Walk to School

Walk to School

Loud. If I had to pick, that's how I would describe what was in front of me at the moment. Crowds of people, shouting from their little stalls, in front of them were tables filled with little eye-catching trinkets, groups of teens, who couldn't help but gossip as they walk along the sidewalk. All of it made my head hurt.

'Can't they talk in school or something?' I thought to myself as I continued walking.

I really wanted to tell them off for taking up space in the middle of the road, but they would probably beat me up if I did, I thought as I looked back at their uniforms.

A white polo, topped by a navy blue blazer, on their chest was a tiny emblem with the letter 'N' on it. They all looked neat and proper, most couldn't help but stare as they walked through, gazes full of jealousy and envy were being directed straight at them.

If it wasn't more obvious, I was one of those people, not the ones in the uniform, but the ones who were staring.

It's not everyday you'll see students from Neo, walking down the crowded streets, usually they'd be in their fancy limos, dashing through traffic.

I couldn't help but sigh as I looked up. The sky looked normal, as per usual, except for the occasional flying person. In the middle of it all was a big floating island, far from everything else, it would've covered the entire city if it was any closer, I thought.

Neo Academy, a place where all the young masters and young misses go to, they like to think of themselves as an academy that teaches young teens how to properly use their abilities.

'I doubt they learn anything other than being prim and proper so they could ask their daddies for extra money' I thought as I kept on walking. A normal plebian like me could never go to somewhere like that, not like I want to anyways, I can't imagine what it's like sitting in class with a group of richy rich people, just the thought of it made me physically recoil.

I kept on walking, trying to ignore all the things going on around me. It wasn't that long until I finally reached my destination.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

'It's my last day' I thought as I looked at the building in front of me, it looked like a usual school, students running around, groups of friends talking to each other, and a skinny guy with glasses standing in front of the gate, looking at his phone.

'Rein' I thought to myself as I slowly sneaked up behind him. He was watching some type of news on his phone, which was weird since he wasn't the type of guy who would watch the news if it wasn't about his favorite idol group, so I couldn't help but listen in.

"-o they are planning on sending another group to the infamous 'Hakin Forest' for the 3rd time this year." was what I heard, before he paused the video and played an idol song instead.

"Wow, this is the 56th time this month" I said. Rein, startled suddenly turned of his phone and out it in his pocket. He must've pressed the wrong buttons, because instead of stopping the music became louder, making everyone look at us, but they all continued walking as if this was a daily occurrence.

"R-Ray! What was that for?!" He exclaimed as he quickly turned the music off. "My bad"

I replied as I tried my best not to laugh. Rein was one of my only friends in this school, the thought of it being my last day with him made me a little sad.

Well it's not like I won't be talking to him after we graduate, I thought trying to calm the flustered Rein down. After that we made our way inside the school.

Ares Cadet Academy, an academy for young teens to learn basic combat skills and increase their understanding of ether, but it also functioned like a normal school, though not as popular as Neo Academy, it was alright, and it was only 2 years, so that's neat.

"So? You like watching non-idol news now?" I asked sarcastically, he looked at me with a weird face. "No" he said in a somewhat disgusted tone. "The Hooks, they're sending another raid group to Hakin again, I just thought it was weird" he added.

The Hooks, a family- no.. more like a corporation, the richest of the rich if I had to describe them. The ones who are at the very top, a talented guild compromised of nothing but Hooks, and by that I mean everyone with the blood of a Hook. They're so obsessed with their ancestry, I wouldn't be surprised if some of their were inbreds

We continued our conversation as we kept walking.

The school wasn't that big, so we made our way to our classroom very fast, it was already filled with people, most were just talking to their friends, while some were sitting alone reading a book. I made my way to my seat, and waited for the teacher to come in.

Then the door opened, and in came a man who looked to be in his mid-40s, wearing a red polo shirt and beige pants, and he had a beer gut. He's Mr. Port our class adviser.

He made his way to the front of the class,

"Alright, as you all know this is your last day in here, so y'all can do whatever you want, I don't give a shit." He said in a heavy German accent, before making his way out.

The room was silent, not what you'd expect, but it all set in after a few seconds, they were free to do whatever they want. Some students immediately made their way out and left, some talked to their friends as they too packed their bags. I look back to Rein who seemed to be also packing his bags.

"You have any plans later Rein?" I asked, hoping to atleast hang out with him after school.

"Sorry, I have to go, they're planning on a surprise birthday party for my sister, guess I won't miss out on the decorating after all." He said with a big grin on his face.

"Ah right, tell Ella I wish her a happy birthday!" He looked at me and nodded before making his way out."Guess I'll go home too." I said to myself
