Until your Last Dying Breath
"You're efforts will all be for nothing!" The walls, roof and floor all began to suddenly close in one them. If he and Mirio did nothing then Chisaki would crush them to death, but he couldn't close the distance fast enough.
"Special Move: Phantom Thief!" Mirio dropped through the ground and used the downward momentum to launch himself at Chisaki. Upon reaching him he went on the offensive, punching Chiskaki upward and knocking the mask off his face. Then, in the moment he had to act where Chisaki couldn't do anything, he phased his hand through Chisaki's clothes. Less than a second later he ripped two cases through the jacket, one blue and one red. They were the refined drug.
"Give them back!" Chisaki reached towards Mirio with an outstretched hand, but fruitlessly he fell onto his back on the hard floor. Mirio then quickly retreated back towards Aurdel and Eri. Now that both Eri and the drug were in the same place, he couldn't risk destroying it all. He began to stumble back onto his feet, slamming his hand onto the ground and raising cover in front of him as Aurdel used one free hand to try and hit him with stun rounds again. "I will not allow all of my work to go to waste just because of the beliefs of a few Heroes!"
"-Smash!" Finally, one of the walls was broken through from the other side. Midoriya came charging in first, followed by Hawks, Nighteye, Eraserhead and Tokoyami.
"Where are the others?!" Aurdel shouted.
"Kirishima and Fat Gum were separated from us, and Rock Lock is restraining one of the Villains."
"Take him now!" Hawks shouted, a flurry of feathers flying from his wings and around the cover that Chisaki formed. A second later the Yakzua boss was in plain view.
"I've got him" Eraserhead shouted, his hair lifting as he used Erasure. The feathers dropped then Chisaki onto the ground with a thud. As he slammed his palm onto the ground nothing happened, his quirk has been erased. This fight was over. Aurdel looked up towards the ceiling, spotting crack letting in light from the surface. Their fight had really done a number on the structural integrity of the ground above their heads. Hopefully this was the end of it.
"Come on, let's get you out of here." Aurdel began to run towards the hole in the wall, when he suddenly there was someone they hadn't accounted for yet. Chrono. His eyes darted around, eventually finding another piece of cover that'd been raised near the others position. "Eraserhead, get back!" Aurdel drew his beretta again to try and fire a stun round, but is gun was out of ammo. One of the clock hands stretched out from Chrono's hood and struck Eraserhead in the stomach.
"Watch out!" Hawks used his feathers to pull the others out of the way as Eraserhead blinked, Chisaki using his quirk to throw up a mass of spikes where they'd just been standing. As Aurdel tried to make a break for the tunnel a thick wall was thrown in his face, and he quickly moved back to avoid himself and Eri being skewered as spikes drove their way.
"It took you long enough to get back up," Chisaki said, annoyed. "Katsukame's booster should be going into effect now too." He touched the ground and a series of spikes fired from the ground towards the ceiling, blowing a hole through the road in front of the Yakuza compound. Froppy, Uravity, Ryukyu, a number of the police officers, a few restrained criminals and the large Yakuza that they’d fought all fell from above. Even from here he could see that the ones on his side were nearly totally drained of their energy, the direct effect of the big one's quirk. "Deal with them!" Chisaki shouted, breaking apart and reforming Katsukame to get rid of any damage the Heroes had previously done.
"Yes sir!" The large Yakuza shouted, bringing about his large fists to slam into Ryukyu's dragon form. With renewed energy and the others being exhausted it meant that they would be taking part in a losing fight. Hawks’ feathers separated and tried to deal with both Overhaul and Katsukame, but now the former was able to simply swat them away and the latter seemed to only have his movement just barely hindered by the swarm. It's not like they could use Eraserhead to deal with them either, as he'd seemed to disappear with Chrono when Chisaki had thrown up that massive wall. Then, Aurdel heard a loud crumbling sound. Large sections of dirt concrete and asphalt began falling from above, threatening to crush anyone standing below them. Everyone scrambled out of the path of the debris, with Midoriya and his classmates rapidly moving to help the officers and criminals that had fallen from above.
