Chapter 06

They all stared as Earth began disappearing, swallowed up by the purple inking blackness behind it slowly.

“Is there any way we can stop this,” Renton yelled. As Jan came to her position next to him on his left, Elsa too her post on the console right behind him and Michelle was on the right of him.

“It’s pure energy captain, there is nothing to shoot at well nothing tangible because it is not a weapon, reading show it’s natural,” Elsa analysed.

“So, what does this mean,” Renton said, with a slight panic in his voice. “Come on come on does anybody have any ideas?”

At first nobody looked, they were all horrified looking at the screen; then suddenly everybody realised what the captain had asked. One by one they started looking at their consoles.

Michael Hussain, the Iranian acting operations officer looked up from his console “I think it's a black hole Sir.”

Hussain was brought in as a substitute to the actual operations officer, who had a touch of the flu, which doctors have still not found a proper cure for. Still preventive methods are being used, like ‘the Flu shot’. A final year student Mike was dubbed a genius in his class.

“Are you sure Michael?” Renton asked. “It doesn't look like any textbook black hole that we have learnt about.”

The 20-year-old middle eastern cadet-officer was average height, hair slightly long than usual cadet, smart and athletic, with dull misty eyes, looked a bit out of place at the moment. Looking at the screen and again down at his console realising that the captain was right in the fact that the visual of the black hole that they were seeing was different than anything they have learnt when they were studying at the UESA (United Earth Space Academy).

But the science was there, a one-dimensional area which contains a huge mass in an extremely small space, where density and gravity become incalculable and space-time curves extremely, and where the laws of physics as we know them don’t work logically.

The problem with science is each time a new discovery is found or a new theory is put forth sometimes the old theories, discoveries and formulas are partially or completely destroyed by it. Because Science is always changing.

Even great scientist like Einstein, who put out the laws of relativity, which are still used today, have put out completely wrong and disastrous theories, like his ‘stationary’ or ‘Einstein’ universe. Einstein predicted our universe, like the name he put out was a ‘stationary’ or a ‘static’ universe. Which was later debunked by Edwin Hubble, and we now know is ‘dynamic’ and ‘expanding’.

This was the only form of jealousy which existed in the world now, other forms have all been phased out. Since all the countries have united together, everywhere there is peace, except egotistical jealousy, when it comes to professional work in science or any academic field of any kind, its everyman for himself sometimes.

The thirst for knowledge is what drives the people of this generation, and it’s the only cutthroat business, which is there out in frontier science.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

Mike looked up, “the readings are different from the textbook readings we were taught at the academy."

They peered out they couldn’t still see the anomaly itself; they just saw the border of its event Horizon, which was the purple light.

“Wow it’s so beautiful,” a female crew member gasped.

A Black hole usually is a small rip in space and time, which sucks in everything close to the hole inside it, it has a gravity pull that is more powerful the closer you get, and the time near the hole is supposed to slow down the closer you are to the anomaly. But it was pretty hard to determine the differences.

Everyone was staring at what was going on, mesmerised when suddenly It happened.

Fernando like everyone had his eyes fixed on the view screen. Earth was there one minute then gone.

“What the fuck,” Renton cried out. “It was sucked in!!”

Hudson saw the top ring of the space dock along with an intact Deliverance and a 2 pieced Exodus fly past the Salvation.

Braxton was just coming in from the lift and gasped, “Oh my GOD!!”

“Maximum sublight Lieutenant into that fucking hole!” Renton yelled.

Without a word Fernando punched it.

The Last thing anyone including Micheal Hussain saw was the purple outline of the black event horizon approaching and filling the view screen and then darkness.

From space if God or a higher being was watching from a distance, they would see a small ship arrive at a scene where a huge purple fissure with a large black circular space in the middle appeared in front of this Blue Planet. The ship looked helpless as it watched on.

Moments before the craft arrived, the circular fissure had swallowed the planet’s only natural satellite and now it was going for the planet itself. Like a predator swallowing up its prey, children first before it goes after the parent, inching towards the planet. Bit by bit, inch by inch, waiting to pounce. In this case the event horizon as it moves in.

It’s not a rare occurrence, it happens in the universe thousands of times, maybe millions of times. But to these inexperienced human creatures who are about to lose their home planet, it was indeed a tragedy of inconceivable proportions.

They should have planned for this eventuality, after all they know the science. So many Scholars and Scientists have predicted and discovered so many stars dying out. Did the Humans think all these stars went out naturally?

As earth gets pulled in, mankind does what they do best as this captain of theirs demonstrates, they jump into the unknown without thinking, or gauging their risk. Asking the pilot to push into the anomaly in front as the ship goes in, but soon as the ship enters the fissure it dissipates.

Everything goes back to nearly the way it was, not even knowing whether a third planet from the Sun had disappeared, because instead of a blue planet now as the third one there was a Red Planet.

No trace of the mythical Blue Planet never existed, none of its life, Flora and Fauna, it’s blue Oceans or it’s incredible landscapes ever existed. All known life in the Sol System had just vanished.

Only 7 Planets with its Satellites and the dwarf planet Pluto and its moon was left, all orbiting 4.5-billion-year-old young Sun. with Venus and Mars already closing the gap already.
