Reincarnation

A boy around the age of 15 opened the door of his house. As he stepped out of his house, a gust of wind hit him in the face, waking him up from lingering sleepiness. He put on the straps of his bag on his shoulder and started walking down the street.

He looked into the mostly clear sky, the sun was up high. The warm summer rays hit his face, filtering through the green leaves of the trees on the side of the footpath.

'I can't believe mum would force me to go on the last day of school. Literally, who goes on the last day. I'm gonna be the only one there.'

"Man, today's going to be a such a boring day."

He pulls out his phone to read some manga while he walks to school. He was quite a fan of anime, you could even say addicted. He would watch anime or read manga whenever he could find time, even while walking. His favourite anime was called Bleach.

As he was walking across a road, he took his eyes off the phone for a second, checking his surroundings before going back to watching. Just then, a truck that was on the road lost control and came straight at him.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

His head jerked up as he heard the sound of metal grinding coming closer to him. His phone went flying as he tried to escape, but it was too late. He could feel himself being run over by the truck, his bones shattering under the weight, blood gushing out of his body. His body went flying across the road and hit a street light and fell to the floor.

'Shit shit shit shit. What the hell just happened!'

He struggled to open his eyes as he lay on the floor, blood oozing out of his body.

'So... this is how I die...? What a stupid way to die. Shit.'

Slowly, his vision blurred out until everything went black. Sometime passed, and his eyes fluttered open. He was in an unfamiliar setting, lying on a bed.

'Where the hell am I?'

He sat up on the bed, rubbing his eyes. He looked around, inspecting the room he was in. The room looked like a bedroom. The walls were light blue and beside the bed was a wooden desk with stacks of books and papers, which even littered the floor. The chair in front of the desk was also blue but darker. He looked out the window and the sun was shining, making beams of light filter through the light green window drapes to illuminate the room.

He got up from the bed and went to the door, opening it and went outside the room. He was in a hallway with doors on the walls. It looked like someone's house, but he didn't recognise it, but it felt familiar somehow.

'Didn't I die? I felt the impact. I felt my bones break. That shit was real. Then how am I still here? Is this some kind of afterlife? Did I get reborn? Shit, if I did, then what the hell was that? So unrealistic. This isn't a novel.'
