One day when our vacation period had just started, at first we were quite happy to just relax, but soon we grew bored. The scorching heat of the summer torched our skins so we decided to head off to a nearby lake to cool off in the muddy but otherwise clean waters. After what seemed like forever we made it there. The sand was grey and glittering from tiny crystalized grains that it had. The lake was packed, there were all sorts of people, we didn’t recognize anyone, after all Mattlefor wasn’t a very well known place at the time.
“I’m going fishing, we can roast some vegetable skewers over the fire at dawn as we watch the sunset” Hakaze said.
“Sounds good! Me and Symania will go swimming!” I told him.
We both ditched our magic robes to reveal our swimming wear and went into the cool but not too cold waters. It was amazing, but the lake had a lot of fish in it which would swim up against your legs, and this made Symania uncomfortable so after only a short while we decided to join Hakaze with his fishing instead, whilst occasionally dipping in the water to cool off. Hours seemed to pass in minutes and we didn’t catch any fish. Nothing would bite. Perhaps we used the wrong bait. At some point we heard a piercing scream from the distance.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
It was a young child, he’d been stung by a Zaetea. In case you’re from the city, Zaetea are small crustaceans that look like someone crossed a dragonfly and a lobster, about the size of your hand. They can fly and swim but are cautious of humanoids, so usually they pose no threat, as they are also scavengers. However, their stings can cause lasting pain and ailments, and in some cases they are fatal. We went over and the child’s skin was completely blue, and he had a high fever. He seemed like he was about to pass out at any minute, he could barely form any words. Quickly Symania and I grabbed our staves and casted our healing spells at the child to keep him alive, much to the amazement of onlookers, whilst Hakaze started flipping through his spell book for anti dote spells. Not much afterwards Hakaze casted his antidote spell and the kid’s skin turned back to his original colour whilst his fever cleared up. His siblings and parents must have thanked us a thousand times, and they gave us a bunch of the fresh fish they caught. It was so much that we shared the rest of it with our village when we returned. We’d spend a lot of our days like that. Going on small adventures and helping those we could help.
