Chapter 2

While Bo Ning was training in the Wind Dragon’s cavern, in the Bo Clan a storm was blowing as all the adults were trembling as they saw the state their founder was in.

“WHO!?” He said in a low deadly tone.

“F-father p-please calm down!” one of his three son’s said to try and calm down.

“I don’t want your trash mouths talking! Tell me who attacked Ning!?” He said.

Behind him was a cold eyed woman who showed no expression but looked at her husband and his two brothers. In her eyes was boundless killing intent while her body released a cold feeling and a small circle around her was frozen under ice from the leaking mana mixed with her highest affinity which was ice element.

“W-we checked with all the children!” One of the two other children of the founder said, “All of them saw Bo Ning enter his carriage.” he shouted.

“Where is the couchman!?” The founder shouted.

“Step father, please calm down, we can blow this out of proportions but it will do us no good.” The cold eyed woman said.

“I am really ashamed that someone so caring and beautiful had to marry my ungrateful son.” he said regretful.

“Father in law, do not worry, first we must think of it properly.” She said warmly talking to the elder, “Do you believe that besides someone from the sects could actually kill him? Simple beatings will just wound him a bit and even a fall of several hundred meters will injure but not kill him. That is how you trained him to be.” She said.

“Hmph… wait fall of several hundred meters…” The old man said and paled before his eyes looked to the west. “If he is alive and can name the bastards, I will destroy them without leaving a corpse!” The old man roared.

“F-father.” One of the three son’s of the man and husband of the woman called, “Why do you protect him so much?! He can’t cultivate and can’t even do anything!” The man asked.

“Why?” He asked back and sneered, “Because he is our clan’s greatest genius! You idiots don’t know anything but he has a unique constitution for a unique cultivation path! None of your talents put together will add up to even half of Ning’s!” He roared. “Why do you think I protected him so!? In 2 years the Geo Royal family would pass here once more for recruiting for the army and for their own personal family sect! You think they wouldn’t know what kind of special constitution he had!?”

This shocked everyone but they still wondered what the boy can even do when he has no Dantian but the old man shook his head towards such ignorant people. “Forget it, all of you scream and go search for Ning this instant! Until I see a corpse I will not believe he is dead!”

Kicking out all the members of his family except his favorite daughter in law, he sighed. “Little Rei, I am sorry I could not protect our little Ning.” He said.

“Father, there is no need for apology, we just need to find Ning and we will know who it is. If he is in the Nine Falls Canyon then maybe he will get some lucky encounter.” Bo Rei said.

The old man sighed, “As long as this old man breathes I will hunt down the mongrels that did this to my grandson and strangle them before chopping them into a thousand pieces!” He said.

For one week, Bo Ning remained inside the cavern and one floor by another he would absorb the knowledge inside those large stones and would meditate about an hour to make sure to memorize everything without letting anything slip.

Rabbit type, Fox type, bird type, fish type, all kinds of beasts were studied. The first floor had many stones on how to set up the meridian connections while the floors above had cultivation manuals and many notes about each creatures and how to raise them.

As for the little Flying Tiger Fish, it reacted strangely. When the meridians weren’t connected it was the size of Ning’s hand but when he did connect it would grow larger as the energy was spread out but would shrink once more. There were times it slept on his shoulder and he connects the meridians through the shoulder but it didn’t grow which he found strange but didn’t mind. He found some knowledge on this explaining that it was also part of the beasts nature to sleep in a comfortable size even connected while moving and fighting it would take an appropriate size as long as it grew to it.

The small size was to keep energy consumption to a minimum since they lacked meridians to supply their bodies with energy so what is cultivated eventually ends up helping them stay awake and moving while they sleep on the shoulders or being held while sleeping connected.

The top floors after the cultivation had few stones but it showed how to transmit thoughts, how to train your beast to use magic, and most importantly, the use of the Beast Seed. The beast seed can be used as a method to bind the beast to the rider as well as tap into it’s power. The seed contains the essence of the Dao Beast and by training the beast and themselves the rider will slowly unlock the powers of the beast and allow the rider themselves to use the innate abilities of their beasts which meant that after some time Ning can fly around himself.

The Rider growth system have a few stages, first is seed formation, this is the first level which is when they form the seed, by continuous training and study of the Dao Beast through cultivation and training Beast techniques which allow the rider and beast to attack together or separately, an understanding is formed and layers will form around the seed and mana, qi or any other energy the beast most survives from, will condense further.

This stage is incredibly long and most people will gain several beasts before the first seed reaches perfection.

Following the first seed forming, energy of any kind will start to gather around it. Slowly these energy will slowly form a foundation covering it and with the foundation of one forming it will slowly spread to the others speeding up the cultivation of them all as the necessary energy will be readily available when cultivating all the beasts.

As more seeds start to form a foundation it will speed up the solidification of the remaining seeds and make the foundation speed up even more becoming a vicious cycle. The result of this will obviously affect the beasts that are bound to each rider allowing them to push beyond their genetic limits. Riders are unique because they are people who can contract with any beast meaning even if they leave one area they can still find a nest with a Dao Beast from that region and bind it and cultivate it and new techniques allowing them to continue to absorb nature’s force and supplement the other beasts.

