"Wait, what..." I mumbled to myself.
My entire squadron, and even my former captain Jack, turned to face towards me, who was standing among them, while wearing seemingly provoking smiles. Then, while still smiling, captain Jack shot towards me the words "Get moving", in a tone that sent shivers down my spine.
I then made my way towards the awaiting grey haired man, the king, while trying to get my act together.
Here I am, kneeling before the king, awaiting him to hand me my "respect". Who would have guessed that I, a commoner that happened to manage to be capable of leading a small, yet fairly accomplished cohort, would be knighted?
The king raised his prized black blade in preparation to knight me at last.
But as soon as his blade lightly tapped my shoulders, I felt a sharp pain, along with a bone chilling feeling spread throughout my entire body, though only for a short moment. I tried my best to keep my composure and keep calm, but something made my state of shock grow more dire: I glanced at the king's face briefly, and on his face, he also wore an expression of shock and surprise, before swiftly switching back to his usual calm yet stoic mask of a facial expression.
While several thoughts and questions flooded my mind, the king spoke at last:
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"I dub thee, Sir Kazimir. Now rise."
Then, he sheathed his blade, signifying the end of the knighting ceremony.
I forced a hollow smile onto my face, before dragging my legs back over to where my comrades were standing, many of which were giving me dung-eating grins.
"HAH! Good ol' Kaz ranked up from "dirty bastard" class all the way up to knight status!"
The rest of my men burst into howls of laughter. The king is right over there, you know? At least wait until the ceremony is over...
As I was walking over to teach the fool who said that a good lesson, I was stopped by two butlers who were each holding a cushion, each with an elegant blade on top. While presenting the two weapons to me, one of the two spoke in a soft tone:
"My lord has had the finest blacksmith of the land prepare this pair of blades for you, as a gift to honor your great deal of deeds that have contributed to our kingdom of Selria's victory. We do hope that they are to your liking, Sir Kazimir."
As I sheathed both blades, the pair of butlers each took a small bow then retreated.
But a dagger and a broadsword, huh? It would seem that their interest in me has grown to the point where I am being observed while I'm on the battlefield, so they have learned of the types of weapons I use for my fighting style.
-Then, after the ceremony wrapped up, and I saw my men off, I once again dragged my seemingly lifeless and exhausted body back to the guest room I was occupying, But as I reached for the door-
"Sir Kazimir."
I instinctively turned around swiftly, only for my eyes to meet yet again with Arthur's. He was fully clad in his armor, though he did not have his helmet on. He then drew his longsword and pointed the tip straight towards me-
"Sir Kazimir, in the name of my honor as a knight of Selria, I challenge you to a duel."
Damn it.
