Hey guys. Life has kinda sucked for me lately. I'm just...tired of everything. My therapist says that's a magical thing called burnout, which...yeah, that tracks. I was writing, and I was having a great time doing so. And then things just spiraled out of control. Everyday was just the same thing over and over again. I couldn't even bring myself to open up any of my stories, not even to read. I just...sat here, trying to muster the effort to do what I love, but I couldn't. And like an idiot, I kept slamming head first into that wall, when I really should have taken a break.
Thankfully, I'm feeling...slightly better now. I actually started writing again. It's a slow process, but I'm feeling better. The reason I'm writing this now is because I finally feel well enough for my brain to start trying to write news stories, instead of staying on task with the three stories I'm actually posting. Or, well. Was posting. I got the preliminary ideas of two more stories down, which was enough for me to move on from them and get back on task.
The third story, I haven't written down yet, and I don't know if I will. It might just get tossed into the laundry basket and get forgotten about. But it's a neat lil story. Imagine, if you will, Bear Grylls' origin story and subsequent rise to fame, after crash landing on an alien world where everything is supersized and made to kill. The mc is the ship's head engineer, and the only survivor of the crash. At some point after she gets communications up with the rest of the universe, she starts to live stream her survival. She also later manages to invent teleportation while bedridden from a three-story bear attack. Yay her!
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
The first of those three stories is (surprise) also about a head engineer on a ship. The...nation? The single government body that is in charge of the entire human race is currently embroiled in the midst of a civil war, and the rebels ambush her ship because they have a highly experimental engine that could, theoretically, power the entirety of human civilization until the universe ends. And they're using it to achieve ftl speed. Also, there are Psionics: people who use psi. You know, all that mental, mind control, telekinetic, telepathy stuff. The mc, in a stroke of horrible (or great) luck, manages to bond to the engine, basically undergo apothesis, get shunted into an alternate reality, and try to take care of a fledgling universe. Fun, right?
The middle one is more similar to The Shifter, but much more...politic-y. The mc has a human noble for a father, and a dire wolf as a mother. An eugh kinda backstory, because it was like, a one in a million chance, even if all the conditions are perfect, and it only even happened because the father was drunk, and his friends (who were also drunk) basically dared him to. The story begins with the mc's mother's "death," and she sets off to find her father (because dire wolves have actual succession laws, and she was going to be killed if she stepped up as the next leader because only one other wolf likes her, so her father stepping in as the leader of the wolves is the only thing she can think of that will let her survive). But, again, her father is a noble, making her a bastard child.
Anyway. Yeah. I got those plots written down, mostly, and I'm feeling better, so I'm heading back to write the other stories. Might still be a bit anyway, but I'm finally writing again.
Yay.
Let's hope I don't get burnt-out again.
