A two head monstrosity around 20 feet tall was chasing after the truck. Jim put the pedal to the metal but his truck was old like really really old. Its top speed was only around 45 mph on a good day. I was the first to see the monster as Wayne was fast a sleep and that’s when we hit the pot hole. Wayne was asleep and was not holding on to anything, the tail gate popped open and Wayne slide out right in front of the troll. I tried to get Jim to stop but he couldn’t or wouldn’t hear me. Liam looks uncomfortable and melancholy as he tells this part of the story.
Jack takes a break and looks up to see it is 11:30 am and hears his stomachs gurgle. ARS 29 how interesting. Many creatures were described by people who escaped the barrier and all of them fantastical in nature. At first scientist believed that it was just mass hysteria as there wasn’t any evidence initial, till a week after the barrier crashed down they found what looked to be a dire wolf up in South Dakota. After that several more anomalies appeared, many died before the ARO could get to them, elves, wolf folk, dwarves and other less corporeal beings were found some as corpses. And then some humans began to escape the barrier. Jack begins to reminisce about the past while walking to the coffee stand down in the lobby. He sees Daryl sitting in the dinning area and gives a wave. “Hey Daryl” Jack says, Daryl waves back, his mouth is full with what looks like a breakfast sandwich which he quickly puts down. “How are you doing this morning?” Daryl questions Jack, as he walks to the counter to order a large cup of black coffee. Which the barista quickly produces and hands to Jack. “It’s going” Jack says with a sigh sliding into the chair across from Daryl. “I got assigned a new ARS today”. “Oh, what do you know so far” Daryl asks. “Honestly not much I got through the first set of interviews with those he has encounter but I don’t know much else yet, and as you know they won’t give us a personal file on the ARS pre-barrier until we have gone over all of the relevant data post-barrier” Jack says with a sigh. “You know they do that so we don’t go in with any preconceived notions about the subject. Some aren’t human anymore and going in with that assumption can be dangerous” Daryl responds. “I am aware of incident 851, you don’t need to remind me” Jack says a solemn look appearing across his face. “That was a bad day” Daryl says. Jack snorts “that’s and understatement, but let’s not dwell on the past. How is your case going?” Jack asks Daryl. With a deep sigh Daryl begins. “It’s as painful as ever, attempting to prove together what the subject is trying to convey is a long and painful process. I have some of the best linguists in the department helping me but without a Rosette stone to help with the translation it’s like pulling teeth. Hell when we think we finally have the correct translation we get thrown a curveball and almost have to restart the whole process” Daryl rambles looking dismayed. “Well hey at least you are learning all of the wrong ways to translate the language”. Jack jokes. Daryl looking unamused stands up and with a deep sigh says “Welp I better get back to it”. “Good luck breaking that brick wall with your forehead Daryl” Jack says as Daryl walks away. Daryl gives Jack a single finger goodbye before heading back to his office. “I better do the same” Jack says to himself as he walks back to his office with his half finished coffee.

“Alright on to the next file” Jack boots up his computer and opens up the next file of ARS 29. Jack has a transcript of the conversation on his desk as well. The video is dated 3 months after the barrier came down. It starts and shows a man dressed in military fatigues that have been torn up. Wound dressing cover much of the open flesh, his eyes are brown his hair blonde. He looks to be around 28 years of age. “State you name and rank soldier” says a voice off screen. “My name is private 1st class Jessy Mcallie”. “Good” the voice of screen states. “Please tell us about what happened to you in the last 3 months private”. Jess looks to the voice confused “Don’t you mean 6 months sir?” Jess asks confusion clear on his face. “If I wanted to know what you were doing for the last 3 months then I would have asked private”. The voice snarls at Jessy, who is not cowled by the response. “3 months ago sir I was overseeing training of the militia sir as we had started building up a fighting force capable of defending a small town renamed AnyPort” private Jessy rattles off. “I am surprised that the army was so willing to create a militia right after the barrier fell”. The voice off screen says, as a puzzled expression comes across Jessy’s face. “You look like a fresh recruit in front of a drill sergeant, say what you want to say private”. The voice of screen announces. “Sir, 3 months after the barrier fell is when we began training the militia”, “That’s what I asked you about” growls the voice off screen. “Sir, you asked me what I was going 3 months ago, I just said that 3 months ago we began training militia” the private responds coolly. “I know what I asked you private” tells the voice off screen. “Sir, it’s been 6 months since the barrier fell sir” responds the private. “Are you messing with me private” the voice off screen says in a voice glacial cold. “No, no sir” the private quickly sputters. “I am telling you sir that the barrier fell 6 months ago” says the private. “Send in the egg heads” says the voice off screen.
