Chapter 27
After leaving Amitiel’s room, Renya walked along the corridor as he thought about his next course of actions. While he was doing so, a figure walked up to him.
“Father.”(???)
Turning his head, what he saw was Laura, she appeared to be wearing her casual clothing which consisted of a white blouse that has intricate patterns and a knee length dress with the same design.
“Laura? Is there something wrong?”(Renya)
“Nothing, I just dropped by to say my greeting.”(Laura)
She said as she bowed courteously towards Renya.
“I see? Then are you busy?”(Renya)
He asked, causing her to ponder for a moment before answering.
“Not really.”(Laura)
“Then can you accompany me around the city?”(Renya)
“Yes, I have a bit of free time since Brutus is the one in charge of patrol for the day.”(Laura)
With that, the two of them headed outside. The two of them then spent a bit of time roaming the city. Renya would often be greeted by the city fold, to which he would greet back. Along the way, Laura started asking Renya about his travels, to which he would reply and would start telling her the stories of his travel to which Laura listened to curiously.
After a while of walking around, the sun had begun to set as the two of them settled at the citadel’s kitchen to have a meal. As they did, another figure joined them at the relatively large table.
The figure had a relatively short height, together with short platinum colored hair Golden colored eyes a long pure white dress that drapes on the floor, it has an exposed back that lets her use her silver colored almost transparent wings
“Prynn.”(Renya)
“It’s been a while Lord Renya.”(???)
She said as she sat down next to Laura and Renya. But soon, another figure walked towards them.
“Lord Renya, it has truly been a while since we’ve last had a nice chat together!”(???)
On his way to the table, a short and chubby dwarf wearing a light brown vest on top of a red long sleeved buttoned shirt can be seen.
“It has indeed been a while Khali.”(Renya)
Sitting down on a vacant seat in the table, Khali made a small chuckle. After they settled down, Renya called over a nearby maid to have them prepare a meal for the four of them. Afterwards, Khali began asking Renya about his travel before proceeding to talk about how prosperous he’s going to make the city once they enable trade amongst other countries in the continent.
Prynn then began to scold Khali about not over doing things and be to be more considerate towards the people of this world. To which, Laura strongly agrees with.
Not just that, but the four of them had a warm talk with one another, similar to that of a family, a slightly strange family that is.
After they ate, the four of them went on their separate ways with Renya heading straight towards his personal quarters. Feeling a bit tired, he decided to go to sleep after taking a bath.
Just like that, three days have passed. During these days, Renya spent them together with the sentinels, talking to them and even helping out with a few things such as patrolling or in the construction of the last remaining batch of golems and other projects.
During his stay, he discovered that Thali, together with Borri, had begun utilizing the enormous stock of magic cores and materials that Renya has accumulated over the years as they’ve begun to make airships, with an especially enormous one that is going to be using another magic core of the [5th Evil God, The Spatial Calamity, Kolade Mora].
In the second day of his stay, he stood in the [2nd Layer Underground Facilities] together with Borri and Thali. Inside, the [2nd Layer Underground Facilities] had an enormous open area that Renya originally planned to serve as a storage for the golems that he would make for the future, but became a hanger where construction undertook. In it, a large array of multiple golems and ships are being built.
Seeing the 500meter long black steel frame of a ship that’s undergoing construction, together with a dozen other ship frames that were around 200 meters in length, left him slightly agape.
“So this ship, its purpose is for war?”(Renya)
“Yes, and to be precise, it’s for carrying golems to different areas over long distances as well as serving as a battleship. Although we can use mass teleportation for transporting them, it becomes a bit inconvenient when it comes to the ones the size of Titan Golems.”(Thali)
“I see, but thinking about going to war against another country or nation, we have to prepare for the worst after all.”(Renya)
Nodding their heads in agreement, Renya continued.
“I appreciate the hard work you’ve done up until now. But don’t overwork yourselves, okay?”(Renya)
“Hohohoho! Lord Renya, overworking is a word that does not belong in our dictionaries! Besides, we can’t overwork ourselves with just this much and unless we are forced into a fight to the death, our bodies will always remain at its peak condition no matter what activity we do, with a few exceptions that is. Hohohohoho!”(Borri)
“Indeed, no need to worry so much M’lord. This is for the city and your sake after all.”(Thali)
“(That’s right, they’re the same as me. They’re no longer normal beings, but transcended ones.)”(Renya)
Thinking so, he nodded his head.
