Black Ship
Chapter 20

Chapter 20

One morning they bid farewell from the island and set up the sail back to the Flakin Sea. The sky was clear and the sea was calm. "This was an unbelievable adventure," said Marcel, leaning against the helm. "Who would have thought that the treasure would be in another sea and hidden underwater?" he continued. "It would have been impossible without this guy," Greg grabbed Duke's shoulder. Before they reached the Sea of Wrecks they saw a familiar ship, it was the captain that they paid a fee to help them cross. They slowly approached their ship and as they approached it Greg saw that their cannons were ready to fire. A warning shot was fired and Marcel stopped the ship. A boat was approaching Marcel's ship from their direction. "Good day fellas," said one of the people from the boat. "What is the meaning of this?" asked Marcel confused. "Hand over all your treasure if you want to pass," continued the man. "Why? No!" said Marcel. "Well... then we will take it ourselves, said the other man while climbing the ladder. "Stop!" Greg pulled out his sword. "If I give the signal your ship will sink," said the man. Everyone started panicking and Marcel did not know what to do. "Fine, take it!" said Marcel angry. "Our pleasure!" said the man and went down to grab the wooden chests. "Ah... What a nice plunder," said the man admiring the content of the chests. "I doubted that we would find anything on this ship but this just made our day," said the man and laughed. The man loaded up the wooden chests filled with Marcel's treasure and left with the boat. "Why did this have to happen?" said Greg and punched the mast. Everyone was frustrated and did not know what to do. Their emotions of anger were taking over. When the boat arrived at the other captain's ship, the cannons started firing. "Take cover!" yelled Marcel. Their ship was bombarded by cannon balls for a good amount of minutes. When they stopped firing the cannons they turned around and left. Marcel's ship was badly damaged but it was not sunk. "I can not believe it!" yelled Marcel. "Is everyone alright?" he asked. Luckily the ship protected all of them and none got injured. They passed the Sea of Wrecks and stopped at the nearest island they found to try and patch the damage they sustained. After repairing some of the holes they spent the night on the island. Everyone was silent around the fire, it was hard for any of them to talk about what happened. The next morning they left the island and went towards Black Lagoon. It was a hard couple of days for them to pass. They were still not talking with each other, because they were blaming themselves for what happened. In the port of Black Lagoon a familiar ship was docked. It was Captain Nameless's ship, from the Kronen Sea. Marcel's face brightened up a bit as they were anchoring the ship.

Marcel and Greg went to Night's Vow and the rest went to the other tavern. Captain Nameless and his crew were sitting at the tables in Night's Vow eating and drinking. Everyone else looking at them because of how loud they were. Marcel approached the captain and said, "How come you came here?". The captain turned around with his cup in his hand and hiccuped. "Do I know you young man?" he asked. "You forgot about me?" said Marcel. "I have no idea who you are, but if you know who I am you will better get going," said Captain Nameless. Marcel left and started crying. "Why everything is going wrong these days?" he asked himself while looking at the sky. Greg grabbed his shoulder and reminded him that they met in the future, and they were still sailing on the Sea of Time. "A lot of events have not happened yet, no need to be upset," said Greg trying to comfort Marcel. "There will be rough times like this, but we will overcome them together," he continued. Then they both headed back to the tavern to rest. Marcel slowly opened the door and everyone inside despite what happened wanted to get up their captain's morale and make a cake together. "Surprise!" they all yelled and Marcel was happy to see them all together. He fell to his knees and said with tears in his eyes, "I can not thank you enough!". They spent the rest of the night talking and enjoying themselves. The next morning Marcel went to the docks and saw that Captain Nameless was about to depart. He approached him and asked him about Captain Frown. "Who? Why do you know that name, ey?" said Captain Nameless and turned around. "Oy... You are the young one from last night, aren't ya?" he continued. "Yes, I am," said Marcel while kneeling. "That does not answer my question, ey," said Nameless. "From where do you know thy name?" he continued. "How about a drink and I will tell you everything?" said Marcel while looking straight into his eyes. Captain Nameless started laughing and then said, "Oy, you might be the first to do it so boldly, but I'll accept it. A tingling feeling tells me you got an interesting story, ey?" said Captain Nameless and followed Marcel to Night's Vow. The rest of his crew remained at the ship. When the tavern master saw Captain Nameless return he turned pale. "Not for you, ey... This young fella has something up his sleeve and I can not wait to hear it," said Captain Nameless to the tavern master. They took a seat at a table and ordered some drinks. "Oy! I do not have all day... Spit it out would ya?" said Captain Nameless. And Marcel did so. He started telling him about how he and Captain Frown met, about the adventures they went through and he arrived at the part where he met with Captain Turquoise Beard. "Oy! I am searching for him... You know where that Weird Beard is?" said Nameless. "I do not, sorry," said Marcel and continued his story. When Marcel got to the part with the monster, Captain Nameless's eyes started to sparkle. He was speechless and curious about how it went. After Marcel finished his stories about how they met and how he and Captain Frown know each other Captain Nameless stood up and said, "Another!". And in a split second, the tavern master brought them more drinks.

