I'M BACK BITCHESSSSS!
After this sudden and random 2 day hiatus ( which I am sorry about D: ) I am back in blac- I mean just back.
Some new developements are on the horizon with this Chapter and I hope you like it as we stray away from the drama and relationships a bit that seem to split apart our dear Protagonist and Harem girl 1 and 2! (Yes I know I am being mean by not calling them by their names, so what?)

Chapter 59: Breached
Unable to contain his anger, Galenwelth crushed the cup in his right hand to powder while staring at the trembling Soldier before him.
"Explain it to me again why the second South-East gate is still standing!?"
With a shaky voice and a nervous look, the man before him complied.
"Milord, we sent 1 thousand of our men to the gate just as you ordered and when they returned only 476 remained, most of which reported of a 'Demon' that protected the wall."
Furrowing his brow, Galenwelth motioned for the man to continue while wiping pieces of cup from his hand.
"When I questioned them further, the surviving Captain said that one men alone kept them from breaching the already badly damaged gate.
At first they didn't really think he was too much, neither built with an inhuman frame nor giving off a strong aura but no matter how much they wounded him and no matter the amount he bled, he just wouldn't die and instead slaughtered our men by the dozen.
In the end they were forced to retreat after seeing that he even healed in a matter of seconds."
Frowning deeply after hearing the full report, Galenwelth remained silent for a while.
This sure was an unusual turn of events but he was well aware that his Soldiers wouldn't dare lie to him so there really was a 'Demon' that protected the second South-East gate.
Was his source from inside the Stronghold trying to wipe out his men?
Unsure what was really going on behind the scenes anymore and unable to fully trust the unreliable source, Galenwelth had no other choice but to get rid of this obstacle.
"Inform all Captains that I will personally lead the charge against the second South-East gate tomorrow.
We already wasted enough time and men here.
Prepare the War-beasts and tell him that that we are going to need his help tomorrow.
It is time that we take back what is ours!"
With a thunderous voice he quickly gave the orders and his Soldiers showed a relieved smile after hearing that the War-beasts would finally be put to use.
After a short glance to the spilled wine on the ground when he broke his cup in anger earlier, Galenwelth once again asked for another and stared at the star filled sky above him.
This war would now finally conclude with tomorrow's battle and he would make sure to not let a single Asurian scum live to tell the tale.
With a sinister light in his eyes and his blood boiling with the desire to slaughter his enemies, Galenwelth, Commander of the first Sarachec Army mentally vowed to use every resource available for him to win this war.
…..
After returning to Azalon, Makoto immediately went to look for Sharon.
It only took a few minutes before he was once again reunited with his girlfriend and just like she had told him over the phone, he could no longer notice any fear in her eyes or actions.
To his own surprise she even immediately wrapped her arms around him and kissed him without any restraint, much to the awe of the surrounding soldiers that were currently busy with forming ranks and readying their gear to once again protect the Stronghold.
Unwilling to part from these heavenly lips he also put his arms around her and dragged Sharon into a tight embrace while playing with her tongue.
Licking his own lips once after parting from her, Makoto could clearly see the hungry look in her eyes and also the love that bloomed on her face once again when she looked at him.
"So everything is alright again?"
He asked with a crooked smile, already knowing the answer to his question.
Without even saying anything she just hugged his arm and accompanied him to the rest of his Squad.
The moment he approached them he could see the same fanatic look in their eyes as Squad 40 looked at him with an idolizing awe.
His own gaze flew over them once to make sure that everything was going its normal way and halted after spotting Lilliana.
She had a complicated expression on her face and the look she gave him seemed to be somewhat longing which once again made him feel unconfortable.
Glancing to his right, Makoto could see that his girlfriend was also looking at the smaller girl and the way Sharon stared at her was enough to terrify him.
Thankfully she only looked and didn’t take any action even though she was well aware what the other had done.
Sighing deeply at the incredible tension between the two girls he once again faced his Squad which at this point had formed into rows before him, only awaiting his orders now.
"This will be our third day of defense, when we reach the gate today I want most of you to help reinforce it once again as it seems to me that it will not hold in a situation similar to yesterday's.
