"Okay, inspection done and I have an understanding." I said as I laid a large sheet of paper on the hood. I sketched a circle at the top then layered eleven houses within.
I placed two large rectangles right outside the gate. Followed by four squares on both sides of the road.
"What is this supposed to be?" Scarlett asked as she pushed her camera in.
"Shoo shoo." Tyler said as he made a little room.
"The two big bricks are stores. Grocery and other goods. The four small blocks are a refinery of some kind. After all, we don't have a system to extract minerals and turn out things like hoes, shovels, and shit." I said.
"Yeah, finding people who know basic skills like that will be harder than finding someone who uses the automated process." Arthut said as I drew out what our village would turn out to be.
"How do you plan to get the materials for this?" Amala added in.
"There is a kid that can deconstruct finished products. I planned to use him to get raw materials and it's not hard to put up a building.." I was interrupted by the sounds of a horn.
Four cars were being chased right outside our boundary by eight humvees with mounted guns. I raised my hand as I walked forward. I was curious if they would stop or choose to die.
The front car slowed down visibly and stopped inches from my hand. The other three curved off to the side but also stopped. The humvees looked as if they were about to revv up and check the bottom line but they came to a graceful stop. Several men hop out and raise their guns. Followed by two pricks in suits who looked as if they hadn't had enough things to do in their life.
The four car doors opened and women swarmed out like a bad porno. If I hadn't seen Layla or Sophie, I might have thought this was a bad plot device that would challenge my authority in being a fair, impartial leader.
"Kaden! Thank God we made it!" Layla said.
"I don't know why you are thanking god. I never said I would play hero." I turned away from her and looked at Demi. "So why are you running away from your friends?"
Demi pointed at Layla, "we were leaving and Layla decided to hide in the trunk with some stolen tech. Apparently they are using people with intel powers to research powers and how to synthesize them."
I glanced at the two suits who walked up. "So, it's just her? Then why didn't you kick her out the car?"
Demi rolled her eyes, "it could also be because we took an inventor and few researchers from their main base." She gestured at the five women in trench coats behind them.
I scratched my head, "so you want to seek asylum with me? I mean, if you went to the walkers area. They would have wiped the floor with your pursuers than sold you to me."
Demi scratched her head, "if I knew that, I would have done it but unlike you. We aren't buddies with the enemies."
I shrugged, "no such thing as enemies but interests. Okay, enough joking around, what do you expect from me and what are you giving me?"
Layla huffed, "why does everything have to be benefits with you?"
"Says the one who wanted power and then sold it to the guys you are running from." I shot back.
"We can pay in military grade equipment for them back." One of the suits said.
Sophie put a hand on my shoulder and whispered in my ear. "You can have me for my sister and the girls with guns in hand can work as guards. You don't even have to keep me in the same house. Just come to me when you need to vent."
Sophie was originally not that attractive in the face. Her body was on the mark of fuckable but not marriage material. But now, she would stand at the top of the world as a model or trophy wife. There were some women who were just beautiful that you no longer describe them as so but have those thoughts like, dream idol who I nutted on her picture like seven times.
So I'm not going to lie, she tempted me greatly.
"We can take the ones with guns. They all feel awaken and stand like they have some training." Arthur said as he interrupted my fantasy.
"I agree, they can join the guards. The researchers are good as well unless they are going to say something like save my family. In which case, they need to return to the guys who have them. This isn't mission impossible." I rapidly agreed.
This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work.
Sophie let out a giggle that raised my hair as she and her girls walked behind us. Only three of the white coats walked behind me. Leaving three women and a teenage girl but that was me assuming age.
Layla raised her hand and waved. "Umm, what about me? I'm coming with goods!"
Arthur shook his head, "you are coming with goods that can't be used. We don't have the team or equipment to research it. Thus it's useless. Second, we can pretty much guarantee an awakening without unknown vials. You should hand it over and then we can take you but if you keep it then the gentlemen here can take you down. Doesn't matter to us."
Tyler added in, "I think you also forgot that the military currently has things we need. Thus we aren't going to fight over things we don't. Definitely considering that they will need a specialized team of awakeners that isn't theirs to handle tough missions. After all, we can see from our pal, forgotten, how bad they are losing."
The suit's eyes widened at that and they seemed to break out into smiles.
The last researcher waved her hand, "they don't have my son but a local gang in the city does. They promised to help but still haven't upheld their word. I.."
Arthur waved her down, "we aren't a charity group and honestly, we don't need your type of researcher at the point. Look behind me? Does this look like a fortified base with top grade medical equipment?"
The woman lowered her head, "i-i.."
Sighing, "lady… you should go back. We aren't even in the big city and thus have no reason to show up to compete with a small gang." I turned the suits, "give me those two mounted guns and you can have these three back."
The suits looked stunned but they waved their hands. "About what the skinny blonde said. Are you.."
Arthur held up his hand, "you don't have the authority to make the kind of decisions that this would require. Put it like this, there are several types of awakeners but the walkers named them simply. Grunt, brute, baron, Duke, and King. We have three king levels and rest between barons and Duke. This is enough to raid your base."