"Hawks, forget them. Get the girl out of here! If she doesn't escape then this operation is a failure!" Aurdel shouted lifting, Eri with both arms above his head. As he turned towards Chisaki he could see a vein bulge from his forehead, well aware of what he was trying to do. More waves of spikes surged towards him in an attempt to skewer him, but Aurdel just barely kept moving fast enough to avoid being hit. At the same time he moved carefully, making sure not to drop Eri. Ten seconds passed before the individual feathers rusehd over and took hold of Eri, pulling her out of his hands and bringing her over towards Hawks.
"No!" Chisaki shouted, reaching up towards the two. Now that Chisaki was the one going on the offensive he had the disadvantage, being nowhere near able to keep up with Hawks’ speed and maneuverability. Aurdel slammed into one of the nearby spikes and broke it off the ground. Picking it up he then chucked it full force at Chisaki, drawing his attention away for just a moment as he went to retaliate.
But even if it was only for a moment, that distraction was what they needed. "Manchester Smash!” Midoriya dove down from above, using the heel of his boot to kick Chisaki downward towards the ground. The blow had enough more force that the Yakuza boss' legs collapsed under his own weight, bouncing him off the ground and into the air "Lemillion, now!"
"Right!" Mirio handed off the case with the drug to a nearby officer, then dropped into the ground. "Improvised Special Move: Air Support Smash!" He launched into the air and struck Chisaki, rebounding back and forth using bits of debris that were still in the air. With every pass he made a kick and punch at every angle he could dealing a total of around two dozen direct. Midoriya then hopped up and came down with Mirio for the final strike, kicking Chisaki in the stomach and sending him flying across the room. At the same time Aurdel, hadn't just been standing around with his thumb up his ass. Instead, he’d gone with Tokoyami and Nighteye to put down Katsukame.
Nighteye drew a number of hyper dense seals out from his sleeve, throwing them like darts the kneecaps of the monster sized man. Katsukame's legs straightened up and froze out of reflex to the blow, as even if he could physically take the blow and the resulting pain his body would still perform the tried and tested response. Tokoyami used Dark Shadow to grab him by the legs, prying him off the ground and lifting him into the air. Immobilized, Aurdel took the opportunity to hop on and began to strike him over and over. With rapid, knife-like blows he was able to attack through his rather thick skin and muscles, targeting the soft organs inside his body. He struck one organ after another, ending his barrage by dealing a blow to his liver and kidneys. The resulting body-wide stimulation of pain receptors and flooding of toxins forced the Katsukame to go limp. As Aurdel hopped off Ryukyu then dealt the final blow, grabbing him by the chest with her massive claw and repeatedly stomping him into the ground before tossing him across the room.
Aurdel looked up, the situation on the surface looked like it was getting worse by the minute. More of the ground was crumbling as the few remaining pipes and cables holding it together started snapped. If something wasn't done, then it was possible half of the building above them would land on their. "Uravity, take Tsukuyomi with you and try to support the area above ground for as long as you can. We need evacuate everyone out from down here
"Got it!" Uraraka said, floating herself and Tokoyami up towards the ceiling
"Ryukyu, grab anyone who fell down here and take them to the surface. Nejire, Froppy, go above ground and make sure that anyone still on the surface is out of the range of this fight. Search the houses for any civilians too, there shouldn’t be anyone here but I don’t want to risk anyone else getting caught up in the collapse when the ground finally gives way."
"You can count on us!" Nejire said, bringing Froppy up with her towards the surface..
"We... We did it..." Midoriya said, looking where Chisaki and the two other Villains in the room lay. Chisaki was obscured behind the large one, and judging by the beating he'd gone through it should have been safe to assume that he was knocked out...
“Well now, what did I tell you?” Hawks said, floating back down without Eri,. “There really was nothing to worry about.” In reality, things were still more complicated than they anticipated.
