Bob's Bar
Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Bob stared at the corpse of the elf. He had bleed out from his wound quickly. The elf died in fear and agony, and Bob wasn't sure how he felt about that. Something tickled at his subconscious saying that the elf was a threat and you must eliminate the threat. He thought he should feel grief over what he had done, but nothing was there, just satisfaction at coming out on top. Where had his ability to fight come from? He knew, he knew how to, but had no idea where the knowledge had come from. It felt more like an instinct, rather than learned knowledge. Bob was lost in his thoughts and was startled out of them by the announcers voice.

"Congratulations avatar, proceed to the door behind you," The announcer said.

Bob turned around and started walking. When he had first come into the arena, he was just there, he didn't go through any door, that he knew of anyway. He took the time to really get a look at the arena he was in. There were in fact multiple doors in the walls, they blended in well. He looked up and saw that each private box had intricate symbols on them and were colored. Above the private boxes, the people in the stands wore the same colors. The stands were divided by these colors. There were clear lines between each section, everybody had their section and stayed in it. The stands were tired as well, just above the boxes, less people were there, but the seating looked plush, above that, more people and less plush seating. This continued to the top. Some boxes and seating areas were larger than the others. In what Bob thought was the center of the arena circle was an extravagant-looking private box. It had two symbols on it and was divided evenly, one-half white and the other half black. Bob finally reached the door he was walking to. Going inside, he found himself in an antechamber of sorts. The door he entered through closed behind him. He was left there standing in the dark.

In their private box Mischief cackled with laughter. He could not believe what just happened. The human ripped that elf's manhood from him and made a hilarious noise when seeing what was in his hand. Pain was in ecstasy, holding his arms high in the air reveling. Harmony was disgusted and furious. After Pain and Mischief regained their composure they both nodded to each other.

"He's getting our favor right," Mischief asked.

"Absolutely," Pain replied.

"That human needs to be put down," Harmony complained. "What kind of a savage does that to another being?"

"The kind that will either go far in this place or die spectacularly," Pain said.

"I believe he is going to make things interesting," Mischief said.

"About our new followers," Pain started to say but was cut off by Harmony.

"Yes, yes, I have already paid, they belong to you now," Harmony said irritated.

"Great, now to use them up for the favors we are going to grant," Mischief said.

Harmony scowled at him. She got out of her chair and blinked out of the room.

"You felt it right," Mischief asked in a serious tone. Pain shook his head in acknowledgment. "interesting indeed."

"Are there any who wish to grant the victor their favor," The announcer called to the crowd. Both Mischief and Pain blinked into the air above the center of the arena. In unison, they both said "Aye."

The smaller door in the back of the antechamber opened, and dull light showed through.

"Let's go whelp," a man shouted to him. The man stood back in the doorway and beckoned him to through. The man was thick with muscle, looked to be on the older side, and had a bald head and an eye patch over his left eye. He wore a simple white shirt, brown trousers, and sandals. Bob followed him. They walked down a long sandy brown hallway, there were dull lights at even intervals on the ceiling, leaving dark shadows on the walls. Bob didn't like this hallway, too many shadows. They came to another door and walked through, the man still leading him. They came into a large room with cages stacked on top of one another, floor to ceiling, measuring about ten foot by ten foot. Each cage had a person inside. All of the cages had a door that swung outwards, to the side of the door was a ladder. The floor and ceiling of each cage were solid and colored the same as the walls. Bob stopped.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

"What is this," Bob asked.

The man turned around. "This is your new home whelp," the man answered, snickering. "You are lucky, you got the penthouse." He pointed up at a cage with its door open. It was at the very top of one of the stacks. "Get climbing."

Bob glared at the older man for a moment. The man grinned back at him. Shaking his head, Bob climbed the stairs and into his cage, the door slammed shut behind him. Inside the cage at the back was a thin sleeping pad with a pillow, a toilet, and sink. The sink had a washcloth draped over it. Bob turned around facing the bars, the older man had left. He was being stared at by the other people in the cages. He met some of their eyes, and they quickly looked away. He walked back to the sink and washcloth and cleaned himself. After he wiped all the blood and sweat off of him he planned on going to sleep. He walked to his sleeping pad, what he thought was his pillow, was actually clean clothes. It was a white long-sleeve fabric shirt, black trousers, and leather sandals, neatly folded and stacked on top of each other. Bob put on his shirt and trousers, he set the sandals to the side of his sleeping pad. With a sigh, Bob laid down on his thin pad. The pad was uncomfortable but found himself too exhausted to care and quickly fell asleep.

The system screen appeared in Bob's vision. He was back in that black void. This time, however, felt different. He didn't feel like he needed to rush. Bob took his time and thought about his attributes. He felt strong, so he didn't think he needed to put any points into strength. He got a little winded during the fight so maybe extra stamina would help? He knew that his main attributes for his class were Intelligence and Dexterity, but he wanted to be a little more well-rounded. He needed more information first. He thought hard on his attributes.

"Why couldn't I see this screen when I was going through the avatar creation," Bob asked in his mind. "It was probably rushing me so I could get in that fight."

He read over each description and made his choice. He was putting one point each into stamina and wisdom. He figured that being able to recover faster would be a much-needed boon. He didn't know when he had to fight again and wanted to make sure he was body was going to be in good health. He also wasn't sure how many people chose a magic class, so having resistance there was a good precaution. After making his decision he could see the points were allocated. A new screen appeared.