Our main objective is to make sure that no one gets through, no matter what!"
He could see nodding all around and with a smile turned around.
"Squad 40, move out!"
With hasted steps and Sharon still sticking to his side, Makoto and the rest of his troops quickly reached the second South-East gate.
Just like he said, most of the men immediately went to work and started to use the surrounding wood as a material.
After about 2 hours the barricade looked even sturdier and a few dents in the iron gate had also been fixed.
That was around the time that the Sarachec army once again appeared on the horizon and Makoto watched the mass of enemies with furrowed brows.
He was currently standing on the wall and surveying everything until he noticed a change.
Just like before a mass of enemies split from the main force and rushed towards him but it was different this time.
Instead of a small part breaking away, nearly a third of the entire enemy force slowly but surely broke away and seemed to be coming his way.
Another Soldier from his Squad also witnessed this spectacle and immediately looked at Makoto with wide eyes.
"Captain, what should we do!?"
His mind racing for an answer and well aware that the surrounding men were clearly alerted by the frightened shout from one of their own, Makoto immediately made his decision and turned around to the men that were still working on reinforcing the gate.
"All of you!
Immediately return to the First South-East gate and warn the other gates along the wall, the second South-East gate has fallen!
More than 10 thousand are going to destroy this gate in a few minutes so make sure that this message reaches them before the enemy does!
After delivering the message about their number and that we couldn't hold them quickly return to the First South-East gate, all of our lives depend on this!"
It took them a while to process this new order but soon they hurriedly stood up and talked to each other to decide who went where.
After only half a minute, more than two thirds of his Squad had disappeared without a trace in an attempt to warn the other gates.
Turning to the rest of his Squad that still remained on the wall with him, he could clearly see the nervous look in all of their eyes as they stared at him, waiting for his orders.
"The rest of you follow me to the First South-East gate.
Farabello, send out a flare to warn our allies once again that the gate has fallen."
Nodding once the little Mage immediately started to chant a few words while his Soldiers descended the wall with quick steps.
"Quick, hurry!"
"To the first gate!"
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
His Soldiers shouted in an attempt to once again hurry their comrades to haste as Makoto together with Farabello and the rest of his party came in last while occasionally looking back at the disappearing second gate behind them.
After a few minutes of running they could hear an incredibly loud bang, similar to an explosion behind them, followed by the roaring and cries of Sarachec Soldiers.
"They have breached the gate!"
One of his Soldiers shouted and Makoto just like so many others shot another glance over his shoulder.
Most of the pathways to and from a gate had been blocked on purpose so that if one gate of the second wall was breached all the others would not fall as well.
The problem with this was that the actual way back to the first gate snaked around in narrow hallways and alleyways which made retreating in a quick fashion nearly impossible.
After another 3 minutes of absolute terror his Squad finally reached the first gate were a few others of Squad 40 were already waiting for them with worried expressions.
"Quickly, close the gate!"
Makoto shouted after rushing through and a Captain of another Squad approached him right away with a grim expression while his Soldiers helped in quickly closing and barricading the iron gate.
He had seen this man before and judging from the Silver cross on his Chest he was also a noble from Asuria.
With a nasal voice that was full of disdain and head held high the other Captain spoke.
"As expected from a former commoner, the second gate fell in such a short time and you call yourself a noble of our wonderful Asuria? Shame on you!"
Unwilling to even bother with an idiot like him, Makoto quickly turned around and gave his Squad a few more orders which angered the arrogant Captain behind him immensely.
"I demand that you listen to me when I grace you with a few words you peasant!"
Putting one hand on his shoulder the man tried to turn Makoto around with force but found out to his surprise that it felt like he was trying to move a 10 foot boulder with just one hand.
Clearly pissed off, Makoto finally turned around and slapped the other Captain once to finally get him to shut up.
"Listen here pipsqueak and let me tell you this only once, there is about 10 thousand Sarachec Soldiers coming this way so if you don't stop showing off your title as a noble right now I will throw you their way first things first, you get me?"