"Disgusting." Aurdel heard it at a barely audible level. He quickly reloaded his beretta with another mag of stun rounds, looking for Chisaki. But he couldn't see him. The Yakuza boss had essentially encased himself in stone to give him a moment to act. Near him was a syringe left on the ground, the kind used to inject Trigger. "I find using this filth absolutely disgusting. But now what I think of it doesn't matter. All that matters now is that I crush you here, and that I remove the disease known as Heroism that plagues this world!" As the drug went active the air around the encasement rippled, like somehow he was now able to reassemble the very air around him. A rapid compression and decompression took place, blowing back everyone except Aurdel
"Don't get close to him!" Not knowing what the new range of his quirk would be, they couldn't risk getting in close for combat. Aurdel pushed Mirio and Midoriya back as he opened fire on Chisaki, the stun rounds impacting against a sloped wall that suddenly appeared in front of him. Then the wall disintegrated.
Overhaul raised his hands into the air and looked him dead in the eyes, murderous intent and anger inside of his own. "All of the Bullets are loyal to me, and will die for me if necessary." He placed one hand on the Katsukame, one on Nemoto. The three figures then broke apart into chunks of flesh and blood, creating a red mist. Chunks of rock were torn out from the ground as flesh and blood swirled around, forming a sort of skeleton. Then once the skeleton was complete the rest of the body was grafted on, forming a sort of kaiju-like monster that stared them down
Overhaul raised several of his now many hands, slamming them at full force into the ground and activating his quirk. Almost instantly a square mile’s worth of ground was obliterated beneath their very feet, causing them to fall the distance of material that was destroyed. Aurdel muttered a curse under his breath, maneuvering towards two officers who were yet to climb onto Ryukyu. Midoriya, Mirio and Hawks made sure to catch the rest, dragging them onto her back. As they touched down on the ground massive spires of rock and dirt swirled upwards through the air, stretching upwards towards the sky and making their way. With mini-tremors in his wake Overhaul walked over to the spires, using them as a way to climb out. "Give me the red case."
The officer Mirio had given the case to handed it to hiim, Aurdel opened it. Four quirk erasing bullets. "What are you planning to do?" Nighteye asked.
Aurdel dropped the magazine out of the gun, manually inserting the syringe into the chamber. "I'll give him a taste of his own medicine and destroy his quirk. If it is destroyed, then he should lose his current form and allow us to win the battle."
"How are you going to get up there?" Midoriya asked, watching as Overhaul climbed up the spires towards the surface. "It's a long way up, and if the spires collapse while you're climbing-"
"I'll figure it out," he turned, "Deku, get above ground as quickly as you can and find Eri. Keep her out of Overhauls hands. Nighteye, Lemillion, find where Overhaul put Eraserhead and Chrono. If the bullet doesn't work we have only one way to stop him. Hawks, stay with them and bring them to the surface once they find him." For a moment a few of them seemed hesitant to follow his orders, but they relented.
He took a deep breath, cursing himself for not having brought his thrusterpack today due to calibrations issues, and then broke into a full sprint towards the spires. The massive stone structures were nearly ten feet thick and stretched up far into the sky for a distance he didn’t bother to calculate. With his built up momentum he was able to get into a running jump, soaring through the air and landing at a quite respectable distance up the spire. But it’s not like one jump was enough to scale the entire thing. So he started climbing. And, even when compared to his years of training and experience, this had to be some of the most dangerous climbing he’d ever done. Massive gusts of winds blew down and around him, threatening to throw him off if he moved in the wrong direction. Bad footholds were common, crumbling under his weight as he tried to move upwards. There were also loose chunks of the spire that fell down from above, threatening to hit him and flatten him on the ground below. On top of all that he was doing it all without any real safety equipment. And while he certainly had survived taller falls before in his armor, he didn’t find hitting the ground at terminal velocity a pleasant experience.
