The sun bathed Jubilife City in a gentle morning light as Lucas and Torchic set out to explore the unfamiliar urban landscape. The city was alive with activity, trainers hustling from one destination to the next, Pokémon of all shapes and sizes accompanying their partners, and the hum of the city providing a vibrant backdrop to their adventure.
Waking up in the Pokémon Center, the duo felt a palpable sense of excitement; today, they would explore Jubilife in earnest, acquainting themselves with the heartbeat of this bustling metropolis.
After a quick breakfast, Lucas shouldered his backpack, Torchic eagerly hopping onto his shoulder, its eyes wide with curiosity. They stepped out into the city, the morning hustle of Jubilife enveloping them—the streets teeming with trainers, Pokémon, and regular civilians that went about their day with a practiced professionalism.
Their first stop was Jubilife TV, a towering structure that dominated the cityscape. The building was a hub of creativity and broadcast, sending Pokémon-related shows across the region. Lucas and Torchic were fascinated by the live broadcasts, watching from the viewing area as shows were produced, the energy and excitement of the studio palpable.
Next, they meandered through Jubilife's sprawling Trainer's School, where new trainers learned the basics of Pokémon battles and strategy. Lucas engaged in conversations with several instructors, picking up tips and insights that he filed away for future battles. Torchic, meanwhile, found itself the center of attention among the younger students, its fiery plumage a hit with the aspiring trainers.
As the morning gave way to afternoon, Lucas and Torchic found themselves in Jubilife's central park, a green oasis amidst the urban expanse. Here, Pokémon roamed freely, playing and resting in the shade. Lucas took this opportunity to let Torchic play with other Pokémon, observing their interactions and noting the diversity of species and personalities present.
Lunch was a street-side affair, with Lucas and Torchic enjoying local delicacies from one of Jubilife's many food vendors. As they ate, they watched the ebb and flow of city life, the diversity of its inhabitants, both human and Pokémon, a testament to the rich tapestry of the Pokémon world.
The afternoon saw them browsing the many shops and stalls that dotted the city, Lucas picking up a few supplies and Torchic playfully chasing Pidgey that fluttered around the market. Each turn revealed new sights and sounds, from the clanging of hammers in a blacksmith's shop specializing in Poké Balls to the melodious tunes of a street performer and their Kricketune.
As dusk began to settle over Jubilife, Lucas and Torchic made their way back to the Pokémon Center, their hearts and minds full of the day's experiences. The city had offered them a glimpse into the vast world that awaited them. Whilst settling in for the night, Lucas reflected on their exploration of Jubilife, with Torchic and Lucas drifting off to sleep after their day of rest, and confirmed his next course of action for the coming days.
With the new morning sun casting a warm glow over Jubilife City, and the confirmation that another 3000 Pokédollars had been deposited into his account, Lucas set out towards the Poké Mart, a list of supplies in mind for their upcoming training. The city was already bustling with activity, trainers and Pokémon moving about with purpose and excitement. Lucas navigated the streets with ease, the façade of a Poké Mart coming into view, its welcoming doors inviting him in.
The interior of the Poké Mart was a haven for trainers, shelves stocked with an array of items essential for any Pokémon journey. Lucas moved through the aisles with purpose, picking up basic necessities first—Potions, Antidotes, Supplements and a variety of Berries to keep Torchic in peak condition. He then made his way to a section dedicated to training equipment, keen on finding tools that would aid in honing their type energy control.
This section of the Poké Mart was like a treasure trove for those looking to enhance their Pokémon's abilities beyond the standard regimen of battles and exercises. It was here that Lucas found the Type Energy Training Harnesses, a cutting-edge series of devices designed to refine and amplify a Pokémon's control over their innate type energies.
The harnesses were sleek, made of lightweight materials that promised not to hinder a Pokémon's movement. Each was tailored to a specific type, capable of adjusting the flow of type energy during training to increase efficiency and precision. For Torchic, Lucas selected a Fire-Type Energy Harness, its design optimized to channel and focus fire energy, allowing for more controlled and powerful fire-based attacks.
After browsing through the selection some more, Lucas also chose a set of specialized targets designed for precision training. These targets could be adjusted to simulate various types of Pokémon, allowing Torchic to practice landing his moves with accuracy. Lucas also picked up a Flame Control Ring, a hoop that Torchic could aim to pass its Ember attacks through, gradually increasing the control over the size and intensity of the flames. These tools, combined with the other supplies, would provide a comprehensive training setup to enhance their type energy control and overall battle readiness.
As he approached the counter to pay for his purchases, Lucas felt this would be a testament to his commitment to helping Torchic reach his full potential.
