Chapter 2: A Dreamy Proposition From The Foregone Rulers

Many hours later, the four summoned/reincarnated heroes along with many other summoned/reincarnated heroes marched through the short throne room-like room; they walked past the rows of knights from various kingdoms before arriving before the six rulers. The heroes bowed before the cousal of six rulers sat behind their curved dark-marble counsel table. The four kings and two queens murmured amongst themselves before looking over at the heroes in unison.

"We thank you once again great heroes of the divine for dealing with yet another appearance of a Demon King," King Lurioku Zulios Luminous said gracefully before he and the other kings and queens bowed to the heroes.

"We graciously accept your gratitude... although it would be more effective if you and the other Heavenly Heroes assisted in these endeavours," Atlas remarked. Lurioku amusedly chuckled at Atlas' remark while the other heroes also quietly chuckled.

"True... however, you know how infrequent Zalroth and Chronia's appearances are, and the others are no better given how often they have to deal with S-ranked and above heathens," Lurioku remarked as he tapped his finger against the large curved table.

"Now about the rewards... I take it you all are tired of receiving large bags of platinum coins and land?" The Female Demon Lord (Queen of The Noumany Continent) asked. The Heroes nodded in tandem. The Noumany Continent Queen placed her hand on her chin until an idea came to mind.

"How about lifetime passes to that hotsprings resort in Harmony Falls?" The Noumany Continent Queen offered. The sheer mention of a hot spring got the attention of the otherworlder Heroes.

"We graciously accept your offer!" The group of heroes proclaimed in unison with a shocking amount of vigour. After the other kings and queen presented their alternate rewards to cash, the heroes vacated the throne room, and all the rulers but Lurioku sighed in exhaustion.

"Speaking of money, I think we should really renovate the currency as a whole," The queen of The Floating Continent of Kalikose remarked. The other rulers nodded in agreement as Lurioku stared up at the chandelier as Xiavion led atop it.

"It's rare to see you in attendance, Lord of Accumulation," Lurioku remarked. Xiavion rolled his eyes at being called by his title before he rolled off the chandelier. Xiavion landed in front of the curved table and kneeled before the council of rulers.

"Just call me by my name.".

"Very well. So, Xiavion, do you have something to report?" The king of the Hinoramita Continent asked.

"Indeed... although I believe it should be for you six only," Xiavion stated seriously. The rulers nodded and ordered their knights to leave for the time being; once the knights left the room, Lurioku noticed the large golden ring on the back of Xiavion's right hand, which matched the one on his other hand.

"I see... so you wished to tell us you used your Azure Ability to bind the twentieth demon king to you as you've done with the others? I don't believe you need to tell us that," The king of the Knighthrall Continent inquired. Xiavion lowered his head solemnly.

"I... must come clean; I modified the sealing spell of my Binding Seal Azure Ability I used on the twentieth demon king," Xiavion stated while keeping his face pointed at the floor.

"Which entails?" The king of the Aivikkra Continent asked with a concerned tone.

"With the modification to sealing spell... I was able to stop the Demon King Curse from randomly transferring to an unsuspecting demon-esk being," Xiavion uttered. The queen of the Kalikose Continent sat up on her throne in shock as she figured out what Xiavion was implying.

"Are you saying?" The queen of the Kalikose Continent asked while looking at Xiavion worriedly.

"Indeed...," Xiavion said as he raised his head. The other rulers, apart from Lurioku, were still discussing what the queen of the Kalikose Continent had figured out, but they quieted down when Xiavion began to speak once again.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

"I... have made myself the new Demon King by sealing the curse within me using my Azure Ability," Xiavion stated, leaving the unaware kings and queen in silence at the revelation. The silence of the room echoed past the rulers and Xiavion filling each of them with a huge sense of awkwardness.

"Although I'd say it's more of a technicality since you aren't exhibiting any effects of the curse, though maybe it's because you're both an abyssal demon and a miruku, right Xiavion," The king of the Knighthrall Continent asked.

"Potentially," Xiavion uttered as the faint beeping chimed from afar yet close location.