A large crack formed across the first spire, forcing him to increase his speed in the already very precarious situation that he found himself in. It was at a pace which no normal human could match, and even very few Spartans could do so either. Fortunately, he had some past experience to help him. Then he heard a noise that sounded like thunder echo throughout the hollow arena. The spire next to him had begun to collapse and lean in his direction, and after mere moments of continued climbing it had completely fallen onto his spire. As that one tipped over he switched from climbing to running across it, before jumping to the next one. All four spires began to fall like a chain of dominoes, and by the time the fourth one was ready to completely collapse he was in jumping distance from the surface. He leapt off of the spire and grabbed onto an exposed pipe underneath the road, pulling him up and onto the surface just before the pipe snapped in half
Looking around he could see that the situation was worse than he'd previously assumed, Overhaul had gone into blind rage. Now that he was on the surface he was wantonly destroying homes in what seemed like an attempt at anger relief, and in a vain attempt to find where Eri was hiding. Entire houses were crushed or collapsed, and cars were reduced to flattened, smoldering wrecks. Aurdel stuck his head back into the hole and amplified his speakers "This is your chance, get out of there hole!" At moment Ryukyu barely managed to fly her way out, carrying on her back a group of police officers and Yakuza that'd fallen in. After making it onto supported ground he collapsed into unconsciousness. Following her was Tokoyami who was still under the effects of Uraraka's quirk, floating his way out of the hole. Uraraka went next, her face going pale from nausea of supporting so much ground. At the last second before she reached the edge her quirk gave out, and she suddenly released everything she’d floated. Including herself. "Got you!" Aurdel quickly shot out over the edge and grabbed her by the arm, pulling her over and quickly running with her onto solid ground as the sections they'd been supporting gave way and collapsed.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"I'm sorry… I'm too tired..." Almost as soon as he let Uraraka stand on her own she collapsed onto the side out of exhaustion.
"You did everything you could, and that's more than I could ask for. Just get to safety and try to catch your breath, there's going to be a lot of work when this his over." He helped her back onto her feet, allowing her to lean on Tokoyami as they retreated. Aurdel looked at the unconscious Ryukyu. Having her to fight Overhaul in his current state would be a boon, but she was just too tired and there was nothing they could do. He turned his attention back towards Overhaul, who was busying crushing buildings trying to find Eri. He let out a guttural scream of rage and frustration, an awful sounding. It was like he’d truly lost his mind.
"Eri, you belong to me and you know it!" Overhaul shouted, his voice amplified by using Nemoto's quirk to try and target Eri specifically, “If you don't give up now then you're just going to get more people killed! What you are is a curse, one that must be controlled for the safety of everyone else!" Aurdel sprinted in the direction of Overhaul’s rampage, coming into what should be the effective range of the bullets He needed to get in close because the syringes had different flight characters than an actual bullet. He only had four to use, and if he didn't make his shots count then he wasn't sure what they'd do. "Show me where you are!" He pulled the trigger once, one of syringes leaving the barrel and gunned it straight for Overhaul. As it flew towards him a strong just of wind blew it off course, directing it away from the mounds of flesh on Overhaul's body and instead strike the essentially exoskeleton made of stone and concrete. He cursed under his breath, not close enough. As he ran forward he loaded another syringe into the gun, aiming with compensation for the extreme winds occurring around Overhaul. As soon as he believed he could take the shot he did, syringe firing from the gun. “You will pay!” Overhaul turned his head, the bullet had no effect The outer layer of flesh and skin had become hardened to such a degree that the bullet couldn't pierce the surface, meaning that it instead harmlessly plinked off before shattering on the ground
Overhaul responded with a combination of attacks using his massive arms. Some he slammed into the ground to grab more material, using it to create a surging wave off huge spikes that chased after him. As they approached he maneuvered from one to another, the large size somewhat helping him due to Overhaul's skewed perspective. using them to avoid being struck entirely as he tried to close the distance. Next were several large boulders flung in his direction, each one being larger and heavier than the last. He only narrowly avoided them as they came his way, bowling their way through the ground as they flew in. For almost all of them he was able to sidestep the attacks or dive out the way, but the last one was far too large to do any of that. “Smash!" Then out of nowhere came Midoriya, destroying the last boulder that had come barreling towards him. "Mr. Aurdel, are you alright?"
"Don't worry about defending me,” he said, shaking his head, “Look, I need you to find Eri and make sure that she's safe. Take her over to the next ward if you have to. Just leave this fight to us.”
