A strong scent of a wolf suddenly penetrated her nose. This smell seemed strange compared to the other wolf smell Allen encountered before.
There was an aromatic, fresh cool mint mixed with a sharp camphorous scent that contained some hints of a forest, sweet and similar to honey.
Staying in the same position, fully alert, Allen noticed a pair of black shoes stepping out from the backseat of the car, slowly walking towards her.
Slowly, she raised her head to look at the owner of those shoes, her eyes met a deep black pair of eyes staring at her intently.
Badump…
Her heart skipped a beat. It was such an unfamiliar feeling for her as they kept on staring at each other. What's strange is, Allen didn't feel any malicious intentions from the man.
Wrinkling her brows, it was then that Allen remembered that she was chasing someone. With the thought that she had probably already lost him, she gave up. Maybe she'll meet him again some other time.
"Are you okay?" A deep, cold and penetrating voice slowly rang in her ears. Somehow it sounded like a whisper and there's a hint of gentleness, doubt and worry?
Allen had no clue. Even though her hearing was incredibly clear, she thought she must have misheard it. But this pulled her attention back to that man though their eyes were still gazing at each other.
Without saying a word, she quickly stood up and turned around at an unimaginable speed. Leaving as fast as she can, running away without looking back, disappearing from their sight.

Left alone without receiving any response, the man remained standing at the same spot as he watched Allen fading from his sight.
"Mr. Maxwell, is that a vampire cub?" Another man's voice sounded with doubt, asking as came down from the other side of the car.
He couldn't determine the smell of that Vampire if he had reached adulthood, the young boy's looks seemed only about sixteen years old.
Although vampires looked younger than their actual age as they retain their young looks no matter how old they were, it could be determined through the smell of their vampire blood whether they had reached adulthood or were still a cub.
A 'Cub' is what they call their children for those children born from both parents with the same kind of blood, this applies to both werewolves and vampires.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
While hybrids from the union of humans and vampires were called the same. Then, 'Newborn' was the term they used for those who were transformed by vampires.
There was also another hybrid that was not accepted by both pack and clans, a child born between werewolves and vampires, they call them 'The Forbidden Ones'.
It's very rare to see one, but when they do, they are more likely to be haunted and killed.
Pulled back from his unknown thoughts, the man who was called Mr. Maxwell, Zachary Maxwell, remained at the same place.
He didn't turn his head to look at the other person. His secretary, Harry Jones, came to stand next to him. He answered, "No, he is a hybrid," then paused.
Harry Jones stiffened. "A Hybrid?? Why can't I smell another blood on him? He clearly is a vampire but.. I'm not sure if he's still a cub..." Feeling astonished, "No.. How could he possibly be a Newborn, I smell nothing else.." It's the first time he had encountered such a strange hybrid.
Vampires have the most beautiful features, especially the color of their eyes, which makes them easy to recognize.
They can be determined by their scent, a heavy scent of blood. Cubs smell light, while hybrids smell with a mixed bloody but earthy scent.
That young boy had a scent of blood, it was neither light nor heavy, but the most impressive countenance he had ever seen.
Added by such beautiful irises that were hard not to notice despite the lack of light. He was amazed. Harry Jones hadn't seen any vampires who had translucent emerald eyes.
"Vampire and werewolf…" Zachary Maxwell coldly added to his response.
He knitted his brows, thinking deeply as he kept on staring at the same place where Allen disappeared. "Very light scent of a werewolf.. But not marked.."
"Impossible! Was he a hybrid of human and a wolf but turned into a vampire?!" Harry Jones exclaimed, then paused. "He didn't have any human scent either, but didn't seem like a hybrid becoming a Newborn?"
Harry Jones couldn't figure it out, as he wondered. A Wolf's smell was sharp, yet he couldn't determine Allen's scent at all.
"Was he banished by his pack before so he ran towards vampires to turn him into one of them? But didn't they hate hybrids with wolf's blood?" Harry Jones can't help thinking of different scenarios in his mind.
"If he really is a forbidden one, he is lucky to remain alive since other than vampire blood, it seems only you can smell his other scent.." But thinking that it was unusual that he didn't smell other blood, Harry can't help exclaiming again. "What the f*ck! What have vampires been doing?!"
Zachary Maxwell didn't respond, just listening to Harry's nonsense. But his eyes showed a bit of complicated emotions as soon as he heard his secretary's conjecture.
He was also bewildered after hearing that Harry can only smell vampire blood from Allen, but he can too, a scent of blood, neither light nor heavy, but he smells something else.
'Is he really a Forbidden One? But why does his wolf smell so light like it almost didn't exist? Although it smelled light, it was a pure wolf scent. Was he really banished and ran to the vampires to become a newborn?' Zachary wondered.
Contrary to what Harry smells, Zachary Maxwell could smell a very light scent of a wolf from her, almost being overwhelmed by a clean, sharp and citrus fragrance that smells sweet like vanilla mixed with a soft, floral powdery scent of lavender.
He was wondering. 'Who is that young boy? Why does his wolf scent seem familiar? It smells light but I can't remember..'
Zachary knew that being marked by a werewolf will leave their scent mixed with each other.
This is the only time that other werewolves or vampires would smell their mated scent. A sign to other werewolves that they already have an owner, but Allen didn't smell that way.
'Only mates could smell each other's scent. Although it was also very light, I could smell it.. But he didn't transform into his wolf, it seemed he hadn't awakened yet.' There are countless ideas that keep appearing in Zachary's mind.
He was well informed that werewolves can only transform into their wolf forms after their Awakening at age of sixteen, they will start to experience the so-called 'Heat' at age of eighteen that will allow them to feel or smell the presence of their Destined Mate.
'A destined mate.. Did he know? If he does, was he frightened because of that? If he didn't know… He is just a young boy, a Forbidden One at that.' His gaze turned sharp as his eyes turned darker like an abyss that can't be seen through them.
