A world, not so distant from this one we currently live in, resides on an alternate timeline. Time is made up by humans, but timelines are inevitable. This is the story of one of those, a timeline where a catastrophe had occurred. The Cold War of 1947 to 1991 put the world on lock, a horror show that people observed from their neighboring, smaller nations. The two superpowers, the United States, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, had everything at stake. Any form of technological advantage over the other was taken for granted. The war, like the one we experienced oh so long ago, was quiet. We expanded our militaristic and domestic industrial budgets to be able to compete, and find new ways to best the other. However, that didn't last all too long.
In 1963, when our timeline had the limited test ban treaty, for this timeline it became total war. Nukes were not used, as the two superpowers understood the detrimental nature of what would happen if one fired. At least, in the beginning. NATO was attempting to hold back the USSR from their own borders, but it wasn't extremely successful. The fight was still quiet, some considered it "Luke Warm" as a joke. Referring to the old name, of what once was the Cold War. International waters and air spaces became segregated, and trade routes became heavily monitored and protected. Submarines patrolled the waters, as bombers and gunships flew through the air protecting passengers and cargo aircraft.

By now, you would think the world was already in disarray. But the US had an idea, secret from the USSR for many years to come. To create automated AI that can operate on its own, and help in the war. Carrying cargo, troops, or even being able to fight themselves. These where considered the "One Hundred Classes" and was a really experimental type of technology. You see, these machines were designed to be intelligent. State of the art technology, artificial intelligence, materials. The list would go on, but the story would be spoiled if it did. This story, is of one of the hundred classes. A story on how war changes people, and what happens to those affected by its dark, horrifying grasp.
