Eric sighted the roaring minotaurs from the keep top while slowly increasing the tension in the limbs of his bow, his crimson orb now hovering over the opposite shoulder to the one his beloved BunBun favored. He whispered a silent prayer for her safety, as unlikely as he knew that was… before clearing his mind of all thought save the battle about to commence, locking gazes with the closest roaring minotaur charging the keep, clearly not giving a shit about Eric’s fire-essence reinforced spike defense.
Instead of cocky disdain, Eric felt growing unease. These creatures were level sixty and that rank alone made Eric respect them. If they were charging… they had a reason to be confident.

Eric cursed under his breath, but knew he didn’t have time to fuck around and be cute with his skills when death was literally seconds away from charging into them.
“Eric!” Jack’s voice took on fresh urgency, standing as he was just a few feet to Eric’s left as he peered over the side of the crenelated parapet, a wide-eyed Emily just feet behind them. Richard, Ron, and Steve were all inside, getting the rest they desperately needed, Eric recalling Richard’s earlier pained request.
“Can I count on you to keep those minotaurs in check for a short nap, Eric? It would mean a hell of a lot to all of us.” Eric had smiled and nodded, earning a relieved grin in turn. “Thanks, Jack. I knew I could count on you.” Eric had nodded, before looking in the direction of a glaring Ron who had immediately claimed a room and stomped inside without so much as a farewell wave to any of them.
“You’re good people, Eric. None of us doubt that. It’s just been a really, really long day. For all of us,” Rich had said, patting him on the shoulder of his crimson scale armor.
Eric had just smiled, dipping his head and quickly making his way to the roof, with an excited Jack and anxious Emily in tow. Because there had been a hell of a lot to say about Ron’s behavior, yet Social Perception made it clear that if he wanted any chance at all of making some genuine friends who weren’t tied to his mother’s coat strings, then he dare not risk antagonizing whatever bonds the six of them had. No, he had thought. He’d let Ron dig his own grave.
Eric was just happy to be on the roof, away from the man.
Even if that meant accepting the limits of his bow perks and the need to use them in tandem, paying twice the cost that he otherwise would. Of course the beauty of his Soul Reserves was that the expenditure was based on weight alone. So when he sighted the minotaur now bellowing into a charge and the distance between them telescoped in such a way that the minotaur now seemed just inches away as the thick wall of air faded to the void, it only cost him only a single point of Soul Reserves to let loose the crack and thrum that presaged the minotaur stumbling forward with a surprised bellow, crashing to the ground with death’s furious ember blazing in its eye.
Of course the sixtieth-level monstrosity thrashed and bellowed against its fate, as eternal heat inspired by the very essence of flame battled against the creature’s monstrous resilience before Eric’s critical hit forced the minotaur to surrender to the inevitable.
A loud pop echoed through the cavern as the lead minotaur’s skull exploded, spraying the area with superheated brain, blood, and gristle as the creature collapsed to the ground, tripping the minotaur just behind it.

