Chapter 1145 Charles Under Investigation

Chapter 1145 Charles Under Investigation

On the day of the prison visit, Scott relayed a message, "It's summer. She didn't bring anything."

During the two-hour visitation period, they chatted about everyday matters, discussing the changes that had occurred over the past two years, as well as Arnold's still unknown whereabouts. Edward had aged significantly and remained silent upon hearing this news.

Summer had Edward sign a document for her that would at least secure her standing in the Olsen family.

As she was leaving, she said, "Please take good care of yourself. I owe today's opportunity to meet you entirely to my sister. If you have time, please pray for her often."

Edward was a religious man.

Upon hearing this, Edward asked, "Which sister are you referring to?"

"Josie. She's my sister."

After that, Scott had conveyed the general idea, leaving Josie somewhat perplexed. "Since Summer has met Edward, Arnold will start to believe me. But why did she deliberately leak my information?" In prison, Edward was unable to do anything.

Dexter seemed lost in thought. He then asked Scott, "Has Charles returned to Wavery?"

"The plane that departed two hours ago should have arrived by now."

Dexter glanced at the time. "When did Summer leave?"

"It's probably been about two hours. Gathering information takes time," Scott explained.

"Where did Summer go after she left?"

"Of course, she returned to Arnold. We couldn't find out who she had been in contact with. They were on high alert inside."

Dexter understood clearly, and he furrowed his brows slightly. "Still too late."

Josie didn't understand. "What does that mean?"

There was no need for Dexter to explain. In less than half an hour, the news had already spread throughout Rivodia.

No sooner had Charles returned to his office than representatives from the prosecution division arrived, initiating a related investigation against him.

In his position, a single move could set off a chain reaction.

The private calls to Dexter's phone never ceased.

Immediately, Josie slumped onto the couch. "Why has this happened? On the surface, everything was clearly legal and compliant. It shouldn't have been made into an issue."Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Dexter did not answer the phone. He had set it to silent mode. "It's not about this matter. Those who managed to sit in this position most often did so by pulling off vicious moves. If anyone with a discerning eye were to investigate, they would likely uncover numerous issues."

"But as for Charles..."

"When Summer saw Edward and mentioned your name, he naturally turned his thoughts toward you. He would then think of me and the Russell family." Dexter's gaze was focused. "Edward, who no one has been able to visit in prison for two years, suddenly has this privilege. Naturally, they can guess who your backer is."

Josie could understand what was going on. "I am the bait. So Arnold didn't really want to meet Edward, but was aiming for Charles?"

Dexter's expression was intriguing, "Things are changing in Wavery. If he could replace Charles with an accomplice of his, no one would be able to keep him in check anymore."

"You had guessed it all along? Then why did you let me go? You made me harm Mr. Zimmerman." Upon hearing this, Josie finally understood. She abruptly stood up. No wonder Dexter didn't show up that day. He knew everything. He let me play the villain.

"Do you want to save him?" Dexter looked up, his eyes indifferent.

"What?"

It was ten o'clock at night.

It was at the height of the bustling nightlife when Josie received the news that Arnold was spending the night there.

"Miss, who are you looking for?" the attendant asked with utmost respect.

"Arn..." Josie paused. "I'm looking for Robyn."

"Mr. Mills? Please wait a moment."

A moment later, the attendant led her into a private room. It was filled with men, but there was one woman who was particularly eye-catching.
