“Ugh.. what happened here?” I was barely conscious after the blast. All I could see was splatter of blood everywhere. With all my strength I tried to get up and take Nami out of here. I could see her lying unconscious next to me.
“Nami, Nami, wake up! We need to get out of here. ” I started trying to wake her up quickly. After the blast some people died and everyone started running for their lives. We need to get out too.
“Uhh, Araya?” Nami was starting to wake up.
“We have to go! Get up, demons have attacked.” I wrapped my hand around her waist and tried to get her up on her feet. At that moment a sudden chill went through my body. I could feel the demons entering the town. But what was more weird to me was that all the black coats that were in the town have gone missing and none of them are coming to evacuate the town.
I and Nami started to run with everyone towards the northern exit of the town. The whole market was in complete chaos with people losing behind their loved ones and some getting crushed under the feets of the running crowd. Why aren’t those black coats helping us? My mind was full of thoughts and cries of the people around me.
“We are close to the exit! Just a little bit more.” I and Nami were somehow reaching close to the northern exit and it felt like the demons were left behind somewhere. Maybe the black coats came in for help after all. I was happy that Nami and I would soon be out of the town.
I looked up to thank the Gods for saving us.
“Eh…..” my heart almost exploded at the sight. A human body went flying above us, only the upper half of it and the intestines made a long rope while it passed from above us. My head turned quickly towards Nami and looking at her horrified face I pulled her towards me and held her head close to me.
The swarm of people in front of us started to scream and run back towards the town. My thoughts were a complete mess and didn’t want to run back because that would mean sure death. I and Nami ducked below trying to avoid getting stomped by the feet of this running crowd.
“Are you alright? I will get you out of here.. I promise!” I looked towards Nami’s face. She was still in shock from the blast and the scenes a while ago. She nodded her saying, “Yes, I believe in you Araya.”
“Get out of the way! Yori!! Yori!!” Some guy came running in front of us. It looked like he was searching for his lost children. He looked at us sitting down on the ground and asked us crying, “Have you seen a girl? She is 5 years old.”
“No sir.. We have not seen her.” We both shock our heads. “Thank you.. Ah.. Let me go!” he got dragged away by the people running towards the town. We stuck close to each other waiting for the crowd to pass.

Colonel Adachi Kinji’s perspective
“Sir!, we have confirmed the presence of demons in the town. We have also identified 4 higher demons and 15 lower demons. One of the higher demons, “Vangrar” is attacking citizens on the Northern exit. What are your orders? Colonel Kinji”, A soldier came running in our camp that we built just outside the town.

Why are these soldiers always so loud. Can’t they tell me their reports more gently..
“Ugh.. Yes, My orders are that we wait here for the demons to come out of the town. We don’t have enough high level Black coats to handle 4 higher demons.” I gave my orders in the same loud voice. I just have to hold these soldiers here until the demons are done slaughtering those Deminins.
I thought it would be an easy job because Shoji chose only Enmoto soldiers and there was not a single Deminin soldier to question my orders. But even among Enmoto soldiers there are few who take their job a bit too seriously.
“But colonel we have 100 Elite Black coats and I think we will be able to hold 4 High demons.” I heard a familiar voice and turned behind and just like I thought, It was major Shinichi Makoto. The one guys who takes his job very seriously.
I need to shut him down before things get out of hand. “Major Makoto, we have located 4 higher demons but there can be more.” I got up from my seat and walked towards Makoto.
“Are you telling me we are prepared for any kind of ambush? Will you be taking responsibility if we lose our elite soldiers?”
We were making eye contact but It felt more like I was looking at a light pole and Makoto’s build was something I was always jealous of. Why does God always give these simpletons all the muscles in this world?
“But Sir.. what about the people of Orillion? We cannot just let them be slaughtered by the demons.” He was looking straight into my eyes. I was sure he was not going to back down with just a simple threat.
I needed to show him who he should not fuck with. He may be a muscle mountain but I am a colonel for a reason. I put my hand on his shoulder and he was on his knees, ”You know Major Makoto I always found it hard to talk to you.. Why are you so freaking tall?”. His face was full of sweat now and he was looking at the floor. I never try to use violence but I need to put him in his place.
“Let me tell you the truth, Shinichi Makoto.”, I walked past him while my hand was still on his shoulder. “The church that you visit everyday has given me the orders to let demons rampage in Orillion. They wanted me to sit here and relax until every last one the adult male and female of Orillion became a teared up sheet of meat and every child was either eaten or captured for raising as slaves.”
A small drop of sweat fell on the floor making a tap sound. I turned towards him and bent to reach his ear, “I was just kidding hehe~”
I pulled him up on his feet and took my hand off his shoulder, “So, now Makoto. Be a good subordinate and go to the northern exit and keep a check on the situation. And REMEMBER, you only have to follow my orders.”
We didn’t speak another word to each other. He just stood there looking at the seal of the church on the wall while I walked outside the camp. We setted up our camp a bit far away from the exit gate but I could still clearly hear the wailing of people who were trapped there. I looked up in the sky thinking if there is a God, he is never going to forgive me.
