hum could be heard from it. The main difference is that there was seemingly no way a singular mechlink could control all of these mechs. And I was pretty sure I didn't have any extra mech armor on me.

"Hey Aura. How am I able to control all these mechanoids? Isn't there like a six unit cap for a mechanitor link?" I asked the Aura standing to the very left.

"Do not fret. When you awoke the first time, your mechanitor link was modified to handle at least 36 units. Not to mention the second iteration of you created a way for signals to travel through different dimensions. Hear that hum from the portal? That's the signals making its way here. And our home has thousands of units available."

I rubbed my chin with my finger, before putting my right fist in my left hand. "Alright then. If we're not really bound by any restrictions, lets get started on building a base of operations shall we?"

I held up one finger. "First, let's dig out where we'll build our base. We're already in an underground cavern, which I can guess is the Sinnoh Underground, from the fact that those miners were exchanging pearls and shards. Also, it seems no one is using the cavern we're in right now, since its filled to the brim by large chasms, stalagmites, stalactites, and loose rocks. Tunneler, you will help in building a tunnel into the earth."

I held up a second finger. "Second. There has to be some sort of coal or fuel in these rocks, as well as some magnetite for iron and steel production. Once we get an area established, the constructoids should build some basic furnaces to smelt the iron, which the fabricor could process into steel in a blast furnace. However, I know for a fact that we will need money and not to mention, pokeballs."

I held up a third finger. "Lastly, If we come across any shards, heart scales, plates, stones, whatever that looks foreign, put them in a separate box. I can possibly walk around the underground and sell them to other miners and merchants for money. Hey, maybe I can even go above ground to do some shopping too. But my current appearance may not be good for social interactions. But I need to get a pokeball... hmm..."

I glanced towards Aura as I scratched my chin. "The reason why I want a pokeball so badly is because it involves you Aura, so listen up."

She looked toward me, hands folded behind her back.

"If I'm correct," I pondered, "We can use a pokeball on you kind of like hidden transportation. It is imperative that no one sees any of you guys, and I need Aura because she can teleport. I will, without a doubt, get lost in the underground and aboveground too. Heck, I can't even dig without tunneler. If I can purchase a pokeball off of someone and use it on Aura, I'll have a way to teleport between the overworld and the underground."

I rubbed my hands in excitement and giddiness. Yes, yes! It was all coming together.

"Now!" I exclaimed, though partially hushed just in case anyone was still around. "Let's get to work!"

The mechs began to disperse, as they made plans on what to do. The tunneler, with it's large burly body and massive lobster like digging claws, plunged it's strength into the limestone and loose rock. The ground gave away easily under the live machinery, allowing for the tunneler to effortlessly plow through the ground. It wasn't long before there was a passageway going deep into the ground, and the constructoids made use of their time by chiseling out stairs for me to walk on. I wasn't sure if they were just bored or considerate, but I thanked them by giving them a thumbs up. Are mechanoids of this world smarter than before?

After about thirty minutes, the tunneler popped its head out of the tunnel, alerting that it's work has been finished by a sharp and cheerful ping sound. The other mechanoids, hearing this, began making their way down, and since Aura was following them, also followed too.

Turns out the tunneler was an absolute beast at digging out rooms. At the bottom of the staircase, the tunneler had already dug out a massive room about five meters high, and about twelve meters in both width and length. The constructoids were chatting to the tunneler in little beeps and pings, as they seemingly were planning to build a ventilation system. This time, I couldn't help it, and caressed one of the constructoids on the head. It pinged at me, wobbling back and forth, before returning to its work. It seemed happy.

The other two constructoids and the fabricor were hard at work, gathering up the stones the tunneler had dug up and the damp soil to build a rather good looking furnace, which they were now drying with a fire. The fabricor, after finishing its assistance in providing the clay cement, began sifting the iron from the rock powder with one of it's neodymium magnets.

I glanced around. In almost thirty minutes, they managed to do so much work. As I began walking around the room, the lifters were gathering the different rocks, ore, and building materials in different stockpiles. The constructoids, having finished the furnace, began using their spare time to pave the floor and construct the walls. I glanced to my right, as I heard the crumble of rocks from another room, as the tunneler did his thing. The Aura, stood there in front of me, watching everything.

"How..." I began. "How are they doing all of this?" I breathed in astonishment, watching as these perfect little machines were turning a barren room into a bustling factory.

"It is partially from your design and my administration." the Aura simply stated. "Your second version had greatly enhanced these mechanoids intelligence, giving them some amount of thought, understanding and independence. They still follow you of course. With their new intellect, they are grateful to you, and will follow you to the ends of the Earth. I'm more of an administrator. I talk to them through the mechlink, dishing out instructions."

"Hold up. Hold the phone." I said, holding up my hands and waving them back and forth. "You can access my mech link?"

