Chapter 4

(This chapter onwards is what happens after the cave training finished)

The familiar sound of the cave rumbling as it opened echoed across the chamber. He exited the cave a changed man. Half a year in-game had gone by since he complete the first level in the cave. His body now were covered with lean muscles due to the training he had endured, his jet black hair was now at shoulder length, he walked with the presence of a veteran.

His level hadn't gone up much because the monsters in fought in the cave gave little experience. He checked his status for the first time in months.

People will be naturally suspicious of your nature as a Dark Elf.

Because of the constant training he had endured and the ridiculous low experience he got from the monsters, his stats were abnormal. His stats were that of a cheat. Normally, players would only be allowed 5 stats increase per level and the occasional awarded stat points from quests. At level 20, J could match people of that in the high hundreds or even low 200s.

J with a renew vigor, headed to return to the main guild chamber. Since he finished training, he had to find his master, there was surely more for him to learn. However, his first item on his list: revenge.

As J headed to find the people who had wronged him, no one noticed his existence. He unconsciously hid himself in the shadows as he walked down the hallways, assassins were trained to become one with the shadows, and normally they would be able to notice anything hidden since they too were skilled. However, J's abilities had far exceeded most guild members, even though his level was low, his abilities now were in between that of a master and grandmaster assassin.

Having slipped from shadow to shadow unnoticed, he had finally found the 4 recruits who had once beaten him. He waited from the shadows, observing. He didn't know that they hadn't actually advanced in their classes, but he knew instantly that their skills were no match for him. In reality, it was difficult to graduate from a recruit, not only does your skills have to improve but also you had to successfully perform contracted assassinations.

He moved out from the shadows, and stood a few steps behind the group. He waited for them to notice him. But because J hid his presence so well (a skill he learnt from the cave training), they never had the slightest idea.

J's inner self sighed. He grew tired waiting and coughed a little. "Ahem..." The four turned towards the origin of the sound with surprised faces.

"Ohh, look whos here."

"Finally come out of hiding eh?"

"Hiding for a couple of months, aren't you a coward?"

They all threw comments at J as they surrounded him.

"Just because you have some muscles now, you think you can take us on?" they all laughed at this comment. J remained silent. Because of their current skills, they could not realize that what stood before them was of a higher power. They did not think that in a mere few months, he had grown astronomically.

Because of J's silence, they got annoyed. "You cocky bastard, you think you're so high and mighty. Die!" the first one stepped in for a punch at J's face, only to end up unconscious where J was supposed to be. J moved so fast that none of them saw as he dodged the punch and knocked the assailant out behind him. None of them knew what had happened.

'What the..." As the three began looking at each other, one of them flew towards the wall so hard that the sound of bones cracking could be heard. They looked at their fallen comrade as he slowly slid on the floor, traces of blood left on the war. Their mind unconsciously went into battle mood as they took their stance and scanned their surroundings. 2 fallen comrades and a missing recruit.

Common sense told them that it was not possible for the recruit to do this, his skills shouldn't have exceeded theirs at all, if even by this much. But somewhere, they knew. He was responsible. Fear ran amok them.

An evil laugh echoed through the hall. The two felt chills down to their very soul.

"Come out you bas...AHHHHH" Before he could manage to finish what he was saying he cried a painful cried. His friend looked at him and found him impaled to the floor. His shoulders pierced through by his own daggers embedded into the wall. 'Help...me..." as he softly cried out. The one left standing knew, that he was deliberately left conscious to suffer longer. He turned, and ran.

J deliberately left the one he impaled on the wall conscious, he was the one who started the beating and J wanted him to suffer more. If others could see J's face at the time, it was a devil in disguise. As J watched him suffer, the last one began to run. 'He's so slow...' J moved so fast as if he suddenly appeared in front of the last man. They stood facing each other, J looked as the other's face twisted in horror at his materialization.

"You monster..." the man whispered. J thought of two outcomes, the man would either run the other way or try and attack him. Either way hes as good as dead. 'I've had my revenge... maybe I should leave him alone...' After some pondering, 'Nahhh... I'll use him as a guinea pig.' And J tried a skill that he had learnt during his training.

J used his skill obtained from training 'Bloodlust pressure', a technique opposite of the very meaning of assassins. Assassins were supposed to eliminate their presence, but J had also learnt the additional skill of releasing. 'Seems like these two skills go hand in hand' he thought when he obtained it. Now he experimented on this recruit assassin, and the outcome was satisfactory.

The man was about to turn and run away when an intense pressure overwhelmed his entire body, a cold piercing chill went through his body, his hair stood on end. He somehow understood from the feeling that he was going to be killed. Within two seconds, the pressure was too much for him to handle and he lost consciousness.