He approached the cashier, a young woman with a friendly smile who seemed genuinely interested in his choices. "These are great picks," she commented as she scanned the items. "We've had excellent feedback from trainers who've used them. They really do make a difference in controlling and enhancing type energies."
Lucas nodded, grateful for the affirmation. "That's the plan," he replied, paying for his purchases. "Every little bit helps." He said with a smirk at the slogan he had referenced. He reflexively grimaced as he watched the money he'd earned basically just disappear in one purchase but pushed through the pain with determination.
With the supplies securely packed and ready, Lucas thanked the Poké Mart staff and stepped back out into the streets of Jubilife, his mind already planning the next training session. The city, with all its noise and movement, seemed to echo his determination and optimism as he made his way back to the Pokémon Center.
After making it back to the room, picking up Torchic, new training materials in tow, Lucas and Torchic moved towards their new training areas that they would be frequent for the next few weeks. Their goal was twofold: master control over Torchic’s Fire Type energy and seek out a male Ralts that wished to become a Gallade, a Pokémon Lucas felt would complement their team perfectly.
As Lucas and Torchic ventured beyond the bustling streets of Jubilife City, the landscape transformed before their eyes, marking the transition to the natural pathways of Routes 203 and 204. Unlike the meticulously paved roads of the city, these routes were shaped by the footsteps of countless trainers and Pokémon, a clear symbol of the adventurous spirit that thrived in the region. The paths meandered through fields of tall grass, skirted around dense patches of forest, and crossed over gently babbling streams, each turn offering a new vista and a new challenge.
Route 203 lay to the east of Jubilife, a sunlit path that stretched towards Oreburgh City, its horizon dominated by the constant that was Mount Coronet. The route was alive with the sounds of nature and the excited chatter of trainers embarking on their journeys. Here, the air was filled with the fluttering of Starly wings, the mischievous chatters of Shinx hiding in the bushes, and the occasional cry of a Kricketune emerging at dusk. The Pokémon that called this route home varied in type and temperament, from the docile Bidoof ambling near the water's edge to the more elusive Abra, which vanished at the slightest hint of danger.
Route 204, in contrast, veered north from Jubilife, winding its way through a lush landscape that was both serene and wild. This route was a Verdant haven, with thickets of trees providing shelter to a different array of Pokémon. Budew could be seen peeking curiously from under the leaves, while the soft hum of Zubat echoed from the cave entrance that marked the route's northern boundary. The path itself, bordered by wildflowers and the occasional Berry bush, invited travelers to explore its secrets, each step a chance to encounter the wonders of Sinnoh's natural world.
The routes, with their natural beauty and challenges, became not just a backdrop for their quest but an integral part of their journey. They offered Lucas and Torchic not only the opportunity to search for their new teammate, Ralts, but also the chance to grow stronger, more connected, and more in tune with the world around them.
Each morning, Lucas and Torchic would wake up refreshed and ready to face the day. After a nutritious breakfast at the Pokémon Center, which had quickly become their home base, they set out to engage in trainer battles scattered throughout the city and its outskirts. These encounters were more than just practice; they were opportunities to test their strategies, refine Torchic's moves, and increase their bank balance after spending so much on training equipment at the Poké Mart.
Post-battle, they returned to the Pokémon Center for a quick healing session, ensuring Torchic was in peak condition. A quick snack followed, providing them with the energy needed for the next phase of their day—searching for the elusive Ralts on routes 203 and 204. During their search, they utilized the training equipment purchased from the Poké Mart, focusing on mastering type energy control and enhancing Torchic's agility and strength.
Lunch was often a quick, portable meal enjoyed on the route, giving them more time to search and train. The afternoons were an extension of their morning efforts, combining the hunt for Ralts with rigorous training sessions. Lucas made a mental note to visit the training center in Jubilife City, intrigued by the advanced facilities it offered for both Pokémon and trainers. He also planned to strengthen his own physique at a local weight gym, recognizing the importance of his physical condition in supporting Torchic and their future teammates.

By evening, they would return to the Pokémon Center, tired yet fulfilled. Dinner was a more relaxed affair, a time to reflect on the day's progress and challenges. Then Lucas would call home using the private call rooms to tell his parents about their progress and how they were doing and what they'd learned. His parents would tell him how proud they were and let him know how Growlithe and they were doing and regularly let him know how much they missed and loved him. After each call Lucas would always be emotional about the love he was receiving and how it was everything he'd hoped it would be.
The nights were reserved for research and planning. Lucas delved into online forums dedicated to Pokémon training, absorbing strategies, tips, and insights from fellow trainers. Together, they watched recordings of various gym battles, analyzing each trainer's tactics and envisioning how they might adapt similar strategies to their own style.