The suits looked at each other as their men brought over the machine guns. Layla stomped her feet and retrieved the chest from the trunk of a car.
"There! Now can we seek asylum?" Layla threw the case at the suits and shouted at us.
Arthur looked at me and I looked at him. It was Amala who pulled her in. I mean, Layla wasn't all that valuable.
One of the suits wanted to wave off one of the machine guns but I snatched both of them.
"Woah, there fellow. These babies are for the white coat. Layla and her daughter weren't even a part of the price. It was like buy one get one free. I mean, shit. What is she even good for? You can at least put something in her but is that really needed? As for the kid? You can't even do anything with her without being judged by your conscience and fellow peers. Worthless by all accounts." Arthur threw in as he took the same step I did.
The suits look as if they wanted to laugh and cry. They just man up and took the white coat back and left.
I turned back to my cart and placed the saw inside.
"This was a pretty good day. We got two saws and six trained awakeners. Think we can start an all female squad. Talk about morale." Arthur whistled after speaking.
Tyler shook his head, "don't think we didn't hear what Sophie said. I dare you to touch her when I can't. I'll snitch so fast your head will spin."
Jacob grunted in agreement.
I looked at all the guys who turned against me. "By damn! How dare you defame me as such! I would never dishonor my marriage with izzy!" I lowered my voice, "you guys can share Layla. Don't be such rude cunts."
Arthur scoffed but then whispered as Layla glared at us. "Sophie, don't you think I'm better looking than him? I'm pretty sure I'm bigger too."
Sophie rolled her eyes until I dropped my pants.
"How dare you throw shots at my dignity. Who is bigger? This is an all-man with the touch of the mighty Lion king. Take that boy wonder shit on somewhere." I pushed out my hips as I stood proudly.
Jacob slapped his forehead, "children."
Arthur dropped his pants right after. "Be the judge! I can't allow this man to slander the gift from god."
Scarlett lowered her camera but not her eyes. Amala was honestly comparing. Demi was the one who pronounced the winner.
"You are both the same length but Kaden is wider but I think he has a shape-shifting form. So it is kind of cheating." Demi said as she came close to studying.
Sophie rolled her eyes, "men are such dogs."
"I'm a cat! How dare you call me a mutt." I threw her over my shoulder and ran two steps. "To the dungeon with you."
Tyler yelled, "snitching!"
I took two steps back and sat Sophie down. Fixing her dress and even out the wrinkles.
"Sorry, I got carried away." Everybody gave me a look and I lowered my head as I went back to sketching my city blueprint.
One of the white coats asked, "are they always like this?"
Amala nodded, "farming mellow them out from stress out killers to this. Well, that and their wives."
Scarlett just stood back smiling.
Demi thumped my arm as she leaned over the hood. "We could use some rest. Where should we lodge?"
I gestured around. "Any of these houses are open. If you are hungry, talk with Tyler to get some coupons. Then you can trade it for food."
Demi nodded and the five girls just walked to a random one. The white coats followed leaving me with Demi which was fine. Her nerdy look wasn't bad and I could see a layer of muscle from her slightest movement. Added, she wasn't bad to begin with.
"Thanks again for saving us but I would like to make a small request." Demi said with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
I lifted my head and stared into her Grey eyes. "What is that?"
"I can help you with your currency problem but I would like to stay in your house." Demi said and Tyler came sliding over.
"Keep going. Just recording this for future blackmail." Tyler said quickly.
"Don't be vulgar. His house will be the safest and plus he will have pc parts that I can use to build a network for virtual currency. Which can be used on a phone. So you won't have to do this silly coupon thing." Demi said.
We all looked at her like a goddess.
"Good things do fall from heaven." Arthur said as he kept looking upward.
"Sure, sit in the cart. Jacob, sorry but you have to walk home." I said as I turned to Jacob.
He looked at demi then me then flipped me off. "I'm snitching."
I turned to Amala. "Sorry, you have to walk home."
She rolled her eyes and pointed at the street. "If you guys keep this bullshit up. We won't make it on time to get this wall up."
Oh, yeah. I forgot about that.
My cane flew into my palm and I turned to Jacob who was already raising the ground. It looks like a horn pushing at the ground. Ugly and lazy approach.
Me, I made the ground flow upward like silk. A beautiful tower formed with a double entry way. A wall formed off that for ten meters in length and ten high.
I wiped the sweat off my forehead and turned to Jacob's little tower. He looked at mine and grunted.
"You might as well make the towers then." He said as he walked along the path as his walls rose.
I snickered and fixed his tower then connected them with an arch gate. I added a stone gate and a mechanism to open and close it. After showing off my knowledge and skills, I hopped into the cart and followed the wall as I raised it.
Three hours away, I felt a pounding headache but I managed to reach the ending of this section. With the girls on board, we made it back into the inner circle.
I did what normal people do when tired, sleep.
