On a serene morning in Twinleaf Town, with the golden hues of sunrise spilling into Lucas's room. He awakens not to the sound of an alarm, but to the enticing aroma of homemade breakfast wafting from downstairs. Next to him, Torchic stirs awake, its eyes brightening at the prospect of the day ahead.
After getting dressed Lucas and Torchic make their way downstairs, the comforting sounds of laughter and chatter drawing them to the kitchen. There, Lucas's parents are sharing a light moment, their joy infectious. As he steps into the room, Lucas can't help but think with a rueful smile, 'It's as wonderful as I'd always imagined.' His dad looks up, spotting Lucas and Torchic at the entrance, and warmly gestures towards a bowl filled with food for both, while his mum, still laughing at the recent jest, moves to pour herself some coffee.
Lucas, seizing the moment for a bit of playful banter, remarks on his dad's duty to pamper his mum, earning him a squint from his dad and a chuckle from his mum. Sitting down to eat, Lucas is struck by a poignant thought, 'Leaving this environment is gonna be tough in 6 days if I wake up to this scene every morning.' The family shares a meal filled with light-hearted conversation, strengthening the bonds that make the thought of departure bittersweet.
After breakfast, Lucas, filled with a sense of purpose and determination, gathers Torchic and Growlithe. The trio, having finished their meals, prepare to step out for a day of training. As they leave, Lucas's parents' voices follow them, a mix of caution and love, "Be careful and be home for dinner tonight." Lucas's response, buoyant and heartfelt, echoes back, "You got it! There's no way I'm missing out on mum's cooking!"
As they leave, to find an area to train, they eventually come across a clearing surrounded by trees and an outcropping of stones at the far side. Lucas claps to get the attention of the two Pokemon that were walking alongside him "Alright this looks perfect for us, we won't be disturbed by anyone else out here!" both Pokemon line up in front of him looking up with expectant eyes.
"We'll come here to train everyday before we leave," at this Growlithe' ears droop with the mention that they'd be leaving, noticing this Lucas continues"But until that time we will spend every morning and afternoon together training!" This caused Growlithe to regain his excitement with a small wuff of assent.
Lucas then set about having the two Pokemon pair up to continue their training from the day before. After that he walked around the clearing and began to create a small obstacle course for them to help try and increase their agility. After completing these tasks he left them to their own devices only coming over to offer them advice when he noticed something, while they did that Lucas started his own training regime to help his lower body and create a solid foundation for his martial arts.
Throughout these days, Lucas and Torchic's growth in strength and coordination are clear to any observer, with Lucas's strategic mind and physical conditioning improving in tandem with Torchic's battle prowess, showcasing a promising start to their journey. Meanwhile, Growlithe's presence adds an element of mentorship and camaraderie, enriching the experience.
In the quiet of the evenings, Lucas's research into the Pokémon world unveils the achievements of legendary trainers, the status of champions across regions, and the evolving dynamics of Pokémon battles. His discoveries about Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax/Gigantamax, and his least favorite Terastallization shed some light onto the world around him and how much his knowledge of these phenomenon will be of huge benefit to his training and journey through the Pokemon world.
In his research he first searched for the trainer he was severely jealous of and had wished he could be when he was younger, Ash Ketchum. So as it turned out Ash is an actual person in this world, he is also seen as a true contender and one of the 'Rookies to watch'. Ash has completed in the; Indigo Conference coming in the top 16 in his very first league which was a huge accomplishment as it was usually rare for a trainer to get more than 5 or 6 badges in their first season. He also competed in Orange League and actually ended up becoming the Champion. His next accomplishment was his success in the Silver Conference where he came in the top 8. Most recently he competed in Ever Grande Conference and came in the top 8 once again. From his research and knowledge of the Anime he was able to confirm that he is going taking on Kanto's Battle Frontier this Season. From this Lucas realized where he was on the Anime timeline, about one season in front, and began to plan his journey around this.
From his knowledge he knew that Ash would come home after beating the frontier, have a battle with Gary and his Electivire and then decide to head off to Sinnoh and compete in the Lily of the Valley Conference. As Lucas mulled this over he continued his research into this world by searching for the Champions of each region.
Hoen Champion - Steven Stone: Steven Stone is renowned for his expertise in Steel-type Pokémon, reflecting his personal interest in stones and rare minerals. He is also well known for being the son of the president of the Devon Corporation.
Sinnoh Champion - Cynthia: Cynthia stands out as one of the most versatile and powerful Pokemon Champions, known for her deep knowledge of Pokemon lore and mythology. Her team composition is diverse, reflecting her comprehensive understanding of Pokémon types and strategies.
