The moment I entered the mall, I called up Elene and she quickly picked up.
"Hey Honey, how did your interview go?" she asked.
"It went well I've basically been guaranteed the job. Right, can you come meet me at XXXXX luxury mall in 10 minutes," I answered.
"I'm done with work for the day, but why do you want to meet at that type of place?" She asked.
"It's a surprise so come quickly,"
"alright I'll be there in a bit," she replied.
" I just sent you some money for the ride," I added.
"You didn't have to, darling, I know that money's tight right now, oh I just got the notificatio-, 40 thousand dollars! Honey is this an error??!" she exclaimed.
"It's a surprise, I'm waiting for you so don't take too long," I hung up the phone and waited for her to come.
A LITTLE LATER.
Elene came running and I opened my arms to her, but she immediately grabbed my ear and started questioning me.
"Julius Gray!, tell me where you got this money, don't tell me you sold your liver, is it not even worth that much? or did you get a loan from loan sharks?, tell me the truth if you're in danger I can ask my father for help, just tell me the truth!" she berated me with questions.
"Calm down, my love, I'll tell you everything so just listen," I calmed her down.
I was a Writer with 80 years of experience afterall, so I made up an ultra realistic story about how I won the lottery, and in the end she barely believed me.
"It's not completely sensical, but I trust you so I'll let it go as long as you're not in danger, anyways why did you call me here?" She moved on.
I pulled her hand and we began with a clothing store.
"Pick whatever you want honey, and also pick some suits and coats for me."
"Leave it to me, honey! I'll pick the best for you," she said excitedly.
And so we began a long shopping spree.
THE NEXT DAY.
Me and Elene stood in front of the fruits of our labor, one full room of our small apartment filled with clothes, food, and everything else I bought, and so I decided to tell her the truth.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
I sat on the table and called Elene over.
"My love, we need to talk!" I called her.
"What do you need, honey?" She asked.
I explained what I had in mind and she stayed silent for a good while.
"I see…"
"I knew you would trust me, honey!, let's get started preparing right awa-"
"I see that money has driven my man insane, but to think he would lose his mind to this extent, I wonder what I should do?" She looked out of the window and asked.
"Honey!, just trust me it's only 69 hours so even if I'm crazy you won't lose anything, just trust me and remember everything I tell you for the next 3 days," I told her in an attempt at persuasion.
Elene contemplated for a little and then sighed.
"*Sigh* Alright I'll treat it as a vacation, and believe you but if it's not real you have to…"
Suddenly her voice went extremely low as she stood on her toes to reach my ear.
"HAHAHAHAHA! Elene, is that all you want?, I was going to do that anyways!"
"Stop teasing me…"
The three days would be the most fun vacation we had had but least this much fun was needed for us to remember our homeland before the coming [Union Of The Myriad Worlds]
Bliss was the best way to describe the time we spent together. Chaos would soon come but with her by my side, I could ignore even the sky falling.
It was already midday when we woke up. Hungover from the previous night of fun, we both sat up at the same time and just as our eyes met, smiles blossomed.
"Good morning, honey."
"Good morning, my love."
"So, where should we go today?" I asked.
"You want to go somewhere? A new restaurant?" She asked seriously.
"I was thinking something more along the lines of Paris, Milan, or New York. Somewhere fun for a change of pace." I said nonchalantly.
"Huh? You really know how to waste money!" she reprimanded me.
"Heh, it's all going to be useless soon anyways, it has fulfilled it's purpose if it can be used for your entertainment." I replied seriously.
"You're spoiling me too much. Then, let's go to Paris!" She finally folder.
"Your wish is my decree!" I said.
After using the money we had to circumvent the paperwork in not so legal ways, we managed to be on a plane within the same day. After we arrived, we enjoyed the service of the 5-star hotel and the scenes of Paris.
By midnight, we were dining at the top of the Eiffel tower, looking down at beautiful lights that mimicked the stars above. But to me no star could ever hope to shine as bright as Elene.
I held her hand in the middle of the table.
"No matter what happens, Elene, i'll always love you."
"I'll always love you too. But these past few days i've felt like you've been worried about something. Like your mind was elsewhere."
"Elene, i've made many mistakes in my lives, and i'm scared that i'll make them again. I'm truly not sure what I would do if I lost you again…" I said apologetically.
"I don't really understand everything you've just said but I know you'll do the right thing when the time comes!" she replied in a cheering voice.
"I….thank you, my love."
The rest of our night continued in joy as we reminisced about the past.
By the same time the next day, we were already on a beach enjoying fruit cocktail.
"It's sweet." said Elene with a joy filled faced.
"I agree but…nevermind." I was far too preoccupied with what was to come to fully enjoy the present.
"Not this time! You have to tell me what you're worried about!" Elene said with a pouting face as she grabbed my hand.
"..what would you do if the world was going to end tomorrow?" I suddenly asked.
"If it was ending tomorrow..? I'd just trust you. No matter what happens I know i'll be safe with you!" she said with a confident tone.
I was left speechlesss, feeling unworthy.
