Chapter 2: Two Souls

Chapter 2: Two Souls

(Ursula Li huh?)

Sheng Fei looked at the ID that was in the phone case that he found on the hoodie.

As far as he could tell, the girl that he possessed was the owner of these things.

(Hmm . . .$67 is all I can find? That’s a little hard to work with)

Sheng Fei had quickly gone through the two defeated men’s wallets and took the cash before he ran.

Right now, he was walking along the highway after evading the police.

He was extremely tired and it was the dead of night, so he tried to look for a place to sleep.

After going to two motels, he finally found one to stay the night for $60.

As soon Sheng Fei hit the bed, his consciousness melted.

----------------------------------------

(AAAAHHHHH!)

Sheng Fei opened their eyes but couldn’t move, it was just like sleep paralysis.

(What the? Ursula are you there?)

( . . . yes who are you? . . no what are you and what do you want?)

Sheng Fei calmed down a bit and realized that the original owner was awake again.

He was still alive and it wasn’t some kind of punishment in the afterlife.

(My name is Sheng Fei, I died and when I came to I guess I was about to die again. I don’t know why I’m with you and I just

wanted to live just like you)

( . . . I’m Ursula as you know)

(Yea, I checked your ID. What’s your Chinese name?)

( . . It’s Li Xiu)

(I’m sorry but you’re not strong enough to just knock both those men out)

(I know, I saw what you did to them)

(Do you hate me for rescuing us?)

(Are you some kind of crazy murderer?)

( . . . Weeell to some people I’m some kind of criminal. But legally? No. I guess you could call me a mercenary or a hired

gun. And those people probably deserved it too, considering what they wanted to do to you)

(Maybe)

(How did you even end up in that situation?)

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

(I . . it was my boyfriend, it turns out he was selling in someone’s territory)

(WHAT!? That’s stupid, why are you even hanging out with a dumbass like that?)

( . . SHUT UP! I . . I liked him and he convinced to run away with him . . .)

(This just keeps getting better and better)

(Hahaha It’s only been two weeks and I’ve already been abandoned by him. They caught me and he ran away . . . Then I

was almost sold and a ghost saves me HAHAHAHA)

Sheng Fei was silent and was glad that Li Xiu had let her feelings out.

(So, what’s next?)

(What?)

Li Xiu’s world had pretty much crashed down on her and she no longer cared what happened.

Had Sheng Fei not appeared, it is most likely that she would’ve killed herself as a result of all the accumulated stress

thrown on her.

(I still have some unfinished business you know, I was poisoned by someone I trusted. The punishment for their treachery

can only be death)

(Can’t you think of something nonviolent?)

Li Xiu was tired emotionally and physically but even so, she thought that Sheng Fei was being drastic.

From the way, he handled the men and his dogmatic demeanor, Sheng Fei might be a problem to deal with in the future.

(Personal vendetta aside, this person will probably seize control of my Black Phoenix clan. I’m afraid that under their

leadership, a lot of people will be harmed)

(What?)

(Black Phoenix was created by me several decades ago. Over time we built up power and resources to become a powerful

organization. I gathered people I trusted and created a place for us, a clan not of blood but bonds. People consider us a

PMC (Private Military Company). When I died, I had the clan working on many . . . dangerous projects)

(So, you’re afraid your successor will use all that power for their own ends?)

(Of course, but that’s the worst part. They probably used my death to solidify their power and gain complete control of the

clan. So that means that it’s easy to mobilize them. My people were thoroughly loyal to me . . . and this person will use that

loyalty to their own ends)

(It sounds like you know who killed you)

(Yes, they were someone close to me. So, close in fact that everyone in Black Phoenix would follow them without question as well)

(So how will you stop them?)

(WE shall stop them together . . . and anyone in the clan that gets in our way)

(WE!? I can’t do anything! I can’t fight let alone face these people if they are as dangerous as you)

(Don’t worry, with my help we can take them on . . . Partner)

(I don’t want to harm anyone . . . not anymore and I won’t allow you to do it either)

(Trust me, Li Xiu, they aren’t innocent civilians. Also, this might be beneficial to you too)

(How?)

(You ran away from home for some reason, right? Well I make sure you return with considerable power and wealth)

(Why would that appeal to me?)

(Really? Li Xiu, power and wealth can fix most things and if they don’t I’ll do it myself)

(I don’t know about this)

(Do you have anything better to do besides make bad decisions again?)

( . . . . . )

(It’s for the best Ursula, something I created has the potential to wreak havoc on the world. Just think of the good we could

do. And plus, we’re stuck together right now so I probably won’t shut up about it until you agree to it!)

What Sheng Fei said wasn’t wrong, Li Xiu was at the end of her rope.

Being bullied at home and several other problems in her life had made her want to escape.

Now she had the perfect chance to run away, but this time someone was offering her the opportunity of a life time.

And yet, she was scared.

She cursed her own weakness and wanted to become stronger but didn’t want to risk anything to become stronger.

Perhaps this was why she was letting herself be convinced by Sheng Fei.

(Not hurting others? The world has only hurt me. Perhaps it is time I change, after all I have nothing left to give. I can only go up from here!)

Li Xiu thought to herself.

Not harming others was only an excuse that she made, with Sheng Fei she will change and reclaim her life!

When she returned home, she would not be the chicken that left but a phoenix that shook the heavens.

His confidence and calculating attitude made her think that he might actually be able to pull it off without killing them.

( . . . okay, I’m in. But I have final say in anything I don’t like)

(Good! Don’t worry, we’ll end this. And we’ll both get our happy endings or at least make our enemies pay!)