'hmm...' J muttered as the man fell unconscious. 'Interesting...' J turned around and left 4 recruit assassins lying in the hallway. 'That was fun' he thought to himself. He was happy with himself, all his hard work paid off. He walked cheerfully with a smile on his face. After passing a few hallways, he heard a noise and stopped. He instincts immediately fired up and hid himself in shadows. He was as still as a rock when he heard it again, he identified the location of the noise straight away and headed to investigate.

*Crash* As J entered the room skillfully sticking to the shadows. It was a storage room, with wooden crates lying around. In the far corner stood broken crates exposing vegetables and meat. 'Seems like this is where food is stored... now where's the thief?...' J scanned around the room, it was rare for J to have to look around the room, his developed senses would usually catch on to the presence of people around. Yet now he could find no one. 'Strange... no one had left the room at all...'

Suddenly, J felt a tug at his feet. 'What the...' He looked down to find the source of the tugging. It was a dog! 'How in the hell...' When J noticed the dog, it sat infront of J and it seemed to watch J. A minute of so passed as the two looked at each other. J had many things coursing through his mind 'How did it know I was here... my presence was eliminated perfectly... not even a hellhound should have been able to find me...' J was confused at the situation.

The dog stood up and barked at J.

"Alright alright, calm down. You want food right?"

"Woof!" the dog seemed to reply. J headed to the broken crate and offered some meat to the dog. While the dog was greedily eating, J turned around and thought to himself as he grabbed more food for the dog 'Why is there a dog in the assassins guild?' He turned around to face the dog and offered it more meat only to be freeze in his step. He looked around him, the dog vanished.

J left to the main chamber having given up looking for the dog, soon the dog left his mind. He arrived at the chamber where his master once sat and proceeded to wait for her appearance. As he looked around he saw a few people gathered at the chamber chatting amongst themselves, each wearing a traditional assassins outfit. Although no weapons could be seen, he knew that they were hidden under their clothing as trained assassins would have.

Without wanting to draw attention, J surveyed the chamber to find a good place to sit and wait. He finally found one. With a few jumps off pillars and walls, he arrived on the beam atop the ceiling of the chamber directly above his master's throne-like seat. It was surprisingly comfortable. No one had noticed his action as he was fast and eliminated his presence perfectly. He decided this will be his spot from now on. Time passed and he dozed off.

His eyes opened as he felt a familiar presence enter the chamber, it was undoubtedly his masters. She sat on her seat and conversed with someone, J decided to wait whilst resting and closed his eyes. Suddenly he felt an object flying upwards to the right of him. Even with his eyes closed his instincts took over and he swiftly removed a shuriken and accurately pieced the object in half. He opened his right eye as the object was pierced and a smile spread on his face. It was an apple.

"Not bad. You've gained some skill." a female voice rang across the chamber as she was biting into half of an apple. She threw the other half towards the ceiling. "That's yours." J caught it and began eating it as his master did. After he finished he skillfully jumped down. To some of the lower assassins, he looked like he materialized there, to the higher class assassins, they knew he jumped but not from where. They slowly recognize this man to be the first disciple and murmur began to spread in the chamber.

"So... I see you finished your training in the cave. Took you a while." she said as she ignored the murmurs across the chamber. In fact, she knew that it was unprecedented for anyone to finish the cave training in half a year. The cave was designed specifically to train future Heads of the guild. Even she, who was known as a prodigy took a year and a half.

"Yep." J replied nonchalantly, playing with a dagger. 'He's getting more interesting by the minute... hehe' she thought to herself.

J who was throwing his knife in the air and catching it playfully, felt a slight ominous presence behind him. As his dagger was in mid air, he drew his second dagger in his left hand and attacked the person behind him. His left hand was stopped, he skillfully twisted his body and caught the first dagger midair with his right hand and jumped over the assailant and landed behind him, both daggers pointed at the assailants neck. It was a man he had never met before.

"Hahaha, Simon you're dismissed." she said as she waved her hand. J upon hearing her speak lowered his weapons. The man called Simon bowed to the Head then turned around and bowed to J before walking off. J looked at his master questioningly.

"That was Simon, a master class assassin." Realization came upon J. 'to think he easily fended off a master class assassin after half a year...'

"You have shown that you have skill. I'm sure you're tired of training, so lets put you to the test. Currently you're still in Recruit class so you have to rank up. To rank up, you must perform tasks." J knew exactly what she meant, a task for an assassin could only mean... J caught a parchment thrown at him, he undid the roll and saw a drawing of a middle aged man, it read: Earl of Dismonia.

"Assassinate him."
