Karan cried and cried at the burnt and bloody body of his dead children. Time went by and evening came along, but there was no end to his pain. He sat on the sand with his head bowed down as he could no longer see his children in that way. At last he took his kids' bodies out of the motorboat and had one last look at their unrecognizable faces and sent them into the ocean.
“I hope you will find peace at the bottom of the ocean, my sweet children.”
He went back to where his wife lied, and carefully sent her body into the ocean.
“I am sorry, my love.”
Deciding to end his life and join his family, he took the AK-47 in his hand.
What are you doing? Your family is still alive!
“What?” said Karan aloud.
They are waiting for you! It’s your daughter’s birthday, go home and don’t forget to get her the gift!
Karan walked into the coconut grove that was on the shore and continued on his path until he reached the highway. It wasn’t long before a car came on the highway and it wasn’t much difficult to get the driver to stop the car by using an AK-47.
Karan drove home and it was late evening when he reached.

Mohini, his pregnant wife, was waiting outside and was glad to see him.
“I thought you were going to be late. Gayatri is waiting for you.”
Karan felt happy to see his wife and entered the house to surprise his daughter. Somehow a gift box appeared in his hand and his daughter’s joy seemed to have no bounds to see her father holding a gift box.
Gayatri got busy unboxing the gift and was delighted that it was a beautiful doll. Mohini was in the kitchen busy preparing the cake. Karan went in to help her. They were almost done with the cake when the doorbell rang.
“It must be Arjun and his new girlfriend,” said Mohini.
Karan opened the door, and sure enough Mohini’s guess was correct. Karan welcomed them in. Arjun gave another gift box to Gayatri and she loved it. Arjun adored Gayatri and she loved him a lot.
Katrina went into the kitchen and very soon, Mohini and Katrina walked out with the cake. Gayatri was jumping with excitement. Soon, she cut the cake with Karan’s help and everybody sang the ‘Happy Birthday’ tune.
Arjun placed the camera on the stand and pressed the timer on and rushed back to be in the photo. The camera flashed as Karan held his daughter, with Mohini to his right, Arjun and Katrina to his right and the cake before them and a balloon in the shape of a first birthday behind them.
Karan and Arjun looked at the photo and were happy with the result. Karan looked at it carefully and realized that everything he ever wanted was in that picture.
“Let’s have a tasty dinner!,” said Mohini.
Karan went into the bathroom to clean himself from the cake so he can help his wife clean up the table. As he walked out, suddenly it was dark and all the chatter in the room and his daughter’s excited voice was absent.
There seemed to be nothing but darkness. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he saw a man climbing on the table and tying a rope to the fan. His back was facing Karan. He moved around so he could see who that man was but just before he could see that man’s face, light came back. The chatter of his best friend, and his wife filled the room again. His daughter was playing with Katrina and they all seemed very happy.
“What happened? You seem a bit dull,” asked Arjun.
Karan shrugged off that darkness and a man committing suicide in it and went back to enjoy the company of his family.
“Nothing, let’s have dinner,” said Karan as Mohini brought out the food.
They sat around the table and enjoyed the delicious food as they talked happily about Gayatri and the soon to be born second child of Karan.
Karan looked around the table at his smiling wife and kid. He looked at his wife’s bump and wondered how his second child would be like. He turned to look at his best friend Arjun and his new love. Karan felt content and thought that he had everything a man wants.