Unova Champion - Alder: Alder's role as the Unova Champion is unique due to his backstory of loss and recovery. After the death of his partner Pokemon, Alder wandered Unova to understand the meaning of strength, eventually becoming Champion. Although since becoming Champion he has been criticised constantly which has taken a toll on his image in the public.
Kalos Champion - Diantha: Diantha is a multi-talented figure, balancing her role as the Kalos Champion with a successful career as a movie star. Her grace and compassion are evident both in and out of battle, with her choice of Pokémon reflecting her focus on beauty and strength. She is also one of the first trainers to publicize the Phenomenon that is Mega evolution.
Alola doesn't have a champion yet but there are rumors that the Pokemon League is starting to plan an expansion in the region.
Galar Champion - The recently ordained Leon: Leon is celebrated for his undefeated record in the Galar region, known for his Charizard and his mastery of Dynamaxing. His flamboyant and confident style has made him a beloved public figure in Galar.
Paldea also doesn't have a champion but there aren't rumors that a trainer by the name of Geeta basically fills that role in the region.
Most of these are in line with what he figured but the big difference was what he found out about the Champions or Champion of Kanto-Johto - Lance
Champion Lance, known for his commanding presence and expertise with Dragon-type Pokémon, is a prominent figure in the Pokémon world, particularly within the Johto and Kanto regions. Lance hails from a family of Dragon trainers, which includes his cousin, Clair, the Dragon-type Gym Leader of Blackthorn City in Johto. But he was most known for his history with two trainers by the name of BLUE and RED.
Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.
Blue, known for his fierce ambition and competitive nature, emerged as one of the most talented Pokémon Trainers of his generation. Grandson to the esteemed Professor Oak, Blue's journey was marked by a rivalry with Red, pushing both to their limits. Blue's early achievement of becoming the Pokémon Champion of the Kant-Johto region was a testament to his skill and determination.
However, his reign as Champion was incredibly short-lived as he was beaten by another trainer called Red just a day after becoming Champion. Red then, after beating Blue, handed back the position of Champion back to Lance.
The significance of Red's existence in this world lies in the legacy he leaves behind—a reminder that true strength comes from the heart and that the greatest battles are fought not for glory but for personal growth and the welfare of Pokemon. Red's retreat to the solitude for further training is emblematic of his introspective approach to mastery, setting a standard for aspiring trainers everywhere.
He also did some preliminary research into; Mega evolution, Z moves, dynamax and Gigantamax as well as his least favorite 'Gimmick' Terastallization.
He'd gotten a vague link to a video of Diantha's Mega Gardevoir and a reference to Professor Sycamore but not much else on the topic of Mega evolution. Lucas's knowledge of Mega Evolution will grant him a strategic advantage, as he understands the power and conditions required for this temporary but potent transformation. His awareness of the importance of a strong bond between Pokemon and trainer, along with the specific Mega Stones needed, positions him to plan effectively for battles. This insight, uncommon among many trainers, allows Lucas to anticipate and strategize against opponents, potentially surprising them with the depth of his tactical planning. His prior knowledge also motivates him to seek further expertise, enhancing both his and his Pokemon's capabilities through the strategic use of Mega Evolution.
He got more luck on the Dynamax and Z moves front and the information pretty much matched up to his knowledge he had from his previous life so he quickly skimmed through a few articles before moving onto his last and final 'Gimmick'.
Lucas, who had been an avid pokemon fan since he could even understand what it was, absolutely detested Terastallization. To him it defeated the whole purpose of typings if you could just switch it on a whim. While he had played in a few tournaments, in his previous world, he stopped after Terastallization became a mainstream meta. What he found disappointed him, it still existed although rare it was almost an open secret in the Paldea region. This was disappointing as he'd have loved to visit Paldea after his season in Sinnoh, but with this confirmation his trip to Paldea was pretty much scrapped.
After confirming his knowledge was indeed as valuable as he believed he moved onto the evil teams that showed up in the games and anime. Team Rocket was pretty much completely dismantled only the leader Giovanni was missing. This was similar in Hoen both Team leaders of Aqua and Magma being captured and only a few cells of their organization remaining. "Good," he said aloud when he read that, "No need to fear going to Hoen then." With a nod he returned to his research.
In Unova Team Plasma was just beginning to gain some traction in politics and get a name for itself. And in Kalos Team Flare was completely unheard of. Although, whilst that was good, Lysandre Labs was alive and kicking. Most recently there was news of a large partnership between them and Sycamore's Lab to research more into Mega evolution.
