You three manage to sneak a younger student into your dorm,” Miss Merica shook her head, “AND you decided it was a good idea to throw such a dangerous potion?
“That is ridiculous!” Miss Merica screamed, “You could have got hurt or even worse blown up the school! AGAIN!”
“Again…?” Zeph muttered
“But the student was lost in the halls!” Amelia protested,” What were we supposed to do?”
“CALL ONE OF THE STAFF?” Miss Merica answered furiously
“You would have just sent him home,” Lori shot back, “And he’s a troubled student who just got their ability which isn’t a good idea!”
“That was an old rule,” Miss Merica glared at Lori, “We don’t send troubled students back.”
“It was your bad and the schools,” Miss Merica say trying to keep her temper, “Your bad for hiding a troubled student. Our bad for losing the troubled student.”
“Can we stop calling me a troubled student already!?,” Zeph hissed, “Oops... I mean uh… the title is quite an offensive one…”
“Well, you probably know your assigning didn’t go as planned,” Miss Merica’s expression changed, “Sorry about losing you in the hallway but you shouldn’t have left the infirmary without permission.”
“The place was full,” Zeph muttered. Zeph knew it wasn’t the best idea to leave but he was trying to avoid someone.
Zeph looked around as the three girls got lectured. The place is somewhat messy with papers stacked on the floor, thousands of posters covering the walls small figures scattered around the front desk where Miss Merica was sitting, and lastly the thing that stood out to Zeph the most; the front desk covered in colourful handprints. The colours ranged from a beautiful blue to striking orange but somehow all the colours complement each other in a mysterious way.
“I’ll let you off this time,” Miss Merica sighed, “But next time I see you guys causing trouble you will be sent to after-school detention.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Amelia said,” We’ll make sure to not make that mistake again.”
“Off you go to classes you three and Zeph go ahead and meet the other juniors in the gymnasium,” Miss Merica instructed, “You know where that is right? Do you need me to guide you?”
“Uh no,” Zeph lied, “I’ll be fine. Bye…”
Zeph got off his chair, following the 3 girls. They stopped almost right before getting up at a big door the size of almost 10 people! Amelia walked up to the door and knocked 3 times on it. “Dorm 93,” Amelia said bowing to the door. The door opened but not in the way, Zeph thought it would. Instead of swinging open the 2 doors slide into the walls. Zeph turned his head looking nervously at Miss Merica.
“Don’t be scared to try,” Miss Merica said still sitting on the messy desk,” Just say where you are going in this case the gymnasium,”
The door slides closed after the 3 girls walked in. Zeph faces the door once again and knocks 3 times on it. “Gymnasium,” he said in a clear loud voice. The door doesn’t open for a second. Miss Merica reminded Zeph to bow to the door. Zeph awkwardly bowed to the door. Maybe he’ll learn why we have to bow to activate the doors in class.
The door quickly slid open tossing a breeze of air into Zeph’s face. The swirled-like pattern changed to a green shade. Zeph took a deep breath in and stepped in. He had only been in one of these propagators when he was a child. He didn’t have much memory except the terrible nausea he felt either from the trip or the nervousness.
The same green shade surrounds Zeph. He could no longer feel the walls or floor; he was floating in an empty space. Zeph closed his eyes hoping to calm down his nausea. Suddenly he felt the floor again and opened his eyes. He was standing in the gym breathing heavily from that trip. No one seemed to notice him. He noticed lines forming. He decided to investigate what he needed to do. Above the forming lines, he notices a floating tag. He reads out “Mr. Carmen- 1A”.
“Hey we meet again,” A familiar annoying voice said, “If I forgot who I was I’m Arlo Aurla!”
“I remember you,” Zeph sighed, “What do you want?”
“You’re on the list my class,” Arlo smiled, “Class 1B Ms. Memon!”
“Ugh,” Zeph replied, “Great.”

“Let’s head to our line before they leave without us,” Arlo said grabbing onto Zeph’s arm.
Arlo dashed through the crowd. The gymnasium was much bigger than Zeph thought it was. At least over 10 000 people could fit in it… well, I guess that is an overstatement. They pushed through the crowd until they reached a forming line. Zeph looked above the line reading out “Ms. Memon” the letters begin floating around in the air. Arlo stops in place staring at the floating letters.
Most people in the area noticed the floating letters; pointing them out to their friends. The letters spin around causing a strong wind to form and push everyone back. Zeph didn’t fall. He trained himself to resist people's powers after all he was a wanted criminal. If a small breeze can push him back how was he useful? The wind grew stronger and stronger. It’s just like training, keep thinking about your training. WOOSH.