“Nice shot!” Jack hooted. “Now it’s my turn for gold and glory!”
Jack twisted his hips and snapped forward with a javelin that hummed with so much potency that it blazed like a heat seeking missile to Eric’s Arcane Perception, streaking forth not in an arc but a straight-line shot that blasted right through the chest of a second minotaur now gazing down at the spurting hole in it’s chest with surprise before stumbling to the ground in a heap.
It struggled to rise on shaky limbs before being knocked over by the minotaur just behind it, the pair of bellowing creatures reduced to surprised bleats, such that only one minotaur made it through.
Eric whistled, truly impressed. As far as he was concerned, Jack wasn’t launching pointy sticks so much as firing precision artillery, with devastating results.
“Fuck! I couldn’t get off my ice in time!” Elaine cursed, before being sent flying off her feat as the entire structure shook.
“The fucker just leaped when he charged! He leaped over my spikes! The fucking fucker!” Eric shouted in dismay.
He then turned to meet Jack’s wide-eyed look of dismay. “It’s okay,” he assured. “Shit-for-brains didn’t break through” He flashed a bleak smile. “Three very potency-intensive runes in a work of flesh sculpting that’s strong as fuck, all of it braced with a convex curve that will be damn hart to counter...”
Eric winced, hearing the crack of masonry on the far side of the structure.
“Unless it carries the force through the entire tower,” he said with a pained grimace, before snapping back into focus, peering over the lip of the tower, knowing there was absolutely no time to waste.
His position was absolutely terrible for shooting straight down with his bow at the pair of fuckers now tried to scale it, and Jack’s cursing made it clear that as much as the high ground was a super win for him, throwing 90 degrees straight down wouldn’t be perfect either.
“Shit, their climbing the walls!” Jack screached.
“Cover your ears!” Eric shouted, before responding with the best attack he could think of. Perfect for this situation that gave almost no magic or cultivation tells, and best of all, assuming they really could complete this dungeon without risking multiple casualties… he could make use of one of the very few methods available to him to boost a stat that not even his Master Class would let him put points into.
Only with earned titles or dungeon completions could he hope to raise a stat that normally represented the Achilles heel of his race… The Sylvan half, anyway. And he definitely wanted a much bigger stat if he were ever to achieve outer world titles that could truly make him a force to be reckoned with along Psionic paths that made him shiver with sand dune excitement.
He glared down at the minotaurs which had already gotten far too close for comfort as Elaine screamed, the air suddenly filled with icy splendor in the form of a half dozen massive icicles slamming down into the closest minotaur and knocking it right off the tower.
Even if only one of them had pierced deep enough to draw the tiniest trickle of blood.
The minotaur who laughed off the icicles just dug monstrously powerful hands into Eric’s bone and hide reinforced wall that was far too effective at climbing, then flashed Eric a far too knowing smirk as he began scaling once more.
“Fragor!” Eric roared, both reveling in and hating the ice cold shiver and nauseating lurch he experienced, daring to use a power so alien to his bloodlines. Powers he knew he’d have to practice with every damn day, if he didn’t want whatever weird synaptic connections existed between himself and the most unlikely of abilities to rapidly fade to a half-remembered dream a part of him was eager never to experience again.

Eric’s gaze narrowed. Just how fucking tough was this thing? He’d killed High level 60s with just two applications!
He glared at the minotaur, forcing himself to focus, to build up his concentration, his furious hate, to remember the shivering icy cold sensation of spearing and RUPTURING his foe’s mind with will alone.
The minotaur bellowed, glaring at Eric in oddly sapient challenge, now scaling as fast as it could, battleaxe gripped in its mouth.
“Fragor.”
It wasn’t a shout, it was a whisper.
A whisper that shivered through the bones of everyone present, earning a surprised cry from Emily and a startled curse from Jack.
A shiver in the bones that built up to a furious crescendo of destructive power designed to sheer the links between body and soul by tearing the mind completely free to glorious explosive effect.

