Unprecedented fear was running rampant inside Jin’s mind. He saw the inevitable doom that is heading towards his way. Although he felt like his life was in danger inside the dungeon previously, the sublime monk expert was helping him since the start. The dungeon’s traps and trials must have been cleared by the two supreme masters earlier so there was nothing really threatening Jin’s life inside that dangerous place. Most importantly, it felt like a dream so Jin didn’t feel real fear.
Right now Jouchi was unleashing his full power against Jin due to the fact that he believes Jin to be much stronger than he really is. Jin only gained slightly stronger reflexes and physical strength when he obtained his first two Avatars. In fact, everyone’s innate abilities increases when they gain a new Avatar. It’s just that Jin’s Avatars are much superior than regular ones that an abnormal increase to his abilities made it seem like he was an expert. Jin in fact was still a novice that couldn’t even tap into the endless sea of power that is within him.
In a frantic last ditch attempt, Jin screamed out in his mind for help again as the huge fire ball came inches away from his face. Yumi who had been observing from the side wanted to leap forward to help him but fear rooted her body. There was nothing any of the bystanders could do since they were all twelve year olds.
Although Hao was smirking to himself earlier as he look forward to seeing a beaten up Jin, he was secretly dead scared of the current situation. He could get away with bullying but if he was involved in the death of another kid, even he would be in deep trouble. Also he had never witnessed a life-threatening situation so he was naturally terrified.
Screaming and crying hysterically, Jin did what anyone in his shoes would do. Run! More accurately, he was rolling away frantically. His mental state was a mess. He wasn’t fire proof, he might be sligly faster than before but he’ll still die from the flames.
Just as the lethal flame threatened to smash against Jin’s body against Jouchi’s expectations, Jin’s body disappeared from everyone’s view.
“Huh?” The kids gasped with confusion. The red flames hit nothing but air and dispersed. It took them a few seconds to realize that Jin rolled himself off the cliff!
This was outside of Jouchi’s expectation. Jouchi’s thought Jin would’ve released Ki to protect himself or at least dodged, little did he know that Jin’s own cultivation is almost non-existent and that he can’t even use his Avatars at will.
“This is…” Jouchi stood there confounded, he knows once Jin had fallen there was no way he can save him. He had never killed anyone so he was in shock. This skill was an advanced one meant to fight off beasts and other experts. The special characteristic of this flame was that it could burn for hours before diminishing. The moment of insanity that gripped him left and he realize that he was in deep trouble, he could even be prosecuted by the authorities!

The kids around him didn’t think Jin who was confidently dodging Jouchi earlier would meet his demise here started screaming and panicking. Some ran away to get the teachers, some stood there in fear but most were worrying about the trouble they were in. Yumi froze for a second and then instantly made a dash to the cliff, looking downwards. The only thing he saw was over a hundred meters of distances between her and a thick rain forest below. Then she noticed a spec of dot which she instantly recognized to be Jin. Darkness clouded her vision and she collapsed as the dreaded doom awaiting Jin overwhelmed her.
Jouchi himself was turning around and thinking about how to contain the situation. The first thing he needed to do was silence the witnesses, making sure they won’t reveal what actually happened. This was hard to do since some are already leaving the scene.
“If you know what’s good for you, tell the teachers that we were attacked by a wild beast and that kid was just a casualty! Got it? All of us will be in trouble if they find out the truth!” Jouchi threatened in a foreboding tone. The terrified kids could only nod one by one as their minds froze in fear. Hao, the instigator of this issue, nodded along as well.
As this was happening, Jin’s body was just about to be smashed into a meat paste. His new abilities actually made this experience ten times more terrifying. His enhanced cognitive abilities made time pass even slower in his mind. This just prolonged the inevitable doom.
“Is this it for me?” Jin thought in despair. Jin was just at just the right age where one grasps the concept of death. Forget Jin, a seasoned warrior would still fear death. His short life flashed before him. The regrets of having lived a lazy and carefree life weighed on him as his final moments approached.
“Mom… Dad… Sorry I can’t be a faithful son.” Jin’s last thought ran through his brain as only a meter separates him from the netherworld.
Silence. Emptiness. Desolation.
“Open your eyes kid.”
“We don’t have all day.”
“Open your eyes now!”
“Open your eyes if you want to live!”
Jin who was in a state of resignation opened his eyes and looked at the source of the overbearing primeval voice.
An all-consuming fear that eclipsed his fear of death enveloped him from the inside out. What he saw was a being from the deepest depths of hell. A giant wouldn’t even begin to describe its size. The scary monster was a vast distance away from him but its two devilish crimson eyes still looked like two enormous bloody suns.
The more Jin looked, the more absorbed he felt. It was as if bits of his soul were eaten away by the deathly glance of this alien colossal being.
An archaic voice boomed out from all directions, echoing many times.
“Kid, death awaits you…”