This routine became their rhythm of life in Jubilife City, a cycle of training, battling, and preparation that drew them closer to their goals with each passing day.
On the weekends the search for Ralts was replaced with time spent in Jubilife City's state of the art Gym. Lucas was only able to afford one day passes with his limited funds and left recovery and relaxation with Torchic to Sunday's.
Lucas entered the Jubilife City gym with a clear plan in mind, understanding that his physical condition would be just as crucial to his journey as his Pokémon's strength and abilities. The gym, with its state-of-the-art equipment and serene atmosphere, provided the perfect setting for his rigorous workout routine.
Lucas began his session with an intense cardio workout. He chose a high-endurance program on one of the gym's advanced treadmills, adjusting the settings to simulate varying terrains. As he ran, Lucas visualized the vast landscapes of Sinnoh he and his Pokémon would traverse, each step on the machine mirroring the steps they would take on their journey. The steady beat of his heart and the rhythm of his feet against the treadmill echoed through the quiet gym, a meditative cadence that focused his resolve and honed his determination.
After completing his cardio, Lucas shifted his focus to strength training, specifically targeting his lower body to build endurance and power. He approached the squat rack, carefully loading it with a weight that was challenging yet manageable. He performed his squats with impeccable form, keeping his back straight and pushing through his heels, fully engaging his quads, hamstrings, and glutes. The mirror in front of him reflected his concentrated expression, a visual testament to his commitment.
Moving on to leg extensions, Lucas selected a weight that pushed his limits while ensuring he could maintain perfect form. The isolated movement targeted his quadriceps, a crucial muscle group for the explosive power needed for quick movements—either in battle or in navigating the challenges of the wild.
Hamstring curls followed, with Lucas lying face down on the machine, curling the weight up with controlled precision. This exercise balanced the strength in his legs, ensuring that his quadriceps' power was matched by his hamstrings', reducing the risk of injury.
Finally, Lucas concluded his lower body workout with calf raises. He found a raised platform within the gym, standing on the edge as he lifted and lowered his body weight on the balls of his feet. This exercise was essential for building the strength and stamina needed for long treks and sudden movements during battles.
As Lucas finished his workout, he took the time to properly cool down, stretching each muscle group to aid in recovery and flexibility.
This routine was followed with absolutely no luck in finding a male Ralts, they'd had a few encounters with a pair Ralts they'd met on route 203 but after a scan of the Pokedex Lucas found out they were Female. They did allow Torchic and Lucas to battle them every once in a while but expressed absolutely no desire to join the team. After beating both of them they promised to put a good word in to a Male Ralts they new.
And finally after just over one and a half weeks of training and searching for a male Ralts Route 204, Lucas and Torchic's persistence was finally rewarded. Amidst the rustling leaves and the gentle hum of the forest, a male Ralts emerged, its gaze meeting Lucas’s with an intense curiosity and an unspoken challenge. It was the moment Lucas had been waiting for, a chance to prove himself and invite the Ralts to join their journey.
Understanding the significance of this encounter, Lucas nodded to Torchic, signaling the start of the battle. Torchic, its body honed from days of rigorous training, stood ready, the fire within it burning bright and controlled.
The battle commenced with Ralts using Teleport, vanishing and reappearing in rapid succession, attempting to disorient Torchic. Each teleportation was executed with precision, but Lucas could see the strain it put on Ralts, the psychic energy required for such maneuvers visibly taxing.
Ralts then shifted tactics, combining Growl with Confusion. The Growl reverberated through the air, aiming to weaken Torchic's resolve, while waves of psychic energy from Confusion sought to directly assault Torchic’s mind. Lucas watched, tense, as Torchic faltered slightly under the psychic onslaught, its determination wavering under the combined effects.
But the bond between Lucas and Torchic, forged in countless battles and training sessions, proved stronger than the psychic assault. Recalling their focus on fire type energy control, Lucas called out, "Torchic, now! Use the combo we've been working on!"
Torchic, shaking off the effects of Growl, focused its energy. The training with the Flame Control Ring and the Fire Type Harness came into play as Torchic unleashed a precisely controlled Ember, a stream of flames targeted with unerring accuracy towards Ralts. Ralts, already drained from its use of Teleport, couldn't evade in time.
As the flames approached, Torchic followed up with its Quick Attack and Peck combo. Propelled forward by its enhanced speed, Torchic’s Peck was timed perfectly with the Ember, creating a seamless blend of fire and physical attack that Ralts, despite its best efforts, couldn’t fully evade.
