Chapter 5

Things were good. Karan had apologized to his daughter and she was finally talking to him again. They were a happy family again. Karan’s other half hadn’t appeared in a while. As promised, Karan had brought his family on the vacation.

Karan had woken up early and was enjoying the sunrise from the balcony of his beach facing villa. The motorboat guy pulled up on the shore. Giri, the new chief of staff, walked toward the guy to greet him.

Mohini woke up and saw that Karan was already up and enjoying the morning sun and sea breeze. She walked over to him, gently kissed him on the cheek.

“We are taking that trip as soon as the kids wake up,” said Karan pointing to the motorboat on the shore.

Mohini was pleasantly surprised, “I didn’t know that was in the itinerary!”

“Yeah, Giri thought it would be fun to do and I felt the same.”

“I don’t like this new person, Giri. I don’t understand how you made him the chief of staff so quickly. I wanted Sudhama to still be here.”

Mohini went back in to freshen up, but what she said stuck in Karan’s mind. And his other self reappeared.

It’s very likely that Giri wants to take away everything from you. Why else would your wife not like him?

“She will get used to him in time,” said Karan in a low voice with gritted teeth, annoyed that his other self was back.

Listen to me! Your wife never says anything about your business choices, but if she is talking about it now, then there’s something seriously wrong with Giri.

Karan thought that his other self might be right, because Mohini never makes such comments. If she doesn’t like this new guy then maybe because he is a bad man who wants to take away everything from Karan.

Karan would never let that happen, so he went downstairs and found Rama already awake. Rama was a man in his fifties with a bald head and thick glasses.

“I have something important to discuss, come to the guest room,” said Karan.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Rama followed Karan into the guest room and eagerly waited to hear the important matter as Karan locked the room and spoke in hushed tone, “I have proof that Giri wants to kill me and take all my fortune. I need you to order the men to kill Giri.”

Rama was shocked, and he believed in Karan immediately as there was no reason to doubt him.

“This is a shock. I had no idea! But, Boss, five of the men are Giri’s men,” said Rama.

Karan had brought 10 men to protect him and his family. Karan hadn’t known that five of them were hired by Giri.

We need to kill those five people! Or else we have no way to survive!

“I know!” said Karan loudly, then realized that he had said it loudly. Rama seemed to be surprised at Karan’s statement. Karan had to go along with this, otherwise Rama would question Karan’s sanity.

“I mean, I know, so there are three things we need to do and all of this has to happen as quietly as possible,” said Karan.

Karan gave the plan to Rama. Even though Rama looked like a person who could be easily scared, Karan knew he could trust this man for this job.

They went out of the room, and Rama went to do his part of the job and Karan left for his part. Karan walked to the second floor and entered his room. The kids were still asleep on the bed, and Mohini was still bathing. The first thing he did was to get the gun and tuck it to the back of his pants and cover it with his shirt. He then walked over to the bathroom and asked, “Can you hear me?”

“Yes, what is it?”

“Don’t panic, and don’t ask any questions for now. I will be locking the room on the outside, I want you to lock the room from the inside and open the door only after I tell you to. Can you do that for me?” asked Karan.

Mohini was startled, and put a towel around her and walked out of the bathroom, “What is happening?”

“There’s no time to answer questions now.”

He didn’t wait as he knew she would have more questions, so he just walked out of the room and locked it on the outside. A few seconds later, he heard a lock on the inside too. Happy that his family would be safe as things unfold, he went downstairs and entered the kitchen. Picked up a knife and walked into the guest room quietly.

He had to rely on a knife for this as he didn’t want the gun sound to alert Giri’s men. He waited for Rama to complete his part and sat on the guest room’s bed.

A few minutes later, Rama walked into the room with Giri.

Giri asked, “Boss, Rama told me there is something important to discuss. Please tell me.”

Rama locked the door and got close to Giri as Karan stood up and inched closer to Giri.

Karan gave a nod, Rama jumped on Giri and with all his strength covered Giri’s mouth. Before Giri could react, Karan thrusted the knife into his heart. Giri’s eyes were wide with shock, as his body shook from the pain. Rama’s grip was tight, as Karan turned the knife for faster impact.

Giri was dead soon with a pool of blood over his shirt and all over Karan’s upper body. Giri’s body fell as Rama left him. Rama seemed to be in a shock as this was the first time he had seen someone die right in front of him.

“What about the third part of the plan?” asked Karan.

“Our five men have received orders to kill Giri’s men and the motorboat guy. It should be anytime not we should hear the gun sounds.”

“Good, you did well Rama. Thank you for saving me and my family.”

Rama nodded as Karan went into the guest bathroom to clean himself up. As he removed the shirt and poured water over his face to clean the blood, he heard a bunch of gunshots outside. It was very quick, there didn’t seem to be any battle. There were five shots in a matter of seconds, then a few seconds later there was the sixth shot.

Karan cleaned himself up and came out of the guest room without his shirt and a gun in his hand to ensure that all his enemies were dead. Rama confirmed that all of Giri’s men and the motorboat guy were killed.

Karan was happy to hear that.

Once again, we are saved! No one can take anything away from us.
