So, I'd just like to start this off by apologising. I haven't posted in quite some time and I'm sorry to anyone who was enjoying my story that was disappointed when I stopped.
Quite frankly, I don't know exactly why I stopped posting. I think it was a mix of a complete lack of motivation to post, getting back into working full-time, and also not feeling happy with the quality of the chapters I was putting out. I'm happy with my story overall but, so far, nothing has been edited and putting out something that still had even just small holes like people or places that I hadn't yet named felt wrong.
So, good news to anyone that still wants to read the story, I never actually stopped writing. Currently, I'm partway through Arc 3 and I'm 425,000 words into the story and still going strong. I have a general outline for everything that is going to happen this arc and I think it's going to take me until at least 550,000 words. After that, I have the start of the next arc planned out and a pretty strong idea of what's going to happen but nothing concrete yet. Once we move beyond that, though, I still have a long way to go with this story but, to everyone who likes never-ending stories, I'm sorry but that's not my style. This story does have a planned ending and will probably end somewhere between the 1-2 million word mark.
More good news is that I plan to continue posting and that I plan to make a Patreon where you can read quite a few chapters ahead (and maybe even read some other things that I work on in spare time) that will (hopefully) be posting faster than royal road. When I get back into posting, I'll also be posting one chapter every day for a month to really apologise for going MIA for so long.
Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.
The bad news is that I'll only be doing that when I get done with editing the book's first arc. It isn't going to be a heavy edit as I really don't have time for that but I will be putting my version of the book on my kindle (not up on the Amazon store) so I can read and make notes where I need to edit to get it done quicker. It will hopefully be done soon (though that's subject to my workload outside of writing) and I'm going to keep chugging along with my writing besides that.
Anyways, I hope this post catches people well (if it catches anyone at all) and I hope you're all doing well.
Signing off for now, Lock
P.S. some good news it you do enjoy the world, though, and don't want to stop reading stories set in it. I do have a few more stories planned, both with characters you know and with those that you don't. These could be set before, during, or after the time of Bad Luck Comes in Threes and I have some really cool (if I do say so myself) ideas to do with technology and magical development.
While it's not the point of this post, I've been thinking about stories focussing on Lu, one focussing on Emyr, and some focussing on some historical figures in the world.
On top of that, I've got a deckbuilding story set in the future, where the world is undergoing an industrial revolution, and one that's set even further in the future, when they have technology equivalent (but not the same, it's magical of course) to either modern or future technology. I also have an idea for an alternate universe where something apocalyptic (no spoilers here, sorry) happens and we look in on a post-apocalyptic version of the world.