The battle reached its climax as Ralts, overwhelmed by the combination of speed and fire, finally succumbed to the onslaught. With Ralts weakened but not defeated in spirit, Lucas seized the moment, throwing a Poké Ball with a practiced motion. The ball struck true, encapsulating Ralts in a beam of light before falling to the forest floor.
Lucas and Torchic watched with bated breath as the Poké Ball shook once… twice… three times… before the click of capture echoed through the clearing. Lucas’s heart soared with elation. He had done it; he had caught the male Ralts he had been searching for.
Exhausted but victorious, Lucas approached the Poké Ball, picking it up with a reverence born of the hard-fought battle. “We did it, Torchic,” he whispered, his voice filled with pride and gratitude. Torchic chirped in agreement, equally proud of their accomplishment.
As Lucas stood on the tranquil path of Route 204, he took a deep breath, the weight of the moment settling upon his shoulders. The battle had been intense, a true test of skill and determination for both parties involved.
"Hey there, Ralts," Lucas began, his voice gentle and inviting. "You were incredible out there. Your strength and your spirit... they're exactly what I've been looking for in a partner."
Ralts, still within its Poké Ball, seemed to listen, the gentle glow of psychic energy pulsating softly in response.
Lucas continued, "I have a big journey ahead of me, and I’d be honored if you would join me and Torchic. Together, I believe we can achieve something great." He paused, gauging Ralts's reaction, the Poké Ball vibrating slightly in his hand—a sign, he hoped, of Ralts's interest.
"There's something else," Lucas added, his voice carrying a mix of hope and earnestness. "I see in you the potential to become a Gallade. It’s a path that requires a Dawn Stone, yes, but more importantly, it needs courage, strength, and a bond between us. If you’re willing, I’d like to help you achieve that evolution. What do you say? Do you want to become a Gallade and join me on this adventure?"
The Poké Ball trembled more noticeably now, a burst of psychic energy flaring out in a radiant display of light and color. It was a clear sign of Ralts’s acceptance and enthusiasm for the path Lucas had laid out before them.
Lucas couldn't help but smile, a wave of relief and excitement washing over him. "I'll take that as a yes," he said, laughter threading through his words.
As the energy subsided, Lucas felt a profound sense of commitment settle within him. This was more than just catching a Pokémon; it was a promise to Ralts, to support and guide it toward its full potential. "We’re going to do great things together," he assured, tucking the Poké Ball into his pocket. "Welcome to the team."
Taking out his Pokedex he gave Ralts' Poké Ball a scan to get a more comprehensive understanding over him before heading back to get both his Pokémon healed up.
"Ralts, the Feeling Pokémon. Ralts has the ability to sense the emotions of people and Pokémon with the horns on its head, taking cover if it senses any hostility. This Pokémon is known to bring a sense of joy and calm to those around it, due to its empathetic nature. It rarely appears before people but shows curiosity towards those with positive emotions."
Species: Ralts

Growl: A non-damaging move that lowers the attack stat of the opponent.
Confusion: A Psychic-type move that deals damage and has a chance to confuse the opponent.
Teleport: An ability that allows Ralts to escape from battle or move quickly over short distances.
As Lucas read through the detailed entry, he was struck by the depth of Ralts's abilities and the potential for growth that lay within this small Pokémon. The abilities Synchronize and Trace, in particular, offered fascinating strategic possibilities for battles, reflecting Ralts's unique empathetic and adaptive qualities.
Lucas paused, his brow furrowing slightly. The Pokédex listed Ralts as purely Psychic-type, with no mention of the Fairy-type he was familiar with. In his world, Ralts was known to possess dual Psychic/Fairy typing, a detail that seemed to be missing or, perhaps, not yet recognized in this version of the Pokémon universe.
A realization dawned on Lucas, sparking a mixture of surprise and strategic contemplation. The absence of Fairy-type classification in the Pokédex could mean that the concept of Fairy types hadn't been widely acknowledged or discovered yet in this world. This knowledge presented Lucas with an unexpected advantage. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of Fairy types, even if they weren't officially recognized, could give him a significant edge in battles.
Lucas grinned to himself, a sense of excitement bubbling within him. This discrepancy in the Pokémon type knowledge wasn't a setback; it was an opportunity. It meant he possessed insights that could be leveraged to their advantage, offering strategic options that others might not anticipate. "Looks like we've got a secret weapon," Lucas whispered to Torchic.
Turning back towards the Pokémon Center with Torchic by his side and Ralts's Poké Ball in hand, Lucas felt a renewed sense of purpose. The road ahead would be filled with challenges, but with Ralts now part of their growing team, he was more confident than ever that they were ready to face them head-on. Together, they would forge a path of growth, friendship, and adventure, with the promise of new horizons just waiting to be explored.