Among the top floor stones there were several techniques to use for attack which allow him to train element magic or techniques. Using the beast he can try to tap into the elemental affinity and use martial arts through the seed which is another capability of a rider who has binded with the Dao Beast.

After the foundation is eventually formed, the next stage is the further supply energy which will fall in the form of liquid on top of the foundation and slowly supplement the seeds until they sprout and once this happens the seeds will connect to the earth and grow to the heavens within the body of the Rider.

It is said that when the trees grow and pierce the heavens the Rider and all the beasts will undergo a quantitative evolution were all the trees will breach the heaven with the energy of the heavens and the earth and it will cause all of them to ascend into a higher realm.

When he had finished every last stone, as if knowing, the Wind Dragon walked in and called him.

“Good, I have finally found someone to pass this knowledge. Do not easily relinquish this knowledge to others, although you will only have what can help you form the seeds and foundation you need to be careful since these are very important just like those of later levels. You will only encounter the later stages in human sects. Be careful as humans can very easily be more vicious than beasts.” She said.

“I already know. The first thing I need to do is make myself stronger and then make those who have smited me feel pain first as for reaching those big sects… I think grandfather may know something.” He said.

Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.

“Do not provoke those you should not without support. A strong backing is just as good as your own strength but your own strength is the best guarantee to keep your life. If you even need a Dao Beast you will not need to worry. Simply release your aura and even the most aggressive beast will be calm around you as many beasts birth Dao Beasts and a Rider is an excellent opportunity to see their children get a grand opportunity.” She said.

“I understand. Will you take me home now or will it be the little dragons?” He asked.

“I shall take you to the road, I do not wish to expose myself openly because dragons are a prime hunting target for mindless hunters. Here…” She said and removed a feather cloak allowing the young boy to cover himself. “This should be good cover for you. I have used some magic to hide the material and once you place it on it will look like an old wore leather cloak.” She said.

Ning took it and as he put it on it indeed transform to look like an old cloak yet he couldn’t help feel safe. “These are your feathers?” He asked.

“Yes, it is a gift and it can provide you with some protection. Without someone being in either the Grand Dan, Qi Dan or Great Demon Stage, they won’t be able to notice anything wrong with this cloak.” the dragon said and stretched her claw out and gripped him which startles the boy but she simply dropped him onto her back and turned around.

She growled something to the little dragons and walked rapidly through the cavern and reached an open forest rapidly before spreading her wings. Ning’s eyes were wide as oranges as he saw the extent of the Wind Dragon and felt a foreboding feeling as he gripped her feathers tightly. The little flying fish quickly wrapped its body around his neck like a small snake as it felt like him. With one flap of her wings the massive several tens of tons of powerful muscles lifted into the air and with another she rose faster.

Unlike he expected, wind did not blow hard on him but he soon saw that it was because of a wind barrier. After a few flaps they had reached the clouds and she began to circle around as she got her bearings before she lifted above the clouds and released a roar that resounded throughout the entire canyon.

Finally she broke through the clouds and overlooked the large cliff that he fell from and she was rapidly rising. After a few flaps the massive body rose while Ning was firmly holding on and finally over it she leveled out and giggled as she looked at the boy whose eyes were sparkling.

In his mind he was saying, “This is so amazing! Does this mean I can raise this little guy to do stuff just like this!” He thought.

He gleefully experienced this once in a lifetime experience that few will ever get the joy of feeling. Sadly all things come to an end especially in regards to a dragon’s flight speed.

She landed several hundred meters from the road and Bo Ning quickly slid down.

“Take care now child.” She said simply before flapping and taking off just like that.

He watched her rapidly vanish and only after she was gone he turned and ran to the road while covering his face. His body was bursting with energy so as he reached the road he turned towards the Noble’s district and began to walk, than jog before bursting into a full on sprint.

Qi flooded his entire body, his muscles were more springy, powerful and full of strength. Three bounds and he covered a hundred meters. This kind of feeling only cultivators of Qi or Internal energy could feel. Even Magi who cultivate mana can do this by training body techniques or using magic to boost their powers.

In a short while he reached the paved roads of the Noble district and slowed down before reducing to a simple walk but this simple walk was one step covering several meters.

Soon enough he reached the western edge and stopped in front of the Bo Clan gates were two weak guards stood in place blocking him.

“Halt! Who are you!?” One of them shouted.

Ning just throw the hood back and exposed his face.

The expression on their faces showed shock followed by a mix of disdain, anger, and disbelief.

Bo Ning glared at them with eyes filled with hate since the guards always make it hard on him. “Move, I want to go to my room, change my clothing then see my mother and Grandfather.” Ning said not concealing his rage and hate of this place.

He simply walked forward and kicked the gate and to the utter shock of the two guards the gate burst open causing the two guards to jump out of the way shaking.

Bo Ning didn’t even look back but he looked at the gate and smiled as he saw a faint footprint which showed his greater strength now. It was extremely satisfying to see his strength had finally taken a step forward and he was a Qi cultivator but there was no way he would stop. The entire world had several kids of energy and just this region had three if not counting Spiritual power which is a mysterious energy. Who knew if there were creatures that grew by training that.