"Why yes. Your second version gave me access. The amount of mechanoids were too much for himself to handle, so he gave me jurisdiction to aid in delegation." The Aura stood, her glow pulsating in a healthy yellow light. She seemed proud of herself, and so did I. She did a great job.

"Well, then," I said putting my bionic hand on her ordained shoulder plates, "You're doing a mighty fine good job, and I want you to keep up the good work."

"Affirmative," she said, bowing slightly and headed into the next room. I looked behind me, completely astonished and mesmerized that literally in the time I was talking with Aura, the room had been completely paved, paneled, supported, and lit up with electric lights from the ceiling.

"How the fu--" I mouthed, before I shut myself up.

Alright me, these are basically base boosted 'roided up mechanoids. Given how fast these guys are, they've probably done this so many times already. I need to calm down or I'm going to be surprised at everything.

I composed myself, coughed in my hand to clear my throat, and entered the next room.

The next room was completely finished already. What the fuck.

The room consisted of three massive generators, all already churning out power to some buzzing batteries nearby. Massive coal piles were stored up in the corner, and an array of mechanized claws attached to the ceiling were dumping coal into the nearby generators.

"Okay Aura." I said. "Now I have to ask. How the hell did we manage to build a battery and generator room so quickly?"

The Aura stared, before speaking. "We have archotechnology that allows some degree for 4D Hyperspace storage systems. Of course we would bring some generators with us, as well as a lot more basic materials."

"Oh," I said, feeling kind of dumb. " And who carried them?"

Aura pointed towards the lifters. I stared at them, kind of believing her but also not. Each lifter was at least three feet tall. It seemed almost impossible that they would be able to carry so many materials, including a massive coal generator.

"Still don't believe it? Watch." the Aura said. She snapped her fingers, though I'm pretty sure she didn't even need to do that anyways, and one of the lifters stopped what they were doing. It seemingly pushed their three finger claw arm into a rippling hole, before pulling out a massive ten foot long pipe.

"See?" she said, turning to me. I could only nod. It was probably best to stop asking questions and just watch. I had to plan how to sell some of the stuff we mined up.

First of all, my appearance. I looked like a total villain, no doubt about it. And with this world's abundance of villains, I required a complete wardrobe change.

"Aura, do we have any spare clothing?" Aura nodded, in which a lifter hovered to my side, pulling a box from within it's hyper storage. I bent down, picking it up and opening it.

Inside was a quite fashionable white duster, a baseball cap with a logo of some kind, a pair of comfortable leather gloves, a long sleeve modern undershirt, and a pair of shades. This was actually exactly what I needed. Quickly, I tore off my t-shirt, wearing the long sleeve shirt. It was marked with a symbol of a semiconductor wire going through a gear. Pretty cool I had to say.

Then I threw off my lab coat, hanging it on the a coat hook one of the constructoids had just installed, equipping the duster with ease and handing my pistol over to Aura. Then, I put on the baseball cap to cover my mop of hair and placed the shades over my eyes. Now, when I decreased the glow from my bionic eye, I looked like a perfectly normal human being, although with two different eye colors.

"You forgot the gloves. You still have to cover your bionic hand." Aura said, pointing at the forgotten apparel sitting in the corner of the cardboard crate.

"Oh, shoot, I almost forgot." I said, bending down and picking them up. "It just feels so normal. Like I don't even have an artificial arm at all."

"Then that means it's good quality. Try on the gloves." Aura said.

I did, and they felt great. The smooth leather felt nice in my hand, and I clenched my fingers, feeling the sensual texture and grip of the material.

"You look good." Aura said. "Remember to wear our symbol with pride."

"We have a symbol?" I asked confusedly. Aura nodded, pointing to the hat. I took the hat off, letting my white hair fall to one side of my face again. There was definitely a logo there. A bright yellow circuit board line passing through the hole of a beige cogwheel, before breaking off into a fork and ending with circles on each end.

"Oh! So the symbol is both on the shirt and the hat. It's pretty neat." I said, examining it. Aura nodded.

"Your previous mind came up with the design, and it has led us well. That symbol is well known among our allies, some rallying around it in happiness and comradery. It is a symbol of progress, teamwork, and our ambitious mindsets. Or as so previous you said."

I put the hat back on, in which another lifter came by, this time carrying another cardboard box. I picked it up, thanked the lifter, and opened it. Inside were small and large spheres galore, tons of shards, and even a couple fossils and evolution stones.

"Previous you always said time is of the essence, so if you can live up to him, it's best you get started and sell some of those gems we found. And don't worry, I'll be following you under an invisibility cloak. So if you get lost, I can always teleport you back." Aura said, her mechanically retro voice as soothing as ever.

I nodded, closed the lid of the box, and began to ascend the stairs, a mechanical guardian angel hot on my tail.