"Oy! Tell me more about how you got here," said Captain Nameless while holding his cup. Marcel told the captain how they traveled back in time and what they had been through ever since. "Rough... very rough, ey?" said Captain Nameless. "That is the way of the sea, unpredictable, deceiveable..." he finished his drink. "About that shiny colored sphere... Can I see it as well ey?" asked Nameless. "Of course!" said Marcel and they went to the tavern where everyone from Marcel's crew was waiting. The door opened and they were shocked to see Captain Nameless entering through it. "Oy!" said Captain Nameless. "You got a nice crew, ey?" he continued looking at Anna and Bianca. "Not many gals on the sea, but boy oh boy... I wouldn't mind getting robbed by those two," whispered Captain Nameless. "Be careful what you wish for," said Marcel while looking at Anna. They both started laughing. Marcel went upstairs and brought the artifact and showed it to Captain Nameless. His mouth opened so wide that his saliva started flowing out. "Magnificent!" said Captain Nameless. "And you say that there are more out there ey?" he continued. "Yes!" said Marcel. Simon brought the map with the artifact from the Kronen Sea. He showed it to Nameless and they were surprised to hear him saying, "I have no earthly idea where this is,". "But... I know someone who knows," he continued. "Would you like to come with us?" asked Captain Nameless. Everyone was looking at Marcel as he was prepared to give his decision. "Yes!" said Marcel and everyone was happy to hear it. "Let me tell my crew that we stay one more night here, ey," said Captain Nameless and left the tavern. After he told his crew he returned to the tavern and continued his stories with Marcel. This was the last time he came to Black Lagoon before they met in the future. "The beast can wait, those shiny artifacts are more appealing!" said Captain Nameless. "I am sure that Weird Beard will be fine, ey," he continued and drank from the cup. The next morning they headed to the docks where his crew was waiting. "Oy! We are going with my ship," said Nameless. "Your wreck will not survive long enough for you to reach the artifact on Kronen Sea," he continued. Even if those were harsh words, he was right and they got on board in Nameless ship. After a couple of days on the sea, they were approaching the border of the Kronen Sea. They were waited by the fleet of Captain Nameless. "Every time I see it it does not cease to surprise me," said Greg. "Me neither," said Marcel. They got into formation and entered the Kronen Sea. As they were sailing the water changed color and weird noises were resounding through the air. "Oy! Be careful out there," yelled Captain Nameless. Tim and Hulio were close to the edge of the ship. A big eel emerged from the water between the ships and Marcel's crew started panicking. Captain Nameless did not even flinch at the appearance of the eel and he gave the signal. In a couple of seconds, all the fleet cannons were pointed towards the eel. After three warning shots, the eel went back underwater. "This is normal around here, ey," said Captain Nameless while turning the helm. They stopped on an island right before the sun was setting. "We will get to him in a couple more days," said Nameless and threw a log on fire. "Who is this person?" asked Marcel. "This person is one of the oldest to sail the Kronen Sea, ey," said Nameless. "Is he that old?" asked Marcel surprised by the tone of Nameless voice. "Nah... He just wants to be called like that. He might be even younger than me, ey," said Captain Nameless and started laughing. "Is he that experienced?" asked Marcel. "Without a doubt. All I know I have learned personally from him," he said. "Do you think he will teach us as well?" said Marcel with sparkles in his eyes. "If you will meet his requirements of course, but take note that he is very picky about taking in other people to teach them," said Captain Nameless. "Anyway... It is late and we have a couple more days until we reach his place. Get some rest because tomorrow night we will sail," said Captain Nameless and closed his eyes.