Still his first objective was simply to catch up to his family and grow his little Flying Tiger Fish. If he wanted to grow strong it was only through this little guy.

As he walked inside there was a sudden rush of people coming out and even the founder, Bo Gu rushed out. “WHO DARES INTRUDE IN MY BO CLAN!?” He roared. When he saw Bo Ning, he froze. After a long moment he realized this wasn’t a mirage and slowly his eyes was covered with a small mist and he suddenly rushed over and gripped the boy’s shoulders. Feeling the solid contact with the boy he felt utter joy. “AHAHAH! My boy you came back with your own two feet!” he roared laughing and picked the boy up and tossed him before catching and putting him down.

All the family members and hired hands were in shock. It was at this moment that the little Flying Fish flew out and hissed at the old man due to its unsatisfying treatment of being suddenly tossed up.

“This… this is a Flying Tiger Fish!” He said and looked at the little boy. He extended his senses over the boy and when he suddenly felt a large presence of Qi where the boy’s dantian was located he didn’t say anything and gripped the boy’s hand and sent his senses with even more precision into Bo Ning’s body and soon found the Beast Seed.

An expression of glee appeared in the old man’s eyes as he realized what this was. Having met one such person who showed him what kind of cultivation methods they studied he knew this was a Beast Seed and looked up at the flying fish.

He quickly snuffed his emotions turned around pulling the boy.

“Come with me, you all disperse! There is nothing else to see. I don’t need nosy unworthy people hearing me. Someone call Little Rei so she can be reunited with her son!” Bo Gu roared.

Everyone quickly dispersed but some people still looked back, they sneered at the boy and watched as he was dragged away.

“G-grandfather… can I please go take a bath and change… i…” He blushed as he started to say.

The old man looked back and examined the boy, “You don’t seem dirty.” He said.

Looking around Bo Ning held the bottom tight from the inside and exposed his naked chest and the old man slowly realized the situation and nodded. He lead the boy to his room quickly allowing the boy to put on a set of robes. Indeed he wasn’t dirty so he simply put on a set of robes for use at home and carefully stored the old robe. He told his grandfather that no one is to touch that old robe because it was an expert that saved him and gave him that and it was some kind of rare item but he didn’t understand it.

He obviously kept the details on raps but he knew his grandfather wouldn’t desire what is his and instead would make another excuse to protect that thing.

BANG!

Just as they were about to leave the door suddenly flung open and Bo Rei rushed in hugging the boy so hard that his face was buried in her breasts while she swung him around in her fierce grip. “AH! My baby is back!!!” She shouted crying in joy.

“Little Rei, you shouldn’t squeeze him so much, besides hurting him, you are suffocating him.” Bo Gu said.

Once she realized she was hurting him she let go quickly, “Ning! Mama is sorry! Did I hurt you!?” She shouted but she found that Ning was hugging her back strongly. He lifted his head looking up, “Nope, that didn’t hurt because I’m strong now!” He said with a cheeky smile.

At this moment the little flying fish flew in front of her and she looked at it slowly and then looked at her father in law who was grinning like an idiot, she slowly realized what was happening and soon she began to cry as she hugged him again with joy.

After letting her vent, the three sat down and talked a bit. Since most of the clan already knew about his returning, the school would probably learn about it as well so after a bit of discussing they decided to postpone for about a week his return to school and have him train as much as possible and get him to start on basic martial arts he could probably used for close combat to utilize the large amount of strength he gained.

The two tested his strength, Qi is measured in Body Foundation, which ever energy type does, Qi Refining stage, Houtian, Xiantian, Heavenly Dan follows where the Qi forms a compressed ball, Nascent Spirit where the dan breaks like an egg forming a heavenly spirit, Saint spirit and finally ascension where the cultivator will ascend to a higher realm. All realms have 4 levels, Initial, Low success, High Success, Perfection.

After some trial and error, as well as connecting to Tora, the Flying Tiger Fish, they found that the two were at the peak of Low success for Qi refining. This was a direct result of the immense power this little guy had stored inside himself and was refined into the Beast Seed. It was found that unless they were connected neither could do anything with the Qi but with Tora on his shoulder Ning could access the Qi inside the little fish naturally as if his own through the connection they hold.

With this he was even able to learn martial arts techniques for the Qi refining stage that require the use of Qi to train and fight.

It was also here that Ning’s talent were clearly shown as Bo Gu had shouted at his family. Ning has a very high talent for memorizing and learning things. Although he is young, his ability to properly memorize something is quite incredible and within one week he already has the basic steps for the martial arts that focus on wind element which is gentle but hard. Flow like the wind but hit like a storm, is what the move pertains to. It is unlike those of water element which use soft to fight hard, take the enemy's energy and use it against them. This one will gently flow like the wind allowing the overflowing energy of the enemy push you out of the way opening the way to your own attack.

With the very basics passed it would only take practicing and real combat to master the martial arts and so returning to school one week after coming back alive from what most would consider almost certain death it was time for Ning to show all those who mistreated him the meaning of pain.
