618. Tatzel's Sacrifice

618. Tatzel's Sacrifice

"Are you sure you want to do this, Tatzel?" Seth asked the little snakelet.

It was over two weeks ago, when he was planning and preparing of the items for the lords of Minas Mar, that the Imugi had volunteered for this act of sacrifice.

"Mom, what is that?" he had asked while Seth was looking through the catalog in the auction house.

"This is the tooth of an Elder Wyvern. I need it for Monique's spear," he answered.

Even Seth had to admit that the best item for the tip of a spear was teeth from dragon species. Although it was only an epic-rated tooth, it would have a better durability and magic conductivity than the head of the current Fang of Decay.

"But why didn't you just ask me?" Tatzel asked bluntly after Seth explained it to him.

"You?"

"Mom, I AM technically a dragon. At least a lot more than those winged lizards. I can give you a tooth!" the Imugi offered.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes! My current teeth are just my snake teeth anyways. When I grow up and become a dragon, I will grow a new set."

"Really? Wait, how do you know something like this?" Seth asked confused.

"Big Mom told me so."

Seth thought for a moment. Big Mom was Python. If somebody knew, then it was most likely her. Hesitantly the blacksmith agreed to use a Tatzel tooth, which brought them to the present. Seth was holding tongs while the snakelet had its mouth wide open, offering his teeth to him.

"And it's really okay if I pull this fang?"

"Go for it, Mom!"

Seth manned up and got ready to pull the fang. He was certain that it would hurt less if he did it quickly, so he tried to not hesitate. Gripping the tongs tightly, he used all his strength to pull out the tooth in one quick pull.

There was a short squeal and teary eyes, but as he was looking over, the Imugi had already cast healing magic and calmed down.

"You okay?"

"I'm fine, Mom."

"What a brave lad. How about we go eat ice cream later, as a reward for being so brave?"

The prospect of ice in the future quickly cheered up the snakelet. Seeing Tatzel so happy so quickly, calmed Seth's heart. With surprise, the blacksmith looked at the fang held in the tongs.

< Fang of an Imugi, Crafting Material.

Relic

The fang voluntarily given by a young Imugi. Only second to the tooth of a dragon, with great affinity for magic. The only drawback is the small size, as it was a very young Imugi.>

It was actually a relic-rated crafting material. Seth would have never expected Tatzel to be a high-quality source for materials like Puffles. Though he wouldn't use it, just pulling one tooth had broken Seth's heart. He wasn't greedy enough to hurt the snakelet for materials.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

He took a deep breath and got to work. Now that he had the material for the tip, he could start working on Monique's spear. It didn't matter that the fang was a little small since he only needed it for the tip of the spearhead.

The blacksmith tried to replicate the original Fang of Decay as closely as possible, so Monique wouldn't need long to get used to her new weapon. In general, he tried to replicate the original powers, but stronger.

With that in mind, he took the fresh fang to the anvil. The ballad he chose was similar to the ballad of decay he had used on the original spear. However, this one was one of those dedicated to Vepar and concentrated purely on his ability to make wounds fester and have the target die within several days.

It was also because he thought it was a funny connection, to enchant the spear of a turtle warrior with the ballad of a demonic mermaid. While singing the ballad he used and Charon's Obol to shape the fang into a triangular arrowhead and set it aside.

Next, he brought out a bar of legendary and forged a rough spearhead without a tip. Where it was missing the tip, he set in the arrowhead made from Tatzel's fang using his skills to weld the two different materials together.

For the spear shaft, Seth used epic . Thanks to it only took three attempts to make a usable spear shaft with the attributes of darkness, decay, and destruction. Although the effects could be a little random, the were the best choice for the shaft because of their affinity with demonic magic.

Once he welded the spear shaft and head to become a single piece, he was done with forging the body of the weapon and continued with the enchantments. Like in the original, he used the complex circuit of Piercing and Sharpness, but using the per of a craftsman, he also added Armor Penetration and Improved Stamina.

Seth judged this quite fitting for Monique's defensive fighting style which was based on creating or waiting for openings to end a fight in quick decisive strikes. With the enchantments in place, the physical item was done, and Seth started working on the soul armament.

Unfortunately, he had not found a special soul that would have fit a spear. Of course, he had looked for the soul of an incredible spear master that could help Monique become an even more terrifying threat on the battlefield.

But as expected, those kinds of souls were hard to come by, which was why Seth opted for another route. He still had the Competitive Soul, a soul that would offer strength in a duel. This was the soul that gave him the idea to try something similar to the soul of Shaula. Instead of some super epic massive soul, Seth bought a bunch of uncommon and rare souls with similar attributes. There were quite a few, like Soul of the Duelist which improved agility in a 1v1 but also mixed in ones like Soul of the Slasher that improved damage when facing many enemies.

Then he took all of those souls and fused them together. His trait did not activate after he refined the soul, but he was very satisfied with the outcome anyway.

The essence of combative spirit and zeal fermented from the minds of many driven warriors. Raise your lust for battle and get your blood pumping whenever an enemy dares to stand before you.>

If it wasn't so much work during the refining process, Seth would have been tempted to do this for all the items he was going to make. Before he forged the soul armament, he wanted to free the enchantment he was going to use.

Iapetos the Piercer, the enchantment he had used to make Iapetos' Pickaxe. The blacksmith had to break the powerful pickaxe, so he could use the enchantment on the super-powerful spear. Since he didn't mind that much, it hurt much less than when he had to erase the enchantment from the Wyvern Cuirass.

With the enchantment ready to use, he forged the soul spear and engraved the Sigil of Iapetos the Piercer on it. As the soul spear was covered in engravings, they glowed in an almost golden light. Seth had not really seen this before, but if he had to make a guess, it might have been that this happened when an enchantment was used on items that fit its original purpose.

All that was left was fusing the soul armament into the physical spear and quenching them in the waters of Styx.