In Alola there was mention of team skull taking over a town and that the Aether foundation had received a subsidy from the Pokemon League to continue its biodiversity projects across the regions. This gave Lucas pause as he definitely wanted to visit Alola, if not for the Island challenges and Z moves, then for a vacation in between seasons. With this information he decided to think about it later as there was nothing he could do about them at the moment, he needed to get stronger before going up against an organization like the Aether Foundation.
In Galar Chairman Rose was seen as the sponsor and friend to the champion so was seen as someone to admire across the region. And in Paldea there was absolutely no mention of Team Star as of yet.
Now onto the main and most relevant to Lucas, Team Galactic. At the moment they were just seen as an environmental movement with some strong ideas, but there were also a few stories of some cells being linked to criminal activity that were quickly covered up and apologized for with compensation going to the victims.
Lucas absorbed this information over the six days before the season started. He reflected on the implications this all had on his journey. The knowledge from his past life, his memories he's inherited, combined with what he had learned in the last six days, offered him a unique perspective on the Pokemon world. It also reaffirmed his disdain for Team Galactic, "How dare they try and end the world I've been transported to!" He said to Torchic who was snoozing in his lap after a day of rigorous training "This world is a gift, there's no way I'm letting them get away with this." With that said he didn't really know how to start so just tossed it to future Lucas to deal with.
Once all of this information had been sifted through, he then went to the Online Pokemart website to put in an order to be delivered to Professor Rowans Lab. With the amount he had to his name along with the money he had earned from winning those two battles he had a substantial amount of 5093 Pokedollars. He also had the money from the sponsor of 3000 Pokedollars per week for when he is on the road.
As he entered the website he immediately went to the supplements and berry section, while he considered that the berries would be fairly easy to find on the routes, he thought that having a small stockpile of each berry would be beneficial just in case. Although it was fairly common knowledge that supplements were good for Pokemon, Lucas had a leg up due to his in depth knowledge that supplements like; HP Up, Protein, Iron, Calcium, Zinc, and Carbos are used to increase a Pokemon's Effort Values (EVs) in specific stats, thereby enhancing their performance in battles. Each supplement targets a different stat, allowing trainers to customize their Pokemon's growth.
Though he couldn't buy a whole lot of them like he had planned he was able to order enough for a few weeks along with the Pokemon food that he thought looked the most nutritional. This was enough for now as he can always get more with the money he won from battling along with his sponsorship. After adding these to his basket along with a few regular potions and antidotes, he thanked Arceus that they were reusable as they covered most of the checkout amount.
On a whim he did a quick search for Rare Candies, in the world of Pokemon, knowledge can be just as powerful as the Pokemon themselves. This becomes evident when Lucas, leveraging his unique insights from his past life, discovers the underestimated value of Rare Candies in his new world. Unlike most trainers who remain unaware of their full potential, Lucas recognizes Rare Candies as a pivotal resource for accelerating the growth of his Pokemon without the grind of battle after battle.
This moment marks a turning point for Lucas, who wears a sly grin as he finalizes his purchase. His savvy doesn't stop at merely securing the candies; he negotiates a deal with the supplier, positioning himself as a repeat customer. In return, he secures a significant discount of 15% on future orders, a strategic move that ensures a steady and cost-effective supply of this valuable resource.
As the transaction goes through, Lucas can't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. He's not just planning for the immediate future; he's laying the groundwork for a journey that could redefine what it means to be a Pokemon Trainer. With Rare Candies in his arsenal and a keen mind for strategy, Lucas is well on his way to carving out his legacy in the Pokemon world. The only problem is that now he is basically flat broke. He had about 1500 Pokedollars to play with before ordering the rare candies, he was now only left with just over 300. The only thing that keeps him sane as he looks at his bank balance is the face that in a few days he'll receive the first installment srom Professor Rowan.
On the eve of his departure, Lucas sat in his room, contemplating the vast journey ahead. With a world so familiar yet filled with unknowns, he acknowledged the challenges and opportunities that awaited him. "Welp, that's up to future Lucas to deal with," he mused, a mix of anticipation and resolve settling over him.
As he rose to get some rest, Torchic, sensing the shift, hopped onto his bed, ready to end the day.Together, they drifted off to sleep, the excitement of the upcoming adventure weaving through their dreams. Tomorrow would mark the beginning of Lucas's quest to carve his path through the world of Pokémon, a journey of discovery, growth, and the pursuit of becoming a renowned Fighting Type specialist.
