Bob ran towards the scream at a cautious pace. He wanted to finish off the two fire throwers but didn't want to get caught off guard. As soon as he cleared the smoke, he came to an abrupt stop. He almost ran straight into a ten-foot-high and ten-foot-wide wall of fire. In between the flames, he could make out the two fire throwers. One of them, the female elf, was frozen from the ground to their waist, and the other, the male human, had just their feet frozen to the ground. It looked like they were stuck in place unable to move without risk of losing body parts. The fire thrower that was halfway frozen looked delirious but still managed to summon a fireball in his hand. She brought it close to the ice, breathing heavily as she tried to maintain the ability while also melting the ice to get free.
Bob started running to the end of the firewall grabbing a fire flask from his bandolier. He had one more flask in his bandolier, it was another fire flask. As soon as he came around the firewall he had to dodge a flame spear hurling for his chest. He threw his body right, landing hard on the ground, and scrabbled back up to his feet quickly. The fire thrower that only had their feet frozen prepared another flame spear and launched it. Unfortunately for him, he moved his body too much when launching the spell. A sharp crack was heard, shortly by another. The flame thrower fell to the ground screaming having snapped off both of his feet. Bob took his opportunity and threw the fire flask at the downed man. He had aimed his throw to hit center mass on the downed man, but they moved at the last second having rolled on their side. The flask hit the ground an inch away from the man's back and exploded. The whole upper torso of the man exploded in a shower of blood, body parts, and viscera. Bob was hoping that the explosion would also take out the elf, but the angle wasn't right. He had stood there for too long, however, and paid for it. The elf flame thrower had stopped trying to free herself and instead summoned a flame spear. She was more careful than her counterpart as she launched it. Bob saw the spear a little late and tried to get out of the way, but it pierced his left thigh. He screamed in pain as the flame spear seared his flesh. He could feel his leg being cooked from the inside. The smell of burning flesh and leather wafted through the air as the flame dissipated leaving behind a hole in his thigh. The elf started to prepare another flame spear.
Seeing the spear coming into existence was enough motivation to get Bob moving again. The pain in his leg almost made him black out, but he pushed threw it, summoning a fire flask and throwing it at the elf. The elf panicked and lost control of her ability, it flashed out of existence, and she screamed watching the flask fly towards her. The throw was weak, but still hit the elven flame thrower, right at her waist. It cut her in half. Her frozen legs shattered, and her upper torso flew into the air in an arc, her arms flopping like a ragdoll. Bob was breathing heavily, he was struggling to catch his breath. He knew this was a close call, having almost lost against the two fire throwers. He felt lucky to be alive. Still, on one knee, he surveyed the rest of the arena.
Bob killed four avatars himself, he saw the body of one other avatar before the fight with the flame throwers which was five down. He was a little taken aback at the fact he had almost killed half the fighters by himself so far. The assassin looked to have killed the barbarian and one of the ranged avatars was also down. It was three avatars remaining. Bob stayed kneeling on his good knee trying to get his mind past the pain in his leg as he watched the fight between the assassin and ranged avatars.

The assassin and ranged avatars were both incredibly nimble. Both avoiding attacks with grace. The assassin was a male elf, and the ranged a male human. The ranged male was trying to get more distance from the assassin, but couldn't seem to get the space he wanted. The assassin was relentless, constantly dashing in swinging or thrusting out with their daggers. The human activated an ability leaping backward in the air. He quickly pulled an arrow and knocked it in his weapon, drew back, and released. The elf had been chasing the human when the arrow was launched at him. The elf jerked his head to the side narrowly avoiding the arrow. It still managed to cut his cheek open, and blood quickly poured from the wound. The human landed on their feet and drew their weapon back, this time without knocking an arrow first. It was clearly another ability being activated as a green line of light came into existence in the shape of an arrow. The light momentarily blinded the ranged fighter as he launched the ability. The arrow of green light flew straight at the spot where the assassin had been. The elf wasn't there, the arrow exploded and vines rapidly grew on the ground. The assassin had activated an ability of his own as the archer had activated his ability. He had teleported right behind the ranged avatar and sunk his daggers into him. Both daggers went into the ranged avatar's kidneys. The human gasped in pain and tried to whirl around but couldn't as his body went into shock. The elf ripped the daggers out and let the human fall to the ground. He watched as the human desperately tried to get their breath but decided to end it. He dropped down to a knee next to the human, rolled him over onto his back, and slid one of his daggers into the throat of the avatar. The human avatar's body spasmed as the life went out of his eyes. The assassin stood up and looked around the arena. He spotted Bob on the other side and started walking towards him.
Bob had watched the whole fight play out. He had sat down for a good portion of it while summoning four flasks for his bandolier. He summoned one of each type, fire smoke, light, and ice. He saw how nimble this assassin was, and wanted to be as prepared as possible. Both of them had sustained injuries, although he knew his were probably worse. Bob got to his feet as the fight between the ranged avatar and assassin finished. He watched as the assassin stood up from his opponent's body and locked eyes on him. He started walking towards the assassin, trying not to give it away that his leg was injured. He felt he wasn't doing that great of a job hiding it though. The arena was shaking from the excitement and cheering of the crowd. The noise hadn't quieted down since the start of the fight, but now that there were only two fighters left, it felt more intense than ever.
Life and Death blinked into the air at the center of the arena. They had their arms raised in the air and magic could be seen whipping through their fingers.
Life spoke. "Ladies and gentlemen, what a fight this has been so far!"
"We are now going to make this more entertaining," Death said.
The bodies of the fallen avatars vanished. Bob and the assassin had stopped to look up at the gods in confusion. Their confusion went to shock and surprise as they were both forcefully moved towards each other. Their bodies lifted slightly off the ground and flew towards each other like they were magnets. Once they were ten feet from each other they abruptly stopped moving and landed back on the ground. Neither of them knew what was happening, Bob tried to summon a flask, but his ability was being blocked. The assassin had also tried to use an ability but was unable to. A new circular wall sprang from the ground around Bob and the assassin. It was only twenty feet in diameter leaving very little room for the avatars to move.
"Fighters make this fight between yourselves more entertaining than what you have shown so far," Life said.
"Do not disappoint us," Death said with a horrifying smile on his face.
Life and Death blinked back out of the air as a loud voice boomed.
"FIGHT!"
