The Eternals of the Pantheon

Alvira: She is the leader of the Pantheon and she is often called the “Mother of Humanity”. She is represented in the form of an immaculate angel with white-silver hair, her eyes are blindfolded to represent that even without sight, she can see through lies and deception. She represents justice and equality. She is the patron of all knights.

Agrevis: He is often called the “Lord of Flames” and he is believed to be the Human Eternal with the most raw power amongst the seven. He is known for having a fiery temper, and his Hammer, his artifact, is said to have been forged during the Dawn of Humanity. He is the patron of smiths and artisans.

Rafdalion: He is the most liked Eternal of the Pantheon just after Alvira. He is known for his great kindness and patience. He is the patron of peasants and lower-class citizens blessing them with bountiful harvests and peace. He also has a Sanctuary in the southwest of Novomundis where he protects endangered species. He is not venerated by humans but also by Fytocyles (a race of plantoid).

Yestival: Yestival is one of the less powerful Eternals of the Pantheon, but he is still venerated by a lot of Humans. He is the patron of merchants and bards blessing them with luck and creativity. Like Rafdalion, he is also venerated by a lot of Qiurens living on Renmen.

Gyron: Known as the “Iron Warrior”, he is the most resilient Eternal of the Pantheon. He is venerated by adventurers and mercenaries which to receive his blessing to survive their next battle. He is the patron of adventurers and mercenaries.

Nagalai: She is the least powerful Eternal of the Pantheon as her domain of veneration is similar to Typhelia. She is the patron of academicians, she gives inspiration to engineers, artificers, and other professionals of the same kind.

Typhelia: She is the “Queen of Magic” and is very powerful. She is not well-liked by the general populace because magic is believed to have been at the origin of the event which destroyed Humanity’s homeland but wizards and sorcerers do all they can to hope to receive a divine inspiration from her, to advance their magical studies. As such, she is the patron of wizards and sorcerers. She can sometimes be venerated by races other than humans living on Novomundis.

The Novomundian calendar is divided into seven months of 49 days (the order of months is in the same order as how the Eternals are presented above). Depending on the month of his birth, a human baby receives a benediction. This can sometimes alter partially his physical appearance, most notably his eyes but also his hair color depending on the Eternal though it is not always the case.

Humanity’s arrival on Novomundis

For a long time, Novomundis was inhabited by Qiuren Clans, not under the rule of the Jade Empire and Fytocyle tribes. 369 years ago, Humanity arrived on the Island after fleeing their home continent, Mundis, located in the far north, after its mysterious destruction following the event called the “Eternal Winter”.

Under the leadership of the Pantheon and Human heroes, the locals were either killed or pushed back. After dozens of years of conflict, Lauretis “Goldenspear” de Neozar finally beat a coalition of Qiuren Clans and Fytocyle tribes at the Battle of Karderis, where he founded his own city thereafter.

The Qiurens were exiled from Novomundis and a lot of them fled west, founding the City of Renmen, or going back to their roots in the Jade Empire even more west. The last of the Fytocyles were given protection by Rafdalion, one of the most powerful Eternals of the Human Pantheon. They were granted lands to live peacefully in what would be later called Rafdalion’s Sanctuary or simply the Sanctuary in southwest Novomundis.

In these times of conflict, great heroes emerged who would later be called the Holy Founders.

In the north, it was under the might of Gazar I Von Volghart that the humans pushed back their enemies and founded the Kingdom of Volghart, which would be ruled by his descendants for centuries to come. He created a strict system where the monarch would hold a lot of power over his subjects.

In the east, Latinis Li Avirtas destroyed the Qiuren clans with her powerful magic, causing a large amount of destruction and death. On the ruins of her enemies, she founded the City of Avirtas, or the “City of Towers” as it is sometimes named nowadays. The best magicians of Seylenthea are trained in this city, and Latinis descendants still hold a lot of power in the Avirtan Magocracy.

In the southeast, it is under the leadership of Leolios Za Garrigas and his eight knightly disciples that humanity triumphed. Leolios was the most righteous and virtuous of the Holy Founders, and he was also the oldest. He died without any descendants but each of his disciples founded a Knightly Order and they created a council, the round table, where the most powerful knight orders reunite to solve the problems of the realm of Garrigas.

In the South, Leon I d’Armithris and his friend, Lauretis de Neozar, pushed back the Qiurens and Fytocyles and signed the peace treaty which put an end to the conflicts on Novomundis. He was the weakest physically of all the Holy Founders but people called him the “Miracle Worker” as he could turn any situation to his advantage. He created a monarchy similar to Volghart but with more cooperation between nobles.

After these initial wars, Humanity was able to develop in peace, and step by step they came into contact with the other races of Seylenthea: the Qiurens of the Jade Empire, the Alkameleons, the Aiglerons, the Constellars, …

Nations of Novomundis

Volghart (in blue, the blue and red territories are the ancient lands of Armithris now in possession of Volghart after the War of Liberations.) is a hereditary monarchy and is after the war the biggest and most powerful realm on the Island. They are ruled by Gazar VI Von Volghart, his heir is Princess Lemegdia Von Volghart. Succession on Novomundis is often equal between males and females though there are some rare cases where it’s not. Volghartians mainly venerate Agrevis.

Avirtas (in purple) is a Magocracy. For all intent and purposes, mages are nobles in Avirtas, and most important among them are the Archimages, the most competent wizards and sorcerers of Novomundis. Each Archimage is the leader of a Tower of Magic, and each Tower studies one domain of the arcane. This is why Avirtas is often called the “City of Hundred Towers”. The power is focused in Avirtas which is the biggest city on the Island while the rest of Avirtan territory serves as an income source. There is a great council room in Avirtas where all Archimages are called to vote on state matters. Avirtan mainly venerates Typhelia.

Garrigas (in red) works like a Federation of Knightly Orders. The number of orders has grown since the death of Leolios, as there are now dozens of them, but only the most important, those who generally rule a city, can join the round table. Nowadays, the Round Table is composed of fourteen noble knights. Garrigas is a strange land where many strange phenomena tend to occur such as apparitions of strange creatures. Garrigan mainly venerates Alvira.

Finally, there is Armithris (in grey). After the death of the royal family, a League of Noble was created and is currently led by Celena de Neozar, Duchess of Karderis. What was once the most rich kingdom in Novomundis is now but a shell of its former self as its capital was burned and its people scarred. It would need a true miracle to revive what remains of Armithris. Armithrians mainly venerate Rafdalion, though their belief in the Pantheon has been greatly shaken and many are those who speak of the Ardent Sun, the Martyr of Flames, Arkaron.
