Chapter 14- The Prince With The Guns

Chapter 14- The Prince With The Guns

The next few days were very busy for Kye. He was making phone calls all hours of the day, getting in touch with construction companies, material suppliers and mercenaries as he planned to take the nameless city and turn it into a resort city. Kye had a small fortune that he had accrued from selling his runes on top of the money he had gotten from selling blueprints to his father's company. His total wealth would be very drastically reduced by the current project but he would easily recuperate his spendature over the course of the resort being open. He would turn most of the city into a luxury hotel and completely renovate the rest of the city into a large commercial district where locals could set up stores. He would be building four seperate blocks for residential puropses on the outside of the city and offering them up at discounted rates for the original citizens and giving further discounts for employees of the resort. Kye's goal wasn't to drive the locals out so these concessions made the most sense to him. The Golden Comfort in Agartha was nearly done and Kye's deals with the entertainers from the Fulgoth Kingdom were done successfully. The Golden Comfort was a hotel with 40 floors, 30 of which were normal rooms, 5 that had more luxury suites, the ground floor with reception and the security rooms with bunks for those staying at the hotel, a floor that was one massive casino, a few resteraunts and cafes on one floor and an underground floor with a nightclub. The penthouse was Kye's place of residence in the city.

Kye intended to scale up the Golden Comfort and expand on it's services for the city which he would name 'The City of Golden Comforts'. Right now he was securing a few jumbo jet airplanes to get people in and out of the city. Kye finally put down the phone and slumped back into a recliner in his room. Sebastian was currently detailing the parameters of the new project to the architects who would be drawing up the plans. They promised that they would have it finalised by the end of the month as they were very used to doing work like this. That meant Kye had less than a month to gather his forces and secure the city. It was now more critical than ever that Kye make this deal with Slate and secure industry for his new project. As he was thinking this, Clara walked in after knocking.

"Young Master, there are two men claiming to be from a local gang who said they have information for you about a meeting, do you wish for security to send them away?"

Kye sprung from his seat.

"No, bring them to the guest room, I need their info."

Clara bowed and left the room. Kye turned his head to Sebastian.

"Looks like my meeting with Slate just got approved. I'll go by myself but could you prepare the briefcase with the materials for me?"

Sebastian stood up and bowed.

"Of course young master."

"Thanks Sebastian, you're the best."

Kye left and closed the door behind him as he made his way down the hallway to the guest room. Kye swung open the double doors and two roughly dressed men were seated on the couch. Clara and two large-built male servants were standing behind the couch parallel to the one the two men were on. Kye sat down and crossed one leg over his knee.

"So, you're here to tell me about my meeting with Slate right?"

"Yes thats right. We were told that you wanted to meet him asap so we booked it over here to tell you that he's only available for today. Said that he wants to meet at an old steel mill in the middle city."

The man pulled a dirtied piece of paper out of his pocket and handed it to Kye.

"That there is the address. Sorry for the grease marks, we were in a hurry and didn't have much time."

"It's fine, thank you for your haste in getting this to me."

The two men lowered their heads a bit.

"Anything you want boss."

Kye gave a slight smile. Seems Brooker had already sent the word to his gang that Kye was now the boss. Kye pulled out a small note he had prepared earlier.

"Give that to Brooker. It has my contact information. If he needs a secure phone then tell him to message me about it."

The two men nodded. Kye turned to Clara.

"Get these guys something to drink and give them a bit of a break. I'll be going to this meeting."

"Do you need an escort young master?"

"I will be fine without one, thank you Clara."

Clara bowed and led the two men out of the room to the dining area. Kye stood up and walked to the door where he put his boots on. Sebastian walked down the hallway with Kye's armoured jacket and the briefcase Kye had asked for. Sebastian opened the jacket allowing Kye to slip into it. The jacket was a black trench coat that went down to just above Kye's knee. It had two buttons on the top of the shoulders that held down some fabric buttoned to them. There was a medalion with a chain attatched to the left breast of the jacket with a golden chain that hooked into the collar. All the buttons and accents were done in a dull gold that gave Kye a very striking apperance. The medalion had Kye's own insignia on it, a wolf head devouring the sun. The jacket was enchanted with several of the runes that Kye had made and was made by Hephaestus herself. It could easily block bullets and allowed Kye to bring out one of the passive abilites of [Atlas's Body] which allowed for Kye to will a barrier of gravity that would stop incoming projectiles and catch them in the air. Kye had to have a mental image to use his abilites most of the time so he imagined a great shield on his ungloved arm so that when he brought his arm up, it would stop incoming projectiles like a shield. With this jacket, Kye was heavily defended and it allowed him to use his close combat skills to their fullest even against gun users. Kye still had a holstered pistol in the inside of his jacket as using his powers was something of a last resort until he joined the Divine Academy. Kye took the briefcase from Sebastian and made his way out to where a car was awaiting. Kye got in to find the three people he tasked to get information on the Fulgoth Kingdom's representative to the adademy.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

"So it's you three huh. Got any info for me?"