Eric shivered, eyes widening in sudden epiphany. Sensing for just a heartbeat the potential of this odd fusion of Psionics, Magic, and Spiritual Energy synergistically channeled through the gauntlet of Runic Spell forging.
The absolute farthest thing from any clean psionic kill.
And more than enough to send the minotaur crashing to the ground, it’s skull exploding in bone fragments and crimson paste.
“Eric, what the fuck!?” Jack said, pasty-faced and lurching back, blood trickling from his eye as the final minotaur climbed over the ledge of the fort.
Emily looked green around the gills, doing all she could to avoid vomiting, unable even to lift her head up, it seemed.
Eric met a panicked, furious Jack’s gaze. “Close your fucking eyes right now!”
More by surprised reflex than anything else, Jack did just that.
And that’s when Eric struck.
Fire Fist!
The minotaur, just seconds away from leaping over the parapet had only a split second to look Eric’s way with malicious amusement before feeling the effects of Eric’s overhand cross.
It was a blow that hit with far more force than his superhuman physique would indicate, even if thrown by an Olympian boxer. Because a Gold medalist might, conceivably, achieve 20 Quickness, with finesse to match for the perfect punch.
With 265 Strength, over 13 times what any human who had ever lived could claim, the blow should have been beyond devastating. But when Olympian Quickness shot up to over 15 times what any Gold medalist could dream of, that alone equated to a 225 fold increase in power above and beyond what any monstrous 265 strength could generate with Gold medalist speed alone, and it was only his Speed Racer perk, mitigating inertia, at least somewhat, that kept him from cracking the keep tiles under his feet with the power of his strike.
So it was no surprise that even the minotaur’s rib cage shattered under the force of Eric’s blow, sending shotgun bone fragments tearing through the creature’s heart, lungs, and liver, just a split second before the entirety of the massive beast’s rib cage was filled with white hot flame.
The creature didn’t even have time to blink before it erupted in a catastrophic explosion of bone shrapnel and gore, and it was only the sheer power behind Eric’s blow that had the fire, blood and shrapnel spraying away from Eric’s two companions, who had both stumbled to the ground.
Jack gazed up with an awed curse, eyes now open to glare at Eric with suspicion and wonder, Emily curled in a ball, leaking tears as she sobbed and groaned with discomfort.

Eric flashed a fierce, satisfied smile. A quick look made it clear that, for the moment, they were free of hostile foes. So before more shit came their way, or Ron could burst out of the rooftop hatch and start screaming and cursing at Eric for not killing their enemies quieter, he took a long look at his character sheet, appreciating just how far he had come, and why his enemies were all so desperate to kill him.
His spirit was filled with an odd mixture of fierce satisfaction and the bitter rue of knowing he had once again managed to play the jester for his mother’s amusement. But all that aside, he could still take fierce satisfaction in how well the twin crucibles of pain and peril were forging him, promising himself that he’d never again play the selfless hero if gratitude was a sucker’s bet, and more powerful players than him were constantly pulling the strings. Because if it were otherwise, if he truly did have autonomy and free will and had been thinking with a clear head, then why the hell hadn’t he even bothered studying for himself the movement technique he had worked so hard to claim? Instead, he had spent every waking moment teaching his would-be wives… his mother’s pawns, how to master cultivation affinities and themselves while ignoring his own needs altogether.
He shuddered in self-disgust, wondering just how fucked in the head he had been, thinking he had actually been in control of anything… until that mithril collar had snapped about his neck and he finally woke up to just how penniless, and fucked, he truly was.
On the other hand, what the fuck did he expect? He had been matching wills not with a ninetieth level genius, or a Bronze titan beyond any human Classer, but a Silver-tier Empress who could slaughter Bronze titans by the score, with thousands of years of experience, and a dozen worlds under her rule.
A woman so tied to fey magics and ancient legends that mastering the minds of mortal men was child’s play.
And she was his mother.
How the fuck did he think he’d ever get the best of a fairy queen who he owed his very existence to?
He shook his head with a rueful chuckle.
Because none of that bullshit detracted from just how far he had come, in less than a year’s time.

For having forged yourself in a high gravity field with thicker than normal air pressure, while harmonizing yourself with the spiritual essence of Wind and Gravity, you have learned how to instinctively maneuver yourself without being overly hindered by wind resistance or air pressure at all! You additionally have limited ability to manipulate the g-forces inertia places upon your form!
You may now race across any Terrain in Terra or any of its pocket realms with only 1/(Runic Spell Mastery Skill Level) the normal degree of air resistance! A speed-modified skill check will also allow you to redirect your own inertia! Pivot on a dime, with your original momentum intact!
*Note! This boon applies to you (and your familiar, an extension of yourself) alone. This boon will have NO effect on Revenants effected by the Death March Necromancer Perk!