The wind vanished as a young woman appeared. Zeph looked around he was heavily breathing. Arlo was still holding his hand. Zeph quickly snatched his hand out of his and to his surprise Arlo was standing. Other people were getting up after falling from the wind. Zeph was proud of himself but reminded himself it was probably a small test.
“Hello, students! I’m 1B Ms. Memon,” The lady said in a loud voice, “Come on now! How could you fall from such a small breeze?”
Small breeze? Zeph thought calming his fast pacing breath, he needs to train more… maybe on Fridays, he could do extra element training with-
“Whatever, it’s the first day!” Ms. Memon interrupted Zeph’s thinking, “by the end of the year you better be able to run through this small breeze!”
“Whatever!?” A student yelled, “I thought my teacher would be more mature than this “whatever” nonsense!”
“What do you mean by that good sir?” Ms. Memon said appearing next to the screaming student.”
“AH,” He said startled, “Well “whatever” would be an improper statement unlike “Oh well” or-”
“I’m not your grammar teacher,” Ms. Memon interrupted, “Pssh posh, you’re no funn~~”
She vanished again appearing back in the place she was. Zeph agreed with the student. She was a teacher and “whatever” was pretty informal and ignorant.
“Now now I will read the list of names so you know you are in my class,” Ms. Memon yawned, “You know what it’s whatever let’s make this funnier!”
Ms. Memon smiled ripping the name paper to shreds. A huge gust of wind appeared causing Zeph to fall. He noticed shreds of the paper flying by him.
“Uh oh!” Ms. Memon said, “Your names have gone with the wind!”
“Find them till the end of the day and you’ll be accepted into my class!” Ms. Memon laughed.
“W-what if we don’t?” A student spoke up.
“I’ll track you down and eat you alive!!” Ms. Memon said in a serious tone, “I’M JUST KIDDING! You’ll probably be relocated to someone else class and don’t forget~ I’m the best professor in the school!”
“It’s true,” Arlo muttered, “My dad speaks of her tactics all the time…”
Zeph turned to Arlo and noticed he fell over too. He looked around even more and noticed no one was standing. Well, not a lot of people were in the gym anymore… maybe their lessons have already begun. THIS WAS A WASTE OF TIME Zeph thought angrily, but… I do need to be with the best professor.
“What are you doing??” Ms. Memon asked, “GO GO GO!! YOU HAVE THE END OF THE DAY TO FIND THOSE PAPERS!!”
“Where do we search?” Arlo blurted out.
“Everywhere the wind blows~” Ms. Memon laughed.
“But the wind blows everywhere,” Arlo said, “The papers can be scattered anywhere?”
“Outside of the school to the edges of the nation!” Ms. Memon smiled, “Now go along!”
“HOW IS THIS GOING TO BE P-”
Arlo grabbed Zeph’s hand once again. He lead Zeph towards the gym's portal as another student argued.
“Where are we going?” Zeph asked Arlo ripping his hand out of his grip, “How do you know where our names are?”
“Well, we have to check somewhere right?” Arlo said, “I know this school by heart.”
“What about the town?” Zeph said, “We have the end of the day.”
“No way there wouldn’t be clues!” Arlo said, “This would be impossible then! Maybe we can ask one of the seniors.”
“Oh ya,” Zeph said, “I know some seniors we can ask.”
“So where are we heading?” Arlo asked
“The dorms,” Zeph responded,
“Are they even in the dorms?” Arlo asked, “Did classes start?”
“My sister used to go here when the first years come they have class later than usual,” Zeph said, “I’m not sure when but let’s check.”
“Do you know their dorm number?”
“Yep,”
Zeph walked up to the gym portal and bowed his head. Dorm 93 he remembered. Maybe the girls would know something. Hopefully, the girls knew something… Zeph took a big breath in before speaking to the door. 93 he repeated. The door slides open and the portal turned yellow. Arlo runs straight in and Zeph follows.
The terrible feeling hits again as Zeph enters the portal. Again he feels the floor disappear under his feet but he refuses to open his eyes. It’s going to be over soon, he comforted himself. He opened his eyes but he wasn’t in a room he was still standing in the empty void. Zeph put both of his hands on his mouth holding and closed his eyes again. Please bring me to solid ground please please, he pleaded.
“You good?” A familiar voice asked, “You look a tad sick.”
Zeph opened his eyes. He looks around and realizes he’s in the girl's dorm. Amelia stands in front of him wearing a school uniform. Arlo is talking to the other 2 girls and glances at Zeph.
“You good bro?” Arlo asked, “They took a while to let us into the dorm.”
“Uh…” Zeph said dusting his clothes and neating his hair, “I’m fine…”
“Don’t worry you just have to get used to the portal system,” Lori laughed, “I vomited the first time I used it!”
Zeph smiled weakly.
“So what do you know about the test?” Arlo turned back to the 2 girls.
“Well…”