"Fighting something like that is incredibly dangerous... But I trust you!” They then separated, each heading in a different direction. Aurdel slid onto his knees as Overhaul threw a car at him, the bottom of the vehicle barely missing scraping across the top of his helmet. After flying past him it slammed hard into a house and exploded, he kept charging forward. His eyes widened slightly as Overhaul reached into the ground, picking up an entire two story home and threw it in his direction. There way no way for him to move out of the way, and there was no way for him to run through it. He'd just have to try to not be. Everything around him felt like it slowed down as he concentrated, timing his jump so he would kick through the door and end up inside the house. Then while he was inside and the house rotated he picked up momentum, using it to essentially fly back out the same door he’d entered through. Only this time it was in the opposite direction, leaving him still facing Overhaul. The whole process took mere milliseconds to actually accomplish, but in his mind making a move like that felt like an eternity. Aurdel landed back on his feet and kept charging towards the Yakuza boss turned kaiju, much to his frustration. So the attacks kept coming
Huge wave of projectiles were thrown Audel's way. Some were the size of cannonballs, others were the size of cars. Size wasn’t the issue though, it was the fact that the air was now filled with them. Almost any way he turned there was another chunk of debris coming towards him, and eventually his luck ran out. A large chunk of concrete slammed him in chest and threw him backwards, landing on the ground. More pieces soon followed as he pushed the concrete off of him, slamming against his armor.
"I told you to stay out of my way” The projectiles increased in speed, intensity and number. Soon enough he was struck by a chunk of wall the size of a car, and the hail of projectiles stopped flying at him, “Eri, tell me where you are so I can put all of this to an end!” Overhaul shouted, using Nemoto’s quirk to force her to answer. But what happened next was not something that anyone of them could have expected
Suddenly, off in the distance, he watched a bright bolt of light shot across the sky. Narrowing his view he was able to see that it was Midoriya, his hair standing up in a bright tint and Eri tied to his back with Mirio's red cape. A green-blue corona of light surrounded them, stretches out lightning seeming to emanate outward from the duo. Midoriya kicked downward with one leg, launching he and Eri into the sky with a violent wind following in their wake. The shockwave from the kick and the ensuing wind drew up a large amount of dust from all the debris, heavily reducing the visibility. Then, In the blink of an eye, the cloud was gone. With it were waves of projectiles that Overhaul had thrown at Midoriya, each one returned to its sender. Midoriya kicked backwards, launching himself at Overhaul. Reeling his leg back he kicked again. And this time, when he did, Aurdel was met with a sight to truly behold. Overhaul was sent flying practically miles upward into the air, large chunks of flesh and stone ripping off from his body.
Overhaul tried to reform in mid-air, changing to have as many hands as possible in order to grab Midoriya to tear him apart. But the boy seemed to just have too much strength. Punching the air alone caused a shockwave, blowing off the extra appendages. “Why can’t any of you… See the bigger picture?!” Aurdel continued to run towards the fight, with Overhaul was falling back to the earth and Midoriya in hot pursuit. “You have no vision for the future. I’ll tear down this diseased world!” The arms regrew, each one trying to swat Midoriya out of the air. But none could hit their mark.
"Need a lift?” Then almost out of nowhere, Mirio appeared. Building up enough momentum by falling a great distance into the ground, when he surfaced he grabbed Aurdel and launched him towards Overhaul. Aurdel prepared himself as Midoriya distracted the Yakuza boss, aiming for the main body where his head still was. Midoriya did the same from the opposite direction, with the sun to his back casting a shadow on his face. Simultaneously they struck Overhaul. In normal circumstances his own punch would have been enough to knock the man out, but Midoriya’s blow was one to truly be in awe of. Overhaul was sent flying into the ground at an ballistic speeds, kicking up another dust cloud and causing a minor earthquake on the moment of impact.
Aurdel locked his armor as he fell, eventually landing on the ground near where Overhaul landed with a loud thud. After unlocking his armor he then walked over to the main body. Overhaul was definitely down for the count now, but there was no telling how long he might stay out or what he might do when he wakes up. There was only one thing for him to do. Aurdel walked over and placed his hand on Overhaul’s forehead, feeling the transfer of the quirk take place. Then once he knew that it was done he placed his hand on the body itself, and through trial and error he managed to separate the three men from all of the debris. The battle was, finally, over.