Transcended beings, a state on reaches after reaching level 100, unlike their non-transcended counterparts, transcended beings gain a significantly stronger body and become stronger in all aspects in general. Not only that, but their racial traits become more powerful.
Not only that, but when a transcended being reaches level 200, the quirks of being a transcended becomes even stronger and they are given the skill [Fly] which as the name suggests, allow the user to fly.
Continuing his words, Renya said.
“I guess that I was getting worried over nothing.”(Renya)
“Hohohoh! It just shows how much you care for us Lord Renya!”(Borri)
He laughed heartily as he proudly said.
“Now then, shall we continue with the construction M’lord?”(Thali)
With that, Renya and the other two began resumed their work in the underground facility.
On the fourth day of his stay. Renya was in the [2nd Layer Underground Facilities], helping with with the construction of the ship when one of Amitiel’s men came to him.
“Lord Renya, here are your equipment.”(???)
Coming closer, he gave him bundle of armor, together with a bow and quiver. Looking at the set closer, he discovered that its appearance has somewhat changed.
The originally dark blue colored hooded mantle turned into a white one, while the rest of the set had little change apart from the color. However, the bow and quiver were the ones that received the most change. The black metal limbs turned into a silvery white with its string becoming of the same material, the quiver had the same design as well.
Looking at the bundle of equipment again, he discovered a sheathed curved sword. Grabbing it by the scabbard, he unsheathed it, revealing a glass like blade which had golden magic runes engraved in it. After sheathing the curved sword back into its scabbard, Renya nodded in approval.
“These are some decent equipment, the armor became a [Mythical] grade set that’s approaching [Legendary] in terms of quality while the weapons themselves are [Legendary].”(Renya)
Hearing his praise, the man nodded before replying.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
“Lord Renya, Sir Amitiel assigned me to give you this map.”(???)
He said as he grabbed a small rolled up map from his breast pocket. Renya accepted the map, giving it a quick look before storing it in his [Inventory].
“Sir Amitiel also asked me to relay you this message,
Nodding his head in reply, Renya spoke.
“Give Amitiel and Borri my word of thanks.
*Sigh*.
Now then I should get going now. Give the others a notice of my departure, no need to make my leave all that grand.”(Renya)
Saying those words, Renya headed towards the surface of the city. Giving it one last glance, he opened a window before closing it again a few minutes after.
Renya then equipped his equipment, donning the white hooded mantle. A few moments, a white owl flew towards Renya, landing on his shoulder. Petting her head, both of their figures became enveloped in a bright light as they appeared in the forest below the city.
Looking around, he glanced at the enormous [Titan City] above that casted a shadow so great that one could’ve easily mistaken the time of the day to be night should it be casted over one’s house.
Grabbing the map that was given to him, he looked over the city he planned on visiting this time around, [Ferron City]. Seeing its location, Renya headed west together with Little White.
After half a day of walking, Renya began seeing a drastic change in environment. The amount of trees in his surroundings decreased more and more, the humid air became dry together with the soil beneath his feet. Traveling for another hour on foot, the soil became sand, the trees were no more, and the temperature increased.
Deciding to stop his travel for a while as the sun is about to set, he discovered a nearby river that appeared to be flowing towards the direction where he’s heading. Looking off into the distance, he discovered another river heading in slightly different direction and looking over again, another river appeared.
“For a desert, this area has a lot of rivers…”(Renya)
Walking closer to the river, he kneeled down to scoop a handful of water. Seeing his actions, Little White flew down from his shoulder as she began drinking water from the river.
Bringing the handful of water to his face, he drank a mouthful before shaking off the excess water on his hands.
“It’s pretty cold as well.”(Renya)
Feeling dumbfounded by the phenomenon, he decided to not mind it for now as he stood up.
“Little White, let’s go.”(Renya)
Hearing his call, she looked over before flapping her wings as she flew on top his left shoulder. Seeing her seated comfortably, the two of them continued their travel.