Clearly stunned by his words the other man just looked at him with an open mouth and Makoto turned around to give a few more orders to make sure that his Squad would survive this calamity as best as possible.
Facing the baffled Captain behind him once again, Makoto rattled a bunch of orders his way, uncaring for rank or any attitude in the current crisis.
"Get your archers on the wall and the rest of your men to help reinforce this gate.
Next up, send word to our resting Soldiers and to the other gates for reinforcements and do so fast, we won't be able to hold it long without them even if the walls are higher and the gate sturdier.
Tell them that we are facing once third of the enemy army and make sure to get as many as possible.
After that I want you to inform Captain Fafnir and Commander Bharfas that the enemy Commander is probably also with them as a decisive move like this has to be coordinated on the battlefield itself.
If not the enemy Commander then there is someone else with a lot of power and influence within this major force so it amounts to the same thing in the end."
Still staring with an open mouth at him, the man seemed to be in a daze that someone dared to talk with him this way and only Makoto's next action forced him to close it.
With a mighty slap on the same cheek as before he sent the other Captain sprawling on the floor and glared at him with crimson eyes.
"Move it Soldier or do you want me to throw you over the wall head first?
This is an emergency and if we don't hold this gate we are all doomed so move your ass and do as I say!"
"Y-Yes!"
Any attitude or arrogance had been blown away after facing the harsh reality of death in the next minutes so the other Captain did as he was told and put Makoto's orders through while still holding his hurting cheek.
"The rest of you come with me."
He said to the archers and is own party as he also ascended the wall of the first gate that was indeed a lot sturdier and higher than the previous one.
Fear was written on every face that they passed and only after crossing the last step and looking down did he really see what they had to face in the next few minutes.
More than 10 thousand Soldiers slowly but surely made their way through the snaking path that lead to the first gate.
Most of them wore the normal uniform of Sarachec Soldiers but that was seemingly not all of them as Makoto saw a group of bare chested muscular men with fur growing all over their bodies appear at one point and he asked Farabello who they could be.
"As far as I know Sarachec Soldiers all wear the same uniform like we do so if you saw a few other groups then the enemy Commander must have recruited them as mercenaries to bulk up his army.
This could be either good or bad as most mercenaries only know how to fight monsters and not other people but if they are from a prestigious house then they are many times stronger and more experienced than even our best Soldiers...
Let us hope it is not the latter for all of our wellbeing."
Makoto silently agreed and once again looked at the endless rows of tightly packed men in armor beneath him.
Soon enough the other Captain returned and gave his report.
"I told my men to help reinforce the wall and it should hold for a while even if they use a battering ram.
Messages have been sent to Bharfas and Fafnir, both are saying that they will immediately send reinforcements and Bharfas is also one the way to personally help.
256 Soldiers from other gates have already arrived and more are still coming"
Nodding once after giving him a small thank you for the detailed report he spoke again.
"Tell me, how many men do we currently have to defend the gate?"
"As of right now that would be a little more than 800, Sir."
Makoto remained silent for a moment before dismissing the man but he surprisingly still remained at his side so he just decided to ignore him for now.
"800 against 10 thousand... they really don't pay enough for risking your own hide like this..."
He muttered in a low voice, staring at the sheer endless amount of enemy Soldiers.
Sharon glanced at him worriedly and held his hand tight which he answered by showing her a reassuring smile.
After one more minute all of the archers around him were in position and waited for Makoto's orders, a few of them were his own and he could still see a fanatic light in their eyes which greatly disturbed him.
He would have to organize a long talk with Squad 40 when this was over...
Silence fell around them and only the occasional shout or hammering from below could be heard.
After a few more minutes he could finally hear them.
A rumble went through everyone when they felt the thousands and thousands of footsteps that shook the earth itself.
"Archers, aim for the street!"
Lifting his arm, Makoto waited, his eyes stuck to the last bend of the street that lead to the first gate.
Soon enough he could see silhouettes eagerly running around the corner and he was more than willing to give them a big welcome.
"Fire!"
Together with his arm that fell down, more than a hundred arrows instantly shot towards the first few Sarachec Soldiers that spilled forth on the street, igniting the flames of the final and decisive battle...