Aftermath
Before he was forced to explain himself, Aurdel used his newly acquired quirk to assist in the search and restoration efforts of the area that had seen much destruction in the fight. Almost half of the neighborhood was completely annihilated, the rest having some severe to serious damage. Luckily, though, there weren't any civilian casualties. Being a weekday meant that most people were at work or at school, and those that had been at home were either evacuated early on or before the fight had gotten even worse. On their side there were several people with injuries. Hawks, after having come into contact with Eri earlier, suffered an aneurysm last into the raid, Amajiki had been injured in a fight with three Yakuza members, Kirishima had severe damage done to the skin across his arms and some bone fractures, Fat Gum had a broken rib alongside major bruising and the loss of all his fat stores, Rock Lock had several trauma wounds, Eraserhead had a stab wound and temporary minor hearing loss, a number of police had cuts and fractured bones, Mirio had a number of cuts and scrapes, Tokoyami had some minor bruises, Nighteye had some small scrapes and Uraraka, Asui, Nejire and Ryukyu had to be rehydrated with electrolytes intravenously. As for the Yakuza, many of them were injured due to actively resisting police and Hero efforts and having to be essentially beaten into submission.
But there was one case of injuries that became incredibly odd upon being looked into, and that was of Midoriya and Eri. As it turned out the surge in Midoriya power had come from Eri's quirk, something that they'd hadn't expected due to misidentifying her power. Because before now they’d thought that it was simply a quirk that could destroy other quirks, but in truth it was a quirk that allowed for the rewinding of the human body. It’d only been the express goal of Overhaul to use that power to make the quirk destroying bullets, and not the actual quirk itself. And as it turned out Midoriya was the only one that could have carried her as her quirk ran rampant. The full output of his power breaking his bones and causing his body serious damage meant that her power focused on rewinding his injuries, and nothing else. It's likely that this had begun when Hawks took her to the surface, and was why he'd later suffered an aneurysm.
Regardless of that, however, there was one large elephant left in the room to discuss. “That quirk you have, it's All For One's," Nighteye stated. He, Aurdel and Midoriya were all gathered in one place away from the others, speaking in hushed whispers.
"It is."
"Why didn't you tell us?" Midoriya asked.
"I didn't know I had this power until a few days ago, and even then I wasn’t sure what to make of it until today when Nemoto tried to make me reveal the power I had." Aurdel looked down at his hand, "But this doesn't change anything. I'm still the same person."
"It changes a lot." Nighteye shook his head, "Quirks are complicated. They're not like not some kind of computer or machine, where pieces can be swapped out haphazardly without any issue. Taking a quirk and transplanting it into a different person would mean taking a part of the original person with it, leave an imprint of the original owner inside the quirk. It's not something that’s found in hereditary quirks passed from parent to child.”
Midoriya seemed to pick up from there, "And One For All is like that, it's transferred from person to person. I was able to see the previous users of One For All in a vision, the ones who passed it on."
"Then I'll finish your assumption and say that you think All For One is inside my head." He gave a tired sigh, "If he's in my head, then he hasn't made himself known. And if you think that he’ll be able to control me, then don't bother. He can’t."
"How can you be so sure?
"Because it's just not impossible. Part of my training involved mental conditioning, to fight against things like brainwashing, subliminal suggestions and any other psychological tactic that might be used against me. So so long as there’s no quirk that can just directly taking control of my body, he's stuck playing mind games that he can't win." He folded his arms, "Besides, if we’re going to work under the assumption that having someone hidden in a quirk like this allows them to take over a new body, then why hasn't it happened to him?" He gestured towards Midoriya. "You've had your quirk for much longer than I've had mine, but you're still completely in control of yourself."
"I guess you're right…" Midoriya said, "But you still have the quirk of the most dangerous and evil Villains to ever exist. Not to mention, you now have Overhaul’s quirk too."