Before they knew it, the sun has set as the desert became dark with the only source of light being the moon and the starry sky. Not only that, but the cold desert wind had begun blowing in the night, carrying sand from one place to another. To many, these sources of light might be a bit too dim to see, but to Renya and Little White, these are more than enough.
“The night sky… without the lights from the city nor the villages, is more beautiful… don’t you think so Little White?”(Renya)
Immersed in the light and beauty of the night sky, Renya said and as if responding to his words, Little White nodded her head as she admired the night sky as well.
Just like that, the two of them spent the night traveling whilst admiring the night sky until dawn the next day.
Not feeling a bit of fatigue, Renya questioned as to why he could go on without any form of rest before realizing that he never needed rest in the first place, physical rest that is. Realizing that the sleep he’s been getting are nothing more than habits he acquired back from when he was still human.
For the next two hours, the desert has been silent, with nothing but the dry wind blowing. As far as Renya’s estimates go, they should be a third of the way towards [Ferron City]. But just as he was starting to get used to the silence, he could see the sand several kilometers away in front move in large amounts.
“Little White, go scout the area ahead.”(Renya)
With that, Little White flew away from his shoulder to the skies. As she did, Renya groaned and complained.
“Damn, when Amitiel said that there was going to be a ‘rather large desert’, I never expected it to be this vast!”(Renya)
-•••••-
[Current Time]
With the corpse of the Sandstorm Hunter lying lifelessly in front of Renya and Little White, Renya prepared for the other monsters ahead on his path as he carried on with his journey.
As his did, the sand a couple kilometers away began moving at a rapid pace. As it did, the sand made a motion as if something was crawling underneath it that was moving towards them.
“Another one? No, there’s two of them.”(Renya)
Pulling two arrows from his quiver, he signaled Little White to get off his shoulder, to which she follows as she flew away from the scene, creating a rather large gap between here and the ground.
As she did, Renya nocked one of the arrows into the bow in his hands as he prepared to shoot. But, almost as if the Sandstorm Hunters knew what to expect, they split apart as the attempted to do a pincer attack.
“(They’re a lot more intelligent from what I remember them to be.)”(Renya)
He thought so as he stood still, slightly bending his knees as he anticipated the attack.
Within moments, the sandstorm hunters were only a dozen meters away from Renya, showing how terrifyingly fast they can move in the desert. But, unfortunately for them, Renya had long anticipated their attacks.
As the two Sandstorm Hunters surfaced, opening their mouths as they pounced towards Renya. But as they did, Renya made an enormous leap, pulling his bowstring midair causing the arrow to glow a faint blue color. Releasing his pull, the arrow shot through the head of one of the Sandstorm Hunters, killing it instantly as it crashed forward due to the momentum it gained as it surfaced.
But Renya did not end there, he pulled his bow, nocking the other arrow in his hand as he did before it too began to glow in a faint blue color. Releasing his pull yet again, the other Sandstorm Hunter died in the same manner as the other.
Landing on his feet. He surveyed the area ahead with [Eagle Eye] in the case that more Sandstorm Hunters come.
Fortunately, they seemed to have ran away which made Renya ponder about their intelligence.
A few moments later, Little White returned as she landed on his shoulder. Looking at her appearance, she appeared worried.
“What’s wrong?”(Renya)
Asking her a question, a window appeared in front of Renya.
Little White has discovered a severely injured friendly human ahead. Threat level: Extremely LowDistance away: 7 Kilometers
“What’s a person doing in the middle of the desert?! Bring me to where this is!”(Renya)
He exclaimed as he urged Little White to guide him towards the person.
Author Note: Aye! I have good news and bad news, bad news is, I can no longer post a chapter a day since I no longer have as much free time as I did a couple months ago. The good news however, is that I am still able to post 2-3 chapters a week depending on my schedule! And as long as I don't have somewhere to be on the weekend, mainly Sunday, I am sure to be able to post a chapter that week. And that the reason there wasn't a chapter for the longest time is that editing is a lot more boring and procrastination triggering than writing. Also, there are a few of you that happen to be in the NUF that'd ask me about the next chapter, so there's that!
