CHAPTER 205
Um, well… He can be a bit temperamental, so I guess he can do that. Sebastian agreed to it, anyway. Still, she warned, "You can stay for a while if you want. You don't have to follow the rules too tightly, but don't try to cross Sebastian or his family!"
"I know," Luke said. "I won't do anything stupid, or that cunning little b*stard is gonna kick me out. I won't let him catch me."
"Don't call him that! He's Aldo and Buddy's father! You have to respect him!" content.
He seemed reluctant, so Madeline glared at him, and he relented. He waved her down. "Fine, fine. I'll do as you say, alright?"
"Don't do anything stupid, alright?" She pointed at him. "Step out of line and I'll ask Logan to take you away!"
"Yeah, yeah," Luke said. "I won't leave. I'm not letting Sebastian get his way. Don't worry. I won't do anything stupid, but I need to get a day off tomorrow. I have something to do."
Madeline frowned. "You're not even healed yet. You can't run around."
"I need to do this. It's super formal, super important stuff," he argued.
She shook her head. "Fine. Whatever." Yeah. As if he's gonna be my bodyguard for long. He's gonna feel bored in just a few days. I bet he'll leave without me even doing anything. They chatted for a long time, since this was the first time they had met in years. Before they knew it, school was already over for Quincy and Joel.
Conrad and Dean knocked on the door halfway through and asked Madeline if she was fine. They were worried about her, and Luke felt like punching them.
Madeline spent a long time just to calm him down, but he still looked sad. "You're my sister. I won't ever hurt you, even if that's the last thing I do. Why do they hate me so much?"
"Of course they don't like you." Madeline did not even comfort him. "You did try to hurt me once."
Luke had nothing to say to that, though his hatred against Angie mounted. If she had not complained about what Madeline did to her, he would never have hurt Madeline. It's all her fault! He asked her out to a coffee shop the next day. Um, well… He can be a bit temperamental, so I guess he can do that. Sebastian agreed to it, anyway. Still, she warned, "You can stay for a while if you want. You don't have to follow the rules too tightly, but don't try to cross Sebastian or his family!"
Angie came to the room on the second floor and knocked on the door, feeling nervous. Her life at the Colts was slowly turning into a living hell. She only managed to live her life in peace because she lied to Xander and Amelia. She told them Michael and Crystal still loved her, but that lie was busted when Amelia met the Wendel couple outside prison last time. After she found out they had cut all ties with her, her quality of life dipped.
Amelia would give her sass and call her all kinds of names. She moved her to the servant's room and ordered her around every day, as if she was her maid. Sometimes, she really wanted to leave that place, but she had no money. She used to have a few houses and shops under her name when she was with the Wendels, but after her past was exposed, Crystal got someone to change the name on her ID to 'Angie Colt'. It was just a slight change, but she lost ownership of all her houses and shops.
Angie had left the Wendel household in a hurry. Michael's bodyguards took her to Dusktown themselves, and she did not manage to take anything with her. All she had was a million dollars in her account. After she settled in with the Colts, she spent big money on new clothes and jewelry for herself, as well as presents for Xander's whole family. She wanted them to think the Wendels still cared about her. A million dollars might sound like a lot, but it only lasted Angie a short time. Now, she only had about a thousand left. She was almost at the end of the line, and she had to save.
She was out of money, and Xander's whole family ordered her around like she was their maid after they found out the Wendels had cut ties with her. Especially their children. Her life was worse than a maid's in that household. Angie wanted to escape and return to the Wendels. She wanted her old life back.
She came up with countless plans just so the Wendels would forgive her and take her back in, but she did not even have the chance to see them. Life tortured her so much, she was barely skin and bones. Every day was a struggle for her.
Luke called her just when she thought she had lost all hope. That call alone lit her soul up. She knew Luke way back when they were in Worrick.
Isabel looked down on Luke and his brother, as they were great friends with Madeline. She could not order them around like what she did to Madeline because they were not Taylors. Thanks to that, they were not exactly enemies, though of course they were not friends.
Unlike Isabel—the idiot crossed almost everyone she met—Angie cared about her public image. She even helped Luke out once when she saw him getting in trouble. Now that Luke was calling her, she had plans on cashing in the favor.
She and her friends were vacationing in Capitol a few months ago, and she bumped into Luke by chance in a jewellery shop.
He was in a completely different attire compared to the time they met in Worrick, but she recognized him right away. His looks were too outstanding for her not to. Even if he was in a big crowd, he would still be the center of everyone's attention. Nobody could forget about him once they had a look.
She ran into some trouble back then, and Luke settled it for her like it was nothing. She sent someone to look into him after he left. It was then she found out he was the young master of Capitol's richest family—the Adams. On top of that, he also built his own company, and it was called Microlutions Corporation. He's handsome and capable.
The one thing Angie loved most in life was being desired by rich guys. She wanted all the rich guys to fall for her even though she could only marry one man, and even though she would never even date anyone who had a lower social status than her. She loved being the center of everyone's attention and affection. She wanted Luke to fall for her, so she had used her connections and got his number. She then asked him out for a meal, saying she wanted to thank him for his help.