"I can understand the concern, but I can handle it. Even if they do somehow manage to try and take over, then just take solace in the fact that I know how to put an end to it.” He brandished the gun he had with him, pointing it at himself to emphasize just what he meant. After that he stowed the weapon away. “Ultimately it’s better to take these powerful abilities away from Villains rather than to let them keep them in prison. I can already think of a number of things I can use them for to help people.”
“Like what?”
“Well, for starters…”
----------------------------------------
"Breaking News from the world of Heroes!" The newscaster said, "We finally have an answer to what all that commotion this morning was about. In one of the residential districts a joint raid by the police and a number of Heroes took place, targeting the Yakuza clan known as the Shie Hassaikai. Over five hundred individual Yakuza members were arrested, among them being the young Yakuza clan head Kai Chisaki and the former boss. The raid was in response to the gangs increasing prominence in the drug trade, creating and distributing the quirk enhancing drug known as Trigger among other drugs. Taking part in the raid were some of the nations top Heroes and agencies, such as Nighteye, Fat Gum, Hawks, Ryukyu and, of course, the recently debuting Spartan. During the fight to secure the Yakuza hideout a large deal of damage was dealt to the surrounding area at the hands of the young boss during his rampage. However, it has been curiously noted that almost all of the damage that happened as a result of the fight between Yakuza members and Heroes was quickly repaired, something that we can’t say has ever happened before with fights on this scale.” Another person briefly came in view of the camera, stepping over to whisper into the newscaster's ear. "W-W-Well listeners! We have some even more pressing breaking news for you! According to press statements released by several Hero agencies, a number of pro-Heroes will be returning to active public duty. This list includes Endeavor, Edgeshot and Mt. Lady, all having made a near miraculous recovery after what seemed like a long period of uncertainty. It's not known at this time what allowed them to so suddenly recover, however I feel that I speak on behalf of many when I say that having these pros back on the streets is for the best. So whoever helped those Heroes recover, we-" Aurdel turned off the TV.
"Never did I think that I would ever see All For One's evil powers used for a truly good purpose," All Might said. He laid back in the chair, “The moment most people knew they had a power like that, they would begin doing as All For One did. Performing evil deeds for the sake of evil and taking quirks just to increase their power. But you didn’t."
"Despite how dubious it may seem at times, I do have a moral code. I try to help anyone I can in any way I can, no matter what it may be. Besides, I felt a little guilty after that fight with All For One. They walked away injured and without their powers while I walked away with barely a scratch on me. The least I could do was use what All For One gave me to take back what was theirs."
"I suppose that would make as good a reason as any," All Might said, a slight grin on his face.
"What about you? With Overhaul, I could heal your wounds. You could even go back to being a Hero."
"Young Midoriya told you about them, didn't he? You can heal my wounds, but I can’t go back to being a pro-Hero. No one can do something forever, and at some point sooner or later I was going to have to retire. I feel the way it all happened was the best for all involved." He sighed, "Even if I did, the quirk that I passed on to Midoriya wouldn't come back to me. It doesn't work like that."
"Then why don't you have the quirk analyzed? They could very well make a breakthrough and try to synthesize a copy, especially if I brush up on my biomechanics and genetics and try to help them. After all, cloning technology exists where I'm from."
"Like I said, even if I wanted to keep going I would have to still give it up eventually. It’s not like there’s anything wrong with teaching the next generation of Heroes instead." He smiled, "Besides, I'm not sure how far you would get studying One For All. I myself don't know its full extent. You’d have to talk to Midoriya to try and figure it out."
"I suppose you're right," he stood up, "But then what about at least repairing your body to remove your injuries? Do you have any objections to that? I'm practically willing to try it out on myself, though I won't do so for personal reasons."
"Personal reasons?"
"I have an artificial leg, one that I received when I was younger because my real leg was disfigured during training. Theoretically now I could get rid of it and try to replace it with a real one. But I won’t. I plan to keep it as a sort of reminder for the future.”
"I can understand why you might hesitate, having a reason like that. But no, I don't have any objections to you repairing my body. The only way I'll ever be able to properly train Midoriya is if I too am in my peak condition."
"Then you'll do it."
"Yes, I will."
"Alright, stand still. This will take me just a moment."