The woman nodded and handed over a usb. Kye slotted it into his tablet and looked over the information on it. It showed that the noble house that the representative belonged to relied heavily on the weapons market to make its money and that they were prolific users of the Iron Chains to sell their raw materials to. They were selling these at highly marked up prices but had completely bullied other suppliers out of the market. The Iron Chains had no other choice but to buy these materials to use for their weapons as there were no others willing to sell to them. While this information wasn't exactly new for Kye, it had reaffirmed what they had already found out. Kye pulled out the second part of the blueprint and gave it to the woman.

"This completes our business. Drive me to this location and leave the villa for good or I will kill you."

Kye handed the note with the address to the driver and sat back in his seat after delivering his threat. The driver nodded and they took off. Truthfully, Kye had half a mind to just waste them altogether and be done with it but he knew that his father and mother would not approve. Instead he spiked the second half of the blueprint chip with several invasive programs that would mine the Santel Group's servers for information. They were getting a blueprint they could never build and Kye would get all his information plus some. The car ride was silent but Kye noticed that the woman next to him kept sending him glances.

"You want to say something?"

The woman's eyes opened wide and she shook her head. She had a slight blush after being noticed but turned her head away to look out the window. Kye just shook his head and went back to looking over information on his tablet. He was arranging meetings with some gangs from the Kingdom of Speria, one had large amounts of farmland in the Sperian Plains and one had a large amount of trained men. Kye continued his digging until the car stopped outside his destination. Kye put the tablet into the briefcase and stepped out of the car. There were two men who stood at the entrance of the steel mill with rifles. Kye approached them.

"I'm Kye, i've got a meeting set up with Slate."

The two men looked at one another and one touched an earpiece in his ear as to verify Kye's claim. The other one began patting down Kye as to check for weapons. Kye pulled the pistol out from his jacket and gave it to the man after he had missed it.

"I'm letting you keep it on you. Consider it an act of good faith on the boss's behalf."

Kye nodded and holstered the gun back in his jacket. The door hissed and slid open to reveal a dirty corridor. Kye followed behind one of the men as he led Kye to the steel mill's office where a young man was sitting with two armed guards. The man couldn't have been older than 21 and had spiked black hair. He wore very unassuming clothes that didn't make him stand out. He gestured to a simple metal chair.

"Sit."

Kye sat down and placed the briefcase on the ground next to him. The man sat on the desk and lent forward.

"So, you've found me. What do ya' wanna do now?"

"Ideally, bring you to my side."

Slate laughed.

"You want us huh? Well, you'd best have a pretty good offer."

"I hear that you're currently being forced to buy from a specifc noble house for raw materials. Is that correct?"

Slate narrowed his eyes.

"How'd you figure that?"

"Let's just say that I don't particularly like the guys you're buying from right now is all."

Slate nodded his head.

"Yeah, the Gorsellia's. Real fuckin' pieces of work those ones. We don't love 'em much either but they're all we got right now."

"Well, not anymore. See, I aquired some liquidated assets of a now defunct noble of this kingdom. In these assets, there were 4 used up iron mines that I had a closer look at. After developing some technology for ground scanning, I found that these mines were not nearly as empty as stated, so I re-hired the miners who were laid off after the liquidation and put them back to work. Now I have these mines producing tonnes of iron ore that I don't need."

"So you wanna sell to us to hurt the Gorsellia's huh?"

"Yes and no. I want the Iron Chains to join me and become exclusive contractors to me."

Slate looked incredulously at Kye.

"Why'd you want that?"

"I need to cripple this noble house to twist their arm into allowing me to join in the divine class at the Divine Academy and I need a foothold in this kingdom. I want the Iron Chains to be that foothold."

"So, you've said a lot about what we can do for you, but besides cheaper base resources, what else are we getting?"

"There were seven foundaries in those assets along with their entire staff of debt slaves. If the Iron Chains were to join me, they'd be yours to do whatever you liked with."

Slate now looked interested.

"I learnt in the court that nothing this good just falls in your lap. What is the real cost of all this."

Kye was confused.

"Court? What court?"

"The royal court of the Fulgoth Kingdom dummy." Slate stood up off the desk and threw his hands out wide. "You're looking at the illegitimate 1st prince of the Fulgoth Kingdom."

Slate then pulled an ornate pistol from his hip and placed it on the desk.

"So, like i was saying. What's the real cost?"
