On the plane of Niassegana there exists a large forest. The forest is filled with trees of all kinds, purple pear and Wajuba fruit trees, pines, willows, lots of dense vegetation near the forest floor too, and its teeming with wildlife of all types. Beautiful birds make nests in it, and their songs entertain those who have the pleasure of traversing it. The forest is so dense and strong that it has overgrown many nearby and some distant settlements. The magical properties of the forest are so strong that they heal wounded travellers, and the plants inside of it regrow broken branches in a matter of days. Many travel there from far and wide to enjoy its healing effects, although it cannot cure everything.
It wasn't always like this, the forest of Mattlefor was once not even one tenth this size, and merely an unremarkable swampy forest most unwelcoming to anyone but those seeking to hide. It all began when I was around 16 years old, an aspiring young mage practising light elemental magicks with my friends, my friend Symania was an aspirant light mage, she was a halfling elf with a soft voice and long amber hair, of short stature, with lilac eyes and a kind but withdrawn personality. She often wore dark-green oversized robes with magic runes on them, and she hid her face under its thick, oversized hood. Our mutual friend Hakaze was also a light mage, and quite talented at that. He had dark, nearly black hair, green eyes, and was tall and slender. When he wasn't hanging out with us, he'd be in the library studying and reading ancient texts. He wore white robes with golden trim with pride, which had been given to him by the local priests for his excellence in magicks. As top of our class, his future was as bright as his spells were. We were good friends and we'd spent most of our free time together, just talking and going on small adventures. We lived in a small walled city, part of a larger kingdom, and we honoured the god of light, Aether. At the center of our town was a beautiful temple complex where all the priests lived and practised, and we were lucky enough to be students of magic at the school for light magic. We were going to graduate that year, our plan to become explorers once we'd graduate as mages, looking for quests and helping those in need, although Hakaze had made it clear he'd eventually want to become a priest.
