Chapter 3: Identity of the black coffin

As Shaon heard the voice echo out in his head, his eyes turned into carriage wheels as he stumbled and nearly fell over. He quickly scanned his surroundings but saw no one. Just as he was about to shout for the person to show himself, the voice rang out again, “Dum dum, enter your Dantian and you will meet me there.”

Shaon quickly looked around and within minutes found a place to hide himself before he entered his Dantain. When he found a little cave near the entrance of the forest, he put the little monkey on his lap as he entered his Dantian. When he entered his Dantian, he was greeted by a strange sight. The coffin was gone but instead of it, a person was now wrapped in chains.

The youth looked to be around 15-16 years old. He had snow white hair and sapphire blue eyes. His body wasn't bulging in muscles but was mildly built. He was wearing a black T-shirt, black trousers and black sneakers. On his arms Shaon could see red tribal tattoos identical to his.

As Shaon looked at the youth with a stunned expression, the youth let out a wry smile as he started, “Hello, my name is Remy. As for all of your questions, I will answer them one by one now.”Hearing this, Shaon snapped out of his trance as he cautiously asked, “Who exactly are you and what are you doing here?”

The youth named Remy sat down on the “ground” and started narrating, “I am you. More specifically, I am the remnants of your previous life's knowledge and memories. You could say I am your persona from your previous life. As to what I am doing here, even I have no clue about that one. I should have died and our soul should have been shattered but somehow a sliver of it remained. That sliver contained all the knowledge and memories of our previous life. I floated through darkness for what seemed like an eternity before being born as you. However, a soul can not have two persona's so to keep our soul from shattering again, I locked myself under these chains and slept in the coffin. I experienced your life through your eyes but I decided that I wouldn't interfere in it. In that world technology thrived, not cultivating. If I had undone these chains, and revealed myself, both our body and soul would have been destroyed.”

At some point in time, Shaon had sat down in front of Remy. He listened intently and what he said actually made sense, sort of. Although he was suspicious about Remy being his past life's persona, he understood the chains and why he never met him before. Shaon asked again, “Why turn up now?”

Remy looked at the little boy sitting in front of him and gave a laugh, “Well, your body can now withstand communicating with me. Being inside that coffin was quite lonely. You could say that I needed to talk with someone. Also even me, a person who has lived for over 100 billion years, wants to annihilate that Fang clan. However, since two persona's can not live in the same body, I have been slowly transferring my power and techniques over to you ever since you started cultivating.”

Shaon looked at him in surprise as he asked, “Transferred your power and techniques but why and is something like that even possible?” Remy just nodded, “Yes, I have been transferring them. Did you really think that you had some Heaven defying talent to reach the second level of Master in 2 years? Even pampered brats from ancient clans don't have speed as fast as yours with their elixirs and “ancestor” mentors.”

He had a bit of contempt in his eyes before he continued, “We are two different persona's born from the same soul, generally these kinds of things shouldn't happen but it did. As for the reason why I am transferring everything over to you not taking everything from you...”

He paused for a second again and gave a wry smile again, “I am tired of all of this. I have been alive for more than 100 billion years, I've seen all kinds of struggles, made all kinds of friends and lost everyone of them. I've fought for every cause you can think of, I just have nothing more left to do. 100 years ago, I sacrificed myself to protect this dimension and my journey should have ended there.”

Shaon could actually understand what he was saying. To live for a 100 billion years, you have experienced everything already and there is nothing new for you anymore. You will live through each day like a machine, same dull life every day. “After you have transferred all of you power and knowledge, what level will I reach?” Shaon asked, trying to change the subject a bit.

Remy looked at him and sighed, “Although all of my knowledge will be yours, only a fraction of my power remained. If we go at this pace, you could reach the first level of the Prince stage. When you do, I will cease to exist but all I know will also be what you will know.” Shaon just thought for a second and for some reason felt a bit sad if Remy disappeared.

He suppressed those feelings and asked, “Even if you give me your power, our cultivation technique differs. I can not use it, no?” Remy looked at him in astonishment before laughing out loud, “Hahahahah. The cultivation technique we train in is the same one. Also, I am the person who developed “Bloody Angel”. That is also the reason why the cultivation technique feels so familiar to you. The soul remembers it making it easier to get past bottlenecks, as it has already gone through them once.”

Hearing this, Shaon felt dumb. He should have realized this the moment Remy said that he had been transferring power to him ever since he started cultivating. Remy just chuckled when he saw the embarrassed Shaon and continued, “With my power being transferred to you if you followed my training regime, you could probably reach the Prince level in 6-9 months.”

When Shaon heard that, he was completely dumbstruck as he mumbled to himself, “The first level of Prince in 6-9 months, is that even possible?” Although Shaon muttered it to himself, Remy heard that and just laughed, “It is possible but you have to follow my training regime to the letter and trust me, even Hell is going to feel like paradise to you when you start my training regime. So, do you want to or not? If you kept going with this pace you could reach the first level of Prince stage in about 3-4 years.”

Shaon thought to himself for a moment, “This truly was a tempting offer but, what's the catch?” He looked Remy straight in the eye and asked, “This is too good to be true, what is the catch in all of this? Good luck like that doesn't just fall down from Heaven.”

Remy looked at him with a bit of respect in his eyes and answered, “The catch is that it is going to be like Hell. You are going to have to train like a dog and will constantly put into life endangering situations. Also, this is going to hurt a frigging lot.”

When he saw the seriousness in Remy's eyes, he couldn't help but gulp as he thought to himself, “So that was what he meant that is training regime is going to make Hell seem like a paradise. This is going to be risky.”

He pondered about it as this was a decision that would literally change his life. Remy, seeing that Shaon was seriously thinking it over, just smiled. He would have been disappointed if he had accepted it just like that. When he looked at Shaon, he just sighed mentally, “Seems like the me who will succeed me, is at least not some crazy hothead who punches first and asks questions later."

As Remy was smiling he finally asked, “Now then, what is you choice? Ohh, and let me remind you, once we start the training regime, there is no going back, only pressing forward.” When Shaon heard that, he had reached his decision. He didn't like quitting half way so when he heard Remy's last sentence, he made his decision, “I want to use the training regime. t seems to be more beneficial in more points than continuing it by myself.”

As he said that, he thought to himself, “And to let you rest sooner.” Remy just nodded hearing that and pointed his finger between Shaon's eyebrows as he said, “This marks the beginning of our training regime. Your first task is to learn to use this.”

As a bright light shone from Remy's fingertip, information started heading inside Shaon's head.