It was hard for Marcel's crew to sleep due to the noises that the beasts were making, but in the morning they woke up very energic. They were not asked to help with anything on the ship and yet they were trying to do so. Anna and Bia were helping the chef to prepare the breakfast. Tim and Hulio were cleaning the deck and Fred was at the cannons. The day was calm and not many beasts appeared but as the night was falling over the sea, the noises became more frequent and the water was more agitated. Big octopus tentacles grabbed one ship right beside the one where Marcel was on and it crushed it. The other ships shot the tentacles before they went underwater and lowered boats for the people who were on the ship. "Oy! Do not look back," said Captain Nameless to Marcel. "If you want to survive you shoot, rescue and continue, ey?" he continued. "I understand," said Marcel. Marcel's crew went downstairs and tried to rest while Captain Nameless's crew made it through the night. In the morning they stopped on an island and resupplied and assessed the damage caused during the night. Luckily for them, they only lost the ship but everyone made it out safely from the attack. "We stay the night here," said Captain Nameless. "We need a new ship before we continue. I am not risking sailing those waters without a full fleet," said Captain Nameless and went towards the town. There were a couple of taverns available there and they took all the rooms. Marcel insisted on paying, but Nameless did not allow him to do so. During the day a couple of ships came passing by and Nameless was waiting on the docks with his crew trying to get a good price for one of the ships. The evening came and they were not successful in finding another ship to replace the destroyed one. Captain Nameless's crew went back to town and he remained on the docks. Marcel joined him and they saw a couple of ships coming their way. "Ah... Hope that they have one to spare," said Captain Nameless. "What if they do not?" asked Marcel. "There are people making coins only from selling ships, ey... It is just hard to find the right people," said Captain Nameless. "What do you mean by right people?" said Marcel. "Some haggle a lot because their price is too high," said Nameless. As the ships were approaching the island Captain Nameless slapped himself a couple of times and then sat down. When the ships arrived he went straight to the captain and asked for one of the ships. "Let us do business at a glass of something, shall we?" said the captain. They all went to the tavern, bought some drinks, and sat at a table. "So... Tell me, what happened that you require a ship?" said the captain. "We were sailing last night, and a giant octopus grabbed one of them and snapped it in two," said Nameless. "Ugh... That is rough... Who would be so reckless to sail the night on these waters?" said the captain. Marcel was staring at the captain's appearance. He had a black cloak with raven feathers and the beaks of parrots. His hat was much more colored which reminded him of the artifact. And on one hand, he had a hook. "Fine... Which one do you need?" asked the captain. "One equipped enough to make it through those beasts," said Nameless. "All of them are," said the captain. "Price?" said Nameless while playing with a coin on the table. "Hmm... Considering you are reckless enough to sail the night, you tell me what you consider a fair price," said the captain. Captain Nameless said his price and the other captain accepted without a second thought. Then they finished drinking and went to rest. In the morning Nameless went and picked the ship, gave the captain the purse of coins, and then left. Captain Nameless returned to the tavern and waited for everyone to wake up and continued their way towards the man who knows the Kronen Sea.
