Everything was black. Noah could only hear a female voice illuminating the area.

Welcome to Royal Road. Do you want to create a new character?

Noah thought about it for a second. He remembered Duke telling him to not use his real name in game because it would be boring.

“Noir.”

Since he liked the colour black.

Noir means black in French.

Royal Road has forty-nine races. You may select your race from the primary twenty-nine. Human, Elf, Beast-

“Beast.” Noir quickly chose.

In a split second, Noir could see his own reflection. His hair was longer and messier than how he looked before. His brows were also thicker and darker. He decided not to change anything except the shape of his iris and the thickness of his brows. He made his irises smaller and similar to that of a cat’s. As for his brows, he decrease their thickness by 45%.

The game automatically grows hair on players who chose Beast as their race. However, since Noir was still considered a child, he did not have any hair growing on his lower body to make the game as realistic as possible.

Noir remembered Duke telling him to start in the Southfield of Magnolia, Rachel so he picked it without much thought. He thought that it would be more advantageous for him if he had company upon starting the game as a new player.

A bright light surrounded the room that was once dark until Noir was blinded. As it began to slowly fade, he could make a little out of his surroundings.

He first heard chatter and birds chirping. When he opened his eyes, he was in a somewhat abandoned yet beautiful church. He was more than amazed. He tried moving his arms, hand, neck and legs.

Noir stood in awe as he inspected his surroundings more. There were a few players who stared at him.
