There was one week left (in game time) until the end of the beta. An enormous event, which included all 1000 beta testers, had been announced. We would end this thing with a 'bang!' is what my father had told me. Indeed, it would be flashy. The goal? The entire annihilation of the small kingdom of Sierre! A tiny kingdom on the edge of the southern continent, it's citizens and royalty worshiped the dark god, Deine. Well, there is nothing wrong with dark gods in my opinion, but these people slaughter many others in the name of religion. Religious fanatics, man... I won't say they're all crazy, but... well you know what I mean (or do you?).
Anyways, all 1000 players gathered from the four corners of this world for the event. The prize that goes to the player who contributes the most? They get a title with bonuses after the game is officially released world wide. Additionally, they will start off with a bit of extra money and fame than other players. Receiving help from various kingdoms, we, the players, would be forming an army of 10,000! The Kingdom of Sierre had a force of equal numbers, that averaged around level 70~90. By the way, the average of the beta testers is roughly level 90, with the highest being the player "Lance" at level 119, and the lowest level player at level 77.
Indeed, destroying an entire kingdom seems like an exciting job... I would be joining the army, of course, as a normal soldier. Even so, no matter how high my contribution is, I won't be getting any prizes from it. I would be keeping my contribution to the kingdoms though... as would all the beta testers who would participate it seems. A little extra incentive to get everyone to participate. Despite this... with 10,000 soldiers, and 1000 players, the amount of contribution from a single person would not amount to much.
I stared at the soldier in front of me. He was a veteran, and was wearing well polished and untouched iron armor, different from the well worn gear the other soldiers in the front lines wear. He stared back. Our staring contest lasted a good five minutes before we were interrupted by another player, who was coming up from behind me to register for the army. "Hurry it up!" He said impatiently, tapping his foot. The veteran soldier broke my gaze to glare at the man, making him fall silent. He turned back to me.
"So, kid, you gonna register?" He asked, his voice gruff as he eyed me.
"Yah." I replied, arms crossed over my (flat) chest. I released the smallest amount of killing intent out. He nodded in approval, waving me past.
I joined the ranks of players and NPCs milling about, some cooking fires already going. My black wolf ear twitched as I took in all the sounds. There was a light and humorous air among the players, but the soldiers were dead serious, polishing their weapons and checking their armor carefully. After all, the players would lose nothing in this war. The NPCs on the other hand...
I set about polishing my own gear, sitting down on the cold hard ground as I did so. My form was solid underneath the bright noon sun, and I wasted no energy in blending with the shadows. Some people eyed my small form, whether due to my high level gear or my child-like appearance I don't know.
"Hey, you." A guy in white gold armor stood in front of me, a few other higher level players trailing behind him.
I looked up curiously, tilting my head to this side. 'Isn't this guy...?' I thought to myself, After a moment of thought (and peeking at his profile), I came to the conclusion that he was indeed the player who had seen through my Sneak skill.
"I'm talking to you!" He said, his voice dripping in arrogance. Why did my specially granted title go to this guy? My ear twitched slightly in annoyance.
"Yeah?" I said, glaring a little at him. He ignored it.
"You a traveler?" He asked, traveler being the NPCs word for a player (it also included other titles like adventurer or freedmen).
"No, I'm not." I immediately replied, glaring at him. "Now go away. I ain't got the time of day to play around with you younglings." I sneered at him, shooing him off with my hand and turning my attention back to my blades.
"Wha- do you not know who I am!?" He exclaimed, offended by my gesture. He did have quite some fame built up... but that didn't effect me since I wasn't actually an NPC.
I snorted. "Just 'cuz you do a few good deeds here and there you think you'll have your name known by everyone...? The arrogance of kids these days..." I muttered, loud enough for him to hear. I should get a prize for my acting ability, I'm doing a pretty good job at it, huh?

"Y-you...!" He was pretty angry by now but he took a deep breath and reeled in his temper. 'Huh, I didn't expect that,' I thought, glancing at him through narrowed eyes.
"Me?" I scoffed, standing up. I was two heads, maybe two and a half heads, shorter than him, but I still stared him down. My silver blue eyes were cold and I flipped a strand of my black hair over my shoulder. "You, what?" I asked, voice icy.
"How dare you!!" He was furious now, his previous calm gone. He didn't answer my question and came swinging at me with his fist, his movements rough and amateurish. He clearly had no out of game experience with combat. I moved smoothly away, and let him stumble by, missing me by a couple of centimeters. I had no wasted movements, extending my leg slightly as he tripped over it, then himself, and landed in a heap on the ground. Many spectators were just barely able to hold their laughter.
This served to outrage the now dirty but still brightly shining player even further, his ears bright red in embarrassment. "Kid, don't overestimate yourself. There are plenty of things in the world stronger than you." I told him, my smirk disappearing as I stared down at the gold-haired player with a stony look in my eyes. He stayed silent, glaring at me. I turned around and wandered away to a secluded place where I wouldn't be bothered, sitting down with a sigh. Acting like that is actually pretty hard after all, I am a naturally nice person in the first place. Playing the mean and evil guy once in a while wasn't that bad though.
It took another three days before everyone was assembled. All the beta players had logged in, greatly anticipating the next part of the event- the actual battle. The tension was high as we all marched to the battleground- a vast plain of nothing but cracked earth and dust. It would be a head on battle with no major strategy involved. We would charge in and kill the enemy, plain and simple like that.
The enemy's army was assembled before the walls of their capital city, which lay behind row after row of their soldiers. A wide open place like this was not the best way to make use of my abilities, but I was absolutely confident in slaughtering everyone here. It would be difficult, true, but not impossible. Soon there was only a narrow strip of land between the two armies, the wind kicking up dust as we faced each other down like in one of those old historical novels- truly, it was a sight to behold.
I was at the very front, which consisted almost solely of NPCs. Most of these players didn't have the guts to stand right before the enemy and become human meatshields for their allies. I admired the few who did stand here, feeling the tension between the two armies vibrate on their skin, the very earth trembling underneath the feet of the soldiers.
There was silence for several moments before the generals on each side shouted "Charge!" at the top of their lungs. Ferocious roars rose from the mouths of each person as they all ran full sprint at each other. The moments before weapons began to clash seemed to stretch on for eternity- the moment metal touched metal time snapped back to it's normal pace, the sound of battle surrounding me.
I sliced the neck of the first person I encountered, then dodged the spear of the man behind him, slipping into his guard and cutting off his head neatly. Blood sprayed everywhere, and there was even the sound of burning flesh as men screamed and met their ends at the hands of other men. I burst into thick black fog, diving deeper into the enemy lines, electricity rumbling inside the clouds.
"I ask for your blessing oh god of thunder. What I desire is for my enemies to burn!" I mumbled under my tongue, and the people who brushed up against my lightning burst into blue flame, the smell causing some of the weaker hearted to vomit- which in turn led to their death.
I returned back to solid storm, my sword slicing through people like they and their armor were made out of tofu. The speed at which I swung my sword caused the wind to howl, and I was only a black blur to the eyes of others.

I've been writing this really slowly so I decided I should just release the part I have already written and then finish the next half later. Since I haven't released a chapter in so long >.< Sorry! School + Writer's Block (thanks for all the inspiration) + Procrastination combine to make a pretty powerful attack on my laziness.
