I wake up in a white empty room with nothing inside except a black screen. I look around and realize the black screen is now starting to form words. I can't read the words but I see an arrow pointing to the right in which I look to the right and I go black. The next thing I know is that I wake up in the hospital and I see people talking around me. My memories flood in, My parents died defending the Sky Fortress, the last city of mankind 10 years ago as it was lifting off.

Yesterday the city got attacked by Marscofs, flying red hawk like creatures, they attack the city a few times every month but they are relatively low ranked creatures so not much damage is done. I was walking around the edge of the city and one Marscof grabbed my arm. It tried to fly away but after a couple seconds the automatic turrets shot the hawk which made drop me and I started to fall to the ground.

The doctor fills me in on what happened. A soldier flew down and saved me but I broke my back due to me falling a couple feet into his metal arms. The damage would not be long lasting.

The doctor winked at me and said "I checked your records and your back should be healed by the time of your first absorption"

The city has never been split between the poor and the rich but the strong and the weak. Nobody needs to really pay for anything but you need to have the ability to obtain things. The city gives you privilege's based on your strength but even the weak has enough to live a decent life. This is due to the fact that the city is large but we have a population shortage due to the frequent missions to the ground and defense for the city. We really need all the manpower we can get to fight these monsters. Time passes as I get discharged from the hospital.

I enter the classroom and my friend Randan groans "lucky you, you get to skip the most boring days and come right when the exciting things comes"

"come on, at least you don't have to break your back as life flashes before your eyes" I say

Oben, the teachers pet yells "the teacher is coming and I would shut up if I were you people or you might miss the absorption" and looks at the chatty group of girls in the back and the rowdy boys yelling about what they are gonna get.

"There is no way anyone could miss the first absorption even if they jumped off the city" yells Cyphen, one of the boys and looks at me

The teacher walks in right as Oben was about to say something and calls us up one by one. I just roll my eyes and walk up to grab my badge. We are brought to the city hall where we see about 1,000+ other kids, Some are screaming and some are in the corner afraid for their lives as this is a moment where lives could change but that is if you obtain a high score on your absorption level. I get a tap behind my back and I see the teacher Mr. Colens. He just briefly told me what to do since I missed the last 3 days of school. He left after he told me as no adults except for the ones supervising the first absorption could enter. I wandered around a little checking the hall before I bumped into Soren, a childhood friend who somehow knows all rumors and always makes a successful rumor.

"Hey did you know that the mayor would be supervising the first absorption this time" whispers Soren

"oh my god its not like the mayor does it ever other year" I said sarcastically

"come on stop being boring all the time" groans Soren, "at least pretend to be excited"

"omg I out year got so lucky and the mayor is supervising us" I mumble

all of a sudden I hear a a speaker "Good morning children of the Sky Fortress, You are humanities hope at building a space for us back on the land. We humans are not sky dwellers but ground walkers...."

"blah blah blah" a random kid says

I know this speech is boring for you all so I will make this quick let the absorption begin" The Mayor announces

we drink a bottle that is supposed to allow Skalzin to be access more easily and the Mayor pumps this room with dense Skalzin. I feel a wave of invisible particles gush into my body. Have you ever had this really hot day and when you got home, You would just jump into your high tech sleeping pod and activate the cooling feature. {note: oh wait its a shame you never have since this novel is in future let me change this so you can relate to it. oh wait neither have I but here is the modern day example have you ever had this hot day and you enter the house with an already active air conditioner and it feels cold at first but then great. Take that great affect the times it by 10.}

I heard a couple of weird noises but it stopped after a second and everyone sat down and closed their eyes including me. After an hour or so we heard the speaker again

"everyone please leave except for......." said the Mayor

We all knew that those people were the people who had failed to absorb anything and were probably being sent to a special school that taught children that could not absorb Skalzin. I heard that the school was getting smaller and smaller as now only 10 kids every year failed to absorb anything while the year before there was 11 and the first year there was about 20.

Since there was the festival we had the rest of the day off but right when I was about to leave I bumped into Randan, Soren and Gosen.

Gosen asked "want to hang out with me"

"were are we actually going" I sighed as whenever Gosen decides where we were going it was always a little off from what he actually said.

"the meditation manual building, my parents are bring me and said I could bring my friends along" said Gosen

"really! I thought we had to wait until next month" Randan yelled

"well since you know, my parents are pretty high up in the government they could bend the rules just a little" said Gosen

"lets go then" Randan exclaimed

We headed to the to the meditation manual building but we got sidetracked in another store and we headed it but Gosen's parents said we could spend a maximum of 30 minutes in there. we headed into the arena were we watched some crazy fights. After about 15 minutes we saw the Fire Fist and Golden Card walk in. All of a sudden we saw a couple people starting to bet since those two have been long time rivals, friendly ones. We were seated all the way up and could not hear them talking but it looked like they were about to start. The Fire Fist was a Skalzin soldier, he used Skalzin to summon and control very hot fire but had a really close quarter combat style. Golden Card was a Skalzin strategist. Most strategist summon creatures they made or captured but Golden Card summoned elemental attacks. He is like using spell cards out of card games instead of creature cards. {note: not all strategist class battlers use cards}

Fire Fist threw a fire ball out of his hands but Golden Card used his water wall and mist formed, a lot of mist. Fire Fist planned this and charged into the smoke while Golden Card quickly summoned a tornado to clear the smoke. Fire Fist used his fire to boost him out of the tornado's way but Golden Card pulled out a card and tossed it to the ground beneath Fire Fist, Fire Fist turned his entire body into fire not noticing the card as the card exploded. The explosion launched him into the air and right into me like a meteor while still on fire. The next thing I know is that I blacked out.