"And since creatures from the abyss are functionally immortal, even if Xiavion were to die, the curse would forever be a part of him thanks to his azure ability; so, the curse is basically dealt with..., right?" The queen of the Kalikose Continent asked as she looked at the other rulers. The rulers bickered and discussed amongst themselves while Xiavion quietly kneeled before them until they ended their discussion.

"For committing to such a noble sacrifice; Xiavion, The Wandering Accumulator and The Lord of Accumulation; we as the rulers of our respective continents bestow upon you the gift of retirement from mandatory heroing," Lurioku proclaimed boastfully. Xiavion was left at a loss for words at the sudden declaration from the six rulers.

"From this day forth, you may live your life as you see fit and will receive monthly funds from each of the royal family as long as you are in retirement, note if we ever ask you for help with anything that won't count as your retirement ending," Lurioku added.

"I... don't know... no, thank you for the gift, each of you," Xiavion stated, while the kings and queens joked it was about time Xiavion had some form of a break given how old he is. Xiavion chuckled to himself, but as he wondered what he would do with his newfound freedom from heroing, the gradual sound of the chiming beeping grew to a loud roar.

Xiavion closed his eyes before gradually opening his eyes as the sound of his orange chibi-cat-head-themed alarm clock sounded its alarm. Xiavion raised a hand to the alarm clock before he flicked the clock's ear and shut off the alarm. Xiavion moved his right arm (which has ten large gold magic marks rings that ran up from the back of his hand to his shoulder) over his head and amusedly sighed as he reminisced over his dream.

"How nostalgic," Xiavion uttered mentally. However, Xiavion's nostalgia trip was cut short as the door to his treehouse-styled-lab-themed bedroom creaked open, and Toki entered the room while wearing a pink cat-themed onesie.

"Papa, I'm hungry," Toki said boldly and tiredly. Xiavion sat up in his bed as Toki waddled over to Xiavion while lazily dragging her trailing dragon tail behind her. Toki stood next to Xiavion as he rubbed his eyes.

"Alright-alright, give me a second to fully wake up," Xiavion murmured, much to Toki's pleasure. Toki giddily skipped out of Xiavion's Room while Xiavion reached his left arm (also has ten large gold magic mark rings which run from the back of his hand to his shoulder) to the window and pulled the curtains open before unintentionally blinding himself for a split second.

Xiavion sighed and looked at the ring on the back of his left hand as it glowed a deep magenta-purple colour before the glow faded away. Xiavion groaned in exhaustion as he looked at the back of his right hand.

"Toki, you better not be trying to steal cookies from the cookie jar!" Xiavion proclaimed. Toki let out a loud eep noise before the sound of a ceramic object sliding across a marble surface with an obnoxiously loud scratching noise echoed from the kitchen. Rapid footsteps approached Xiavion's room before Toki slowly moved her head in front of the open door.

"Can I... please have a cookie... from the cookie jar, Papa?" Toki asked shyly whilst she clung her tiny fingers to the door frame. Xiavion playfully rolled and gave Toki a thumbs up. Toki happily darted away before crashing into someone and falling backwards in front of the open door.

"Mind your step, Toki," Merrybel (the short young female child humanoid half demon/half sharkling) uttered tiredly and slightly aggressively as she rubbed her eyes. (she has short-scruffy-light-rose hair with her hair tied behind her head in a super large pom-pom [the pom-pom is double the size of her head], reflective pink eyes, light skin, two short stumpy horns on her forehead, sharp shark-like teeth, and a super long light pink shark tail with a heart-shaped tail fin: she's wearing a scale-textured reflective silver fabric around her chest, dark silver baggy oversized cargo shorts (which looked like trousers on her), fluffy pink striped socks, and silverwood sandals)

Merrybel manoeuvred around Toki before she hurried off for the kitchen.

"Father, I thought I let you know it's sports day at school tomorrow," Merrybel said with a cutesy tone while shyly holding her hands behind her waist.

"Thanks for the heads up, Merrybel," Xiavion said tiredly. Merrybel giddily giggled at receiving praise from Xiavion before she skipped away but quickly came back. Merrybel apologised for not closing the door and subsequently closed Xiavion's bedroom door. Xiavion clicked his neck and muttered he should get ready to take Merrybel and the others to school before he climbed out of bed.
